Slightly embarrassing question. I recently had an updated version of NetbNanny installed on my PC? since then it has started freezing and crashing quite often. Might this just be a coincidence?

Maybe send them an email and tell them that the new update has crashed your pc, maybe they did the new update to work around the new operating system, sometimes when software are updated, they don't realise that people has different operating systems. they seem to think that every one has the same. But you can email them and let them know your operating system, I.E Xp? vista? or windows 7 or 8? they may have the right update for you. or it could be your firewall or security software that could be interfering with the Net Nanny software. But email them, and explain to them your problem.

Thanks for the helpful and rapid response. I will pass it on to my dad as he is the one who actually installed it .

Define "crashing" for me and I can probably let you know what's causing the conflict. :)

The screen freezes and I have to shut it down and then sometimes it just closes down for no reason.

If it closes down (as in the computer powers off) out of nowhere, then that's a hardware problem. Freezing may be from the software, though. So the question is - what do you mean by closing down?

See if he can uninstall the software temporarily and try to recreate the problem(s). That will help you isolate the problem.

i don't think he will want me to use the PC without any parental controls on it. Maybe he could just go back to the earlier version?

Yeah, he can. I will just say though - if you meant the computer is completely powering off, then the software is almost certainly not the problem. I'm not sure which version of Windows you're running (or if you're running Windows), but you can go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer; logs are automatically created in there that may tell you why the computer froze or shut down.

Hope that helps!
