My computer screen has been doing this flashing, flickering thing for a few weeks, sometimes I will lose the entire page. Other times I need to refresh to get it back. Would anyone know what it might be, or how that can be fixed? Just started out of nowhere a few weeks back but thought it might fix itself or something (but it didnt) lol

I did purchase a new computer this evening but I do have a week before it gets here, so I thought I would ask if any of you puter experts would know how to fix this gliche (whatever this might be). I thought maybe I could see about getting rid of it for the time being, at least until the other one gets here.

I did have a standby laptop but that has a trojan on it still (even after having someone supposedly fix that) so much for that.

I have windows 7 and my screen flashes like a strobe light. I thought let me find and example, but it would be really annoying to leave it here.

Thanks for any help if you can God bless you

Do you mean desktop computer? If so did you check the cord connection from the screen to the computer? If it's a laptop it's still possible the cord has been knocked loose.
I'm not quite an expert but another possibility might be the refresh rate has been changed. I'm not familiar with Windows 7, but i think that could be checked under the Control Panel.
Lastly, as a desktop it could just be that the screen is going out. Or the video card. On a laptop it could be either of those or a second video controller.

These are just some ideas and suggestions to start with until the more savvy arrive. But they always say in computer repair to start with the most simple and obvious ideas and work up from there. So i started some simple ideas haha.

I suspect the answer is among the things Ugly said.

Just a PS:
Does it flash in all programs? I did a search, and a lot of people with Windows say that their browsers were flashing after updates and it turned out that their version of flash (ironically) didn't update correctly.

Thanks Ugly and wwjd_kilden, I will check all of these in the morning to see if it keeps up, thank you Ugly for a few of those reccomendations to try.

And wwjd_kilden, its more like when I am on a page (especially with alot of pictures) or videos things that need to download (not always) but most of the time, the page will just go into strobe light mode until I either click off of it or that I refresh the page. If it starts strobing too much the page dissappears.

I was looking online myself and I got anything from adobe flash, windows updates but I saw 10 not so much 7 and Im not too technically brilliant so I thought I would come here and ask.

And you know what? The plug was a little loose on the monitor, soI pushed that in more, not sure if that was it or not yet, I'll probably be able to tell by tommorrow a bit better because it always does it, its just a matter of time (if it wasnt it).

I sure hope it is as simple a thing as that though, that would be great.

Oh yeah, I was going to ask another question too but thats more about which might you guys reccomend for a music device, like an MP3 player or whichever, Im still a CD person, with a dinasaur flip phone, so I cant play music on my phone (if they do that) and I dont have the newer devices, but what I am finding is that when I go to buy a song or two its like most of them arent going to CD anymore, so I figured it was time to get one. I need to get with the times but always hesistant with some of this stuff if its too involved (complicated). But I thought I would also ask about the better devices (ease of use) wireless (or otherwise) which youmight reccomend (even little speaksers for them) so if you have a good one to reccomend for me please feel free too. I welcome it.

Thanks again for your help also, I check back in the morn, see how it is then

God bless you both

Im superbeat right now

Seems the MP3 player battles are past. You don't often hear people talk about them anymore. I think people are switching more to phones now, for their music. iPod has always had a good reputation. Though they are a bit pricey and there are a few versions to pick from. Some are all touch screen, some not. Some are wireless internet capable that lets you connect to iTunes to purchase music, some require a computer to load songs through the cable.
Often times, for such things, searching through Amazon and looking at customer comments on products can be a help. You can find which have a consistent problem or which get a lot of positive feedback. Lets you compare prices (at least for their site). Same for the speakers. There are all sorts of options there.

Good afternoon Beautiful

(Im not flattering you) Im just really uncomfortable with calling you Ugly.

And I checked, the pages are still doing that flash strobe thing so it wasnt the cord (and yes it is a desktop) I had forgotten to answer you on that.

Yeah I figured the MP3's were older, thank you for replying on that also.

Im typically just fine with old stuff (I actually prefer it) I just didnt want one of those newer phones that do everything.

I saw a video someone posted where one was hacked and being controlled by another while they recorded the happening and I am just really uncomfortable with alot of the technology out there to be perfectly honest with you.

It becomes fustrating because something as small (such as a mouse) might not be compatible with the newer things and so if you prefer the older way of things over the newer more advanced will basically get you left in the dark to some of the simpler things you enjoy (like listening music).

I would like to be able to buy digital music without having to get one of these "intellectual phones" because I dont find them to be all that smart a choice.

Speaking of opting out, I even tried to buy my puter without a webcam because of those being hacked and I couldnt.

I told him, I'll pay you to remove it, and he said you can disable it, but I dont want the install itself, but he told me he couldnt do that, and that I will just put black electrical tape over it. It just really bugs me that I cant opt out of more advanced things, and in the case of music without needing to get out of the more simpler things.

I wonder if it will break the puter to stab that eye thing?
(nothing against peeking eyes) when they are invited, but Im not into this one LOL

I still have a working casette player by the way, I listen to my grandmother play piano on it, she was a remarkable pianist. So Im hoping that doesnt die anytime soon.

My husband broke a piece off my ancient model flip phone so I think I will be needing a new one sooner, but I think I will just reactivate my landline and go without a cell phone altogether.

I just wanted to download a bunch of digital music (many hours worth) and store it offline and play it without streaming and without needing these other popular devices, and just able to play it without much else, thats why I thought, MP3 might work for me. I spent most of the evening at Amazon trying to decide, I couldnt.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated, its great to be able to drop in here and get some advice, glad for this board.

God bless you Beautiful

Gotcha, I actually liked ChristisGod for the short time I knew her

I am quoting ChristisGod under ISeeYou here

http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/106123-beware-3.html#post1852845

I was only under the handle ISeeYou for a month posting alongside of her

JesusIsTheChrist (who used to post here) and I had a falling out in private which was the reason why I had left (as he confesed to being my "harrasser" in a kidding around way in members introductions. I wanted ISeeYou back, but couldnt get it back so when I come back as DesiredHaven (I stated I was ISeeYou) and elsewhere to both Oldhermit and Elin (who is now banned)

My leaving then had nothing to do with the board itself (or the members of it) but about sharing the same airspace with JesusIsTheChrist at the time, we had been good freinds for over 10 years.

The last time under DesiredHaven I left because some of the current members (which I thought had left, but who also come back as I decided to return).

Thats how the cookie crumbles, I pretty much stay out of the cliques and and getting involved with others, just want to participate more in studies and less in the drama and pettiness

Yeah I know he left. He had come here first, as he was the one who had invited me here but at the time I was not at all interested. Then he just took a vacation and come back, and then I was here posting with him and then after awhile he deleted his account only to return a little later (and under the same name) and then he deleted it again.

He didn't get banned either time as I recall it.

I had never left the forum either (really) I had just left participating on it because I will read certain on it. Whether I am a participating member or not of any forum.

I wasnt even a current member when I recall the day he had returned. We were apparently on the same thread and when I turned the page there he was (not posting yet) just having clicked "like" on another freind of mines posts (which I recall so vividly because he doesnt always agree with this other friend) LOL Despite that I regarded them both as good freinds.

But no he wasnt banned.
