The Tree of knowledge, to know good from evil, was given as a sign of the natural law.

Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. (tree of knowledge)

When we ate from the tree of the law(knowledge to know good from evil) we then were made aware of our
sins, and then our eyes were opened and we saw our own nakedness; just like Adam and Eve.

What we once thought was good for us, became
death to us, just as the Lord said; the day you eat of it, surely you shall die.

Romans 6:23;"For the wages of
sin is death
; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

It was not the fruit of the tree of knowledge that was
death to us, but rather it was the sinful
nature that worked in our old fleshy minded man.

Romans 7:5;"For when we were in the
flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death
."

So even though we once thought the natural law was life to us, we being evil by nature were decieved, and the natural law(the knowledge to know good from evil) became
death to us by reason of our own sins
.

Romans 7:11;"For
sin taking occassion by the commandment, decieved me, and by it slew me."

Just as the serpent (sin) took occasion by Gods commandment, and deceived woman and man, and therefore sin became death.

But thank God for the mercy he showed us in the spiritual Tree of Life, which is afforded to all of us who believe in the remission of our sins through the offering of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Revelation 3:18
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. :)

Interesting comments, yet is it not written that "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit"?

In Genesis 2:9, "And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil."

While it states that out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree, it includes the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil, however it distinguishes the tree of life as being also in the midst of the garden, but not the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
So one might draw the inference that while both trees are imaginary, the fruit of the tree of life is the use of reason in discernment based upon known and observed principles whereas the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is the use of imagination in discernment based upon imaginary thoughts and beliefs.

Therefore, in Genesis 2:16-17 it is written, "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

However, in Genesis 1:29, it is written, "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat." So what is the fruit of reason? (truth, knowledge, understanding?) What is the fruit of imagination? (falsehood, deception, lies?)

Now in Genesis 6:5, it is written And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. In such, does anyone consider that the gift of tongues, or rather the ability to speak was only given to the beast that the Elohim [Gods] made in Genesis 1:25. And the Gods made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and the Gods saw that it was good.

While I am aware of the Christian doctrine that acurses anyone that interprets the term 'Eloyhim' as Gods, since after all Strongs defines the term God in Genesis 1:25 as:

OT:430 'elohiym (el-o-heem'); plural of OT:433;gods in the ordinary sense; Whereas OT:433 'elowahh (el-o'-ah; rarely (shortened) 'eloahh (el-o'-ah); from OT:410; a deity or the Deity:]

So therefore, in Genesis 1:26, it wasn't the Spirit and the Word, who in Genesis 2 are referred unto as the LORD God, that it is written "And the Gods said, Let us make man in our image and after our likeness". In such, man was not made a living soul with the ability to speak? nor made male and female?

God (not gods) created all things by His Word. Genesis 1:25 "And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good."

Also the tree of knowledge to know good from evil was not evil itself, because after man ate of it he knew good from evil like God. Genesis 3:22[SUP] "[/SUP]And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever"

Yes, and we see by this similitude that a man can eat from the tree of knowledge all his life, but unless he eats of the tree of Life, then how can he live forever?

Genesis 3:22[SUP]22 [/SUP]And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever

Proverbs 14:12 [SUP] [/SUP]There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

It seems easy to look at Adam and Eve and say "Just don't eat the fruit".

But how can a person stop this cycle? Well they can't. Only the Lord Jesus can stop it.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Paul explains what happens after you come to Christ this way;
Galatians 3:23-26
[SUP]23 [/SUP]But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

I wish we could increase peoples faith just by talking about it.
