I'm a 56-year-old computer illiterate. Since signing up for Christian Chat last Friday (3-15-13), there's been a popping sound repeatedly issued by my computer. I traced it back to CC. The sound comes whenever a person adds a comment on the main forum. I'm getting it even when I'm signed off from CC. How do I cancel this sound? It's driving me nuts.

Regards,

MadeInOhio

I've never heard of anyone having sounds from the forums. You can't really add a post to the main forum, since it just shows all the sub-forums, so i'm not sure what you mean by main forum.
Also, when someone does add a new post, it doesn't show up automatically, you have to refresh the screen or open one of the threads to see the new posts. The site does not refresh itself to show new posts.

Perhaps you mean the Chat room? The chat room does have sounds when people enter a message.

Dear MadeInOhio

It's your speakers. You'll need to go out and purchase a $300 quadraphonic surround system to eliminate the noise.

Sincerely, SK

P.S. I'm kidding. :) It's the chat rooms making the noise whenever a person types and enters a message. You can disable chat sounds.

If you are getting the popping sounds from CC when you are not logged in you must have CC chat up on a window that you minimized but failed to close. Probably the guest window that you log in from.
