Hi all, so it has been driving me crazy recently.... ive been looking online for a way to put a filter on my iPhone... but the only option i see is one that installs a third party browser and then makes you turn off your safari, youtube and app store to have internet filtered. If that worked that would be all good, but the problem is it does not. i found that a lot of apps in the iPhone have a browser built in(no search bar included but its easy to find a way around that)... but the app is rated for ages 3 and up... So what annoys me is that when parents think there kids iPhone is safe.... its not. one example of this is a app for streaming music... thats all it does but the app has a button to let you look at the web page of that radio station. from there its easy enough to get to google. so what im trying to say with all this is.... is there anyone out there that has seen this problem also... and any of you got any suggestions

I think the only content filtering you can manipulate is your Google search preferences. Outside that, there is no local content filtering settings as far as I'm aware.

But I'm an Android guy, so you may need to do some research rather than taking my word for it.

Hi there i'm not sure why you need this exactly -- this is for you or a child? Sorry..sometimes the language barrier gets me hehe anyway have you tried exploring the "settings" portion? If this is for a child then you can disable/limit some capabilities from there. Even music and podcasts that have "explicit" tags will not be opened i the setting is on :) i have not really explored this much so i dont know up to what extent this can be useful for your needs :) i hope you find what you're looking for. God bless!

I personally do not approve the usage of tracking apps to control your child every single day. This way he or she won't feel safr, trusted and respected while he's growing up, resulting the feeling of insecurity in adulthood. Monitoring software like http://www.top10spyapps.com/ should only be used if there is a direct threat to kids mental or physical health

You brought up a 3 year old thread for that? Guessing solicitation is your reason for signing up since that's the only thing you said.

The OP of this thread has NOT been online since March.. please don't pull zombie threads forward without checking the last online activity of the OP, and whether or not he/she was banned or left the site. Please also note the date the thread was made. Zombie threads only take up more room in an already clogged forum, and that goes for ALL the forums..

OpenDNS family shield is free and will do the job for mobile devices and your entire network: https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/parental-controls/opendns-familyshield/

I run it at the router level so all devices on the network are filtered and then on actual computers I install Blue Coat's free K9 as a second layer.

mshyde i sent you a friend request hope we can, I know sometimes when we are new to people, places, and things we start with something we can connect with and I personally admire you finding a connection here at CC even if it starts with a old thread nothing wrong with that at all in my book Amen. This is another way how God works he will place something in front us so we may connect with him and get our wheels turning. The bible was written along time ago very long time but it's still being read and talked about debated etc today... what you did is basically the same thing. I just may find the oldest thread on this site and post something on it just to see how many can except me for wanting to connect and who can't. Don't let anybody discourage you from stepping up to the plate and taking a swing God wants us to be bold and try our best to connect with others we are all brothers and sisters no matter how far we are away from each other my door is open come on in I got some food on the table for ya. me myself the way I am I'll probably be band from here one day probably sooner then later I'm a little ruff around the edges and seem to go against the grain.

I agree with you on your statement it also can cause the child to be mad at the parent for some time that wouldn't be good though like you said if the parents suspect the child is using drugs or doing something else that may end up harming them selves probably best to keep eye on them technology can save lives.

P.S don't mean harm at all to anyone just saying,

lady_blue, what are we supposed to do then? Create a new thread? Not that I had an extra comment or felt that I needed to throw my 2 cents in...but if I did have a question to one of these forum that I didn't feel was answered, or felt that I wanted to comment on their testimony or prayer request(maybe checking up), do you get what I'm trying to ask here?

If the person is banned or has quit I don't see what need there would be for follow up or questions. Or if they have simply gone inactive and are not logging in anymore, even if the account is still active.
Many times the OPs do not return to their old threads to check for comments anyways, so the majority of the time bringing up old threads doesn't get answers, just pushes newer threads down.

Many times, ppl do that, pull an old thread forward to make a comment to the OP, and rather often the OP has either left CC or been banned. So the person who replies is giving a reply to someone who is no longer here. As far as prayer requests go, people can always use prayer, even if they've been banned..lol.. BUT since there is now a prayer thread in women's forum, you could go there to pray for the person whose thread you have found, and pray for them, instead of pulling a zombie thread forward or starting a new thread specifically for that one person.

Some good things to check before pulling a zombie thread forward, like I said before, is check the date the thread was made. If it's from several years ago, leave it alone. Also check to see if the OP was banned or has left CC. Click on their user name and look at the date of their last online activity. Same goes for any other posters--check them too b4 you respond, so that you won't respond to a member who is no longer here.

Use the advanced search box (in top right corner) to check if any more current threads are in use. Type in "divorce" or whatever subject you might be looking for. There are HUNDREDS of threads on all subjects here, so a more current one is bound to pop up..lol.. As Ugly stated, many people create a thread here and never return to it to check any replies they have.. So it wouldn't matter if you posted a response or not because they never return to that thread..
