I am trying to get on chat. For the first time - the 'Adobe Flash Player Settings' box comes up, but is non-responsive. And the worst thing is, I don't even have a camera nor a mike!

Did something change to cause this to be forced when someone first gets on chat?

This has not happened before now. And, I have not changed anything on my system.

I logged out of CC and back in. No change.

Any ideas?

Try accessing the site using a different browser. Worked for me in the past.

Thank you. I suppose that is worth a try. But - I have been using Firefox very succesfully with no problems. I am just wondering - why the sudden change?

I find that if you open settings and click on allow and check off remember, it wont ask you again :)
Then again, if you're like me and clear internet cookies and whatnot constantly it wont help :p

I've noticed that I'm prompted to allow access as well upon login of chat, as opposed to being prompted only on demand (I always select "I will not use a webcam, and then I'm only asked to allow access when I attempt to use the mic for the first time).

But, I've had no lockups, and I use Firefox (version 11 - non beta). My Flash is up to date too; 11.2 (11.3 is still in beta, I believe).

It might be cleared up now, I noticed a temporary change in the way the allow/deny box was showing up. Last night it was different; now it's back to normal.

I use firefox, and from time to time i will get the same problem. It presents the box, but won't allow me to click it. I've not found a way around it other than switching browsers when it happens. This has been going on for months with me. Nothing new really. You're just now experiencing it.

Who, meeeee? I was using chrome, like always, and it was definitely different last night. It asked me, when I was a guest, if I wanted to allow/deny mic use. It did, however, let me click "deny". And then it blinged me and said, "Guest blah blah blah, you will not be allowed to use you mic during this session". Twice, actually. Never done it before, and hasn't done it today. But the OP and I are definitely describing two different problems, so I dunno.

There have been some flash issues, while Robo is working on upgrading the site.

Just try a different browser, clearing cookies, all the things suggested above. Hopefully it will work.

Yes - that is it exactly -- 'only on demand' is what is was before - now it prompts upon init of chat.

I was wondering if Robo changed something that caused this -- and, if so, 'Robo, could you change it back?'.

:)

EDIT: Oh - BTW - it is still doing it - the problem still exists.

Yep... as Iraasup said above, Robo upgraded to a newer version of Flash. This is the explanation for most of the new problems ppl are experiencing. I, unfortunately, use a very obscure Linux-based OS (which doesn't allow me to use any newer Flash than 9.x) and I can no longer get into chat at all. Oh well.

Daddycat: you should be able to get in. Currently we're back on our old system which only requires Flash Player 6. Let me see what I can do.

GRA: Yes I've had to make many changes to get around the Flash Player 11.2 bug, and then other changes to get around other problems that resulted from getting around the 11.2 bug.

But you were in the chat today, chatting with me........... so.............. doesn't it work for you? Or are you saying that the dialog appears, but it won't let you click it? And the dialog just sticks there? And hence you can't use the mic (or cam)?

The problem I have been having (with regard to this thread) is that I can no longer get into chat using a firefox browser. I have to open a SeaMonkey browser - log into CC again - and run chat from there. I would rather do everything from firefox - which *did* work fine until the past howevermany days when this started.

The flash control box that pops up freezes on firefox (can't even click on Settings), but works on SeaMonkey...

I tried it again on firefox - the flash control box still freezes.

Yes -- but, I cannot do *anything* at that point. Interestingly enougth -- I actually show up in the chat room and other people can see that I am there -- I just cannot do anything but close out the chat window.

Which version of Firefox and which version of Flash are you currently using?

Firefox 2.0.0.4 (yeah, I know it's old -- I have a reason for not upgrading it)
Flash 10 (ditto)

Just keep one thing in mind --- it *did* actually work *just fine* with CC chat before the day of the original post in this thread - and I have not changed anything on my system.

I'm sorry to say that - despite previous lack of issues - that right there is your problem. That Firefox version predates the Flash player version you're using, so it was only a matter of time before you ran into issues; I'm surprised you didn't sooner.

I use Firefox 11.0 with Flash 11.2, and the only occasional problem I run into as of recent is Flash occasionally crashing.

If you insist upon using that version of FF, then you may want to consider using a different browser for CC alone. Sorry bud!
