That's a cool question!
I don't know, but it sounds doable.
Hmmm....

PS: I know there is something called rainbow folders that allows you to at least colour your folders.

Yeah I've heard of rainbow folders. I wanna try it, it would be nice to color co-ordinate and categorize my folders. :)

I've used it yeeears ago, it's quite cool.

I found out it's "postcardware". Basically: Freeware, but the guy who made it kindly request you send him a postcard :D

Basically, I THINK it is:

1..... Find a picture you want to represent your folder
2..... resize it to 32 x32 Pixels
3..... Save it with a name you will know (in a location you can find)
4..... Open "PROPERTIES" on the folder you want to change
5..... Select "CHANGE ICON"
6..... Go find your new picture
7..... Select it
8..... Hit "APPLY"....... then, "OK"

I may be a little off on the exact steps, but this should get anyone close enough that they can achieve this.

BTW, I have done this, and the selected photo doesn't always come up every time. I guess the computer forgets every now and then.

I tried it and it didn't work.. :(
Did you carefully write down his instructions, and compare them with mine?

The only other thing I can think of to try is to change 32 x 32 to 256 x 256. For some reason, I have heard of people using that size.

I just tried it, using just his 32 x 32 instructions, and it worked perfectly.

It is important that you get your original picture changed to the 32 x 32 size, make it a 24 bitmap, and save it with the extension of [ .ico ].

I just changed the size of my successful folder Icon replacement from 32 x 32..... to 40 x 40, and it showed up just fine as a slightly larger photo Icon on the desktop folder.

Ok here's what happened this time. I managed to save it as 32 x 32 with the .ico BUT when I went to change the folder icon, a thing popped up and said "this folder contains no icons". :/

It shouldn't make any difference what program you use to "RESIZE" the picture, just as long as you save it with the [ .ico ] extension, AND save it as a 24 bitmap.

Of course that specific new picture is the one you have to locate when you "change icon" in the Folder Properties / Customize tab.
