Hi, just a question: What is Rep power? What is it given for and who gives it? Thanks, MPW

Rep power can be given by any of us to someone else. No one knows exactly how it works but I've been paying close attention to my powers and points lately, and here is what I figured out. When a new user joins, once they post in the forums they get a green bar above their name, and when they reach 50 posts, they gain a rep power. If a person with multiple rep powers gives you a rep comment, you receive points equal to their powers.

In other words, if someone with 10 rep powers gave you a rep comment, you would gain 10 rep points. I've noticed the number of posts increases with each power you receive, meaning you have to reach a certain number of posts to gain another rep power, UNLESS someone with multiple powers puts you over the limit--then you gain another green bar AND a rep power! :) Anyone can give rep points/ powers--even you! LOL. :) You can give rep comments by clicking on the star-shaped icon in the lower left-hand side of any post reply box. You can leave a comment, or just your name, or no comment at all. Most people who rep comment me dont make any comment or leave their name but I wish they would so I know who to thank. :)

I hope this helps you better understand rep points and powers. :)

Most of what blue said has not been verified as being true. Even Admins and Mods don't say that that is how it works.

Truth is even the Admins admit to not fully understanding it.

It's rather easy to figure it out if you pay attention to WHEN and HOW your rep points and powers increase. I did'nt say that it was verified. I said it was what I had noticed with my own points/ powers. :) For example, this week alone, after receiving 9 rep comments and numerous points from people with multiple powers, I went from 2 green bars up to 4, AND gained 2 more rep powers, bringing me up to 6 powers. It DOES have something to do with the number of posts a person does. As I said, I've been studying my points and powers carefully, and multiple posts and rep points/ comments seems to be the common factor.

Try it for yourself, ugly. Keep track and see how the points/powers increase. :)

Interesting.... And ya I wish when ppl rep me they leave their names at least, when I rep which is often because I like to help ppl I leave a comment and my name so they know why I gave it to them and who I am I have seen ppl with less than 200 posts and having 4 rep power, they all joined two or more years ago but just recently started posting again

Reputation can be either good or bad... a high reputation notwithstanding. Now in your case it's all good.

rep power is part of the forum software this site uses. by default IIRC A new box is added for every 100 reputation points but can be changed by admins to what ever they want (make it easier or harder to get another "box"
