The context is in verse 1. It is the time of our "gathering" to Christ, and the "day of Christ". This context is derived from the discomfort of the saints in Thessaloniki because, in deep persecution, some had taught them that the Great Tribulation had started and that they therefore had missed "being gathered to the Lord".

Now, "being gathered to the Lord" means that the Lord is somewhere else, and we are taken by some other force to where He is. The only time the Church is "gathered" to Christ is in 1st Thessalonians 4:14-17 - the rapture to the clouds. And the term "DAY of Christ" is in opposition to the "DAY of the Lord". If you study the other mentions of the "day of Jesus Christ" you will see that it alsways refers to the Church being taken to Christ for judgment. And if the you study all the mentions of the "Day of the Lord" you will find tha it is that time when God pours out wrath on ungodly men on the whole earth. So Paul is telling the saints at Thessaloniki that certain events must take place before they are Raptured and the Great Tribulation starts. The main one is the revealing of the "man of lawlessness".

What man, and what Law does he break? The man is the predicted Beast of Daniel and Revelation, and he breaks the Law of Moses by entering the Holy of Holies of the "Temple of God". And how does he get there? Surely the Jews will read their Law and refuse such a man? But no! At Christ's trial they ignored the Law and claimed Caesar as their king. And now, after 2,000 years of hearing the gospel, and of hearing about Christ via the Church, they still choose an IMPOSTER. Why do they do that? It is a MYSTERY! Men all over the world know that Israel is who Israel is. All know of the Law of Moses. And yet all men allow, nay support the deception of the Beast. Why? Because if a man looks the truth in the eye, and refuses it, God sends him delusion. See Romans 1:18-28.

• Christ came, never injured a soul and fulfilled over 330 prophecies. He is murdered
• Christ send disciples to all men to preach glad tidings of reconciliation to God for free for 2,000 years. They are murdered
• Christ sends angels to preach "the everlasting gospel", and men ignore them
• Christ foretells all men, via a Book, that He will appear from the sky. Men revile His name
• A Caesar comes out of the pit and claims God's Seat in the Sanctuary of a Temple in Jerusalem - all against the Law of Moses, AND MEN BELIEVE HIM AND ACCEPT HIM!

WHY? Because men LOVED A LIE and hated the truth. Men loved LAWLESSNESS and hated RIGHTEOUSNESS. So God turns their thoughts from darkness to the blackest of nights. Even in the hour when all is revealed, men believe a lie. Their natural defense against untruth is removed by their Maker, and they go from untruth, to deception, to folly, to TRIBULATION.

"God desires that all men should be saved (delivered) and come unto the knowledge of the truth". I am supposing that you are quoting from Roman's 10. If so, The people that Paul is praying about are born again babes in Christ, who have "a zeal of God" which indicates that they are born again. As newborn babes in Christ, they were ignorant of God's righteousness (lost sheep) and were going about trying to establish their own righteousness, (by their good works). This is why Jesus instructed his Apostles to go and preach to the lost sheep of the "house of Israel" (which is the "house of Jacob")

Israel, in this verse, has reference to Jacob, whose name was changed to be called Israel.

Thank you, that is a very sobering truth. It is the mystery of iniquity. We must wage spiritual war in our own hearts. Driving out the enemies of our promised land of sanctification and holiness. There will be a constant war waged by spiritual wickedness in high places to try to get us to relax and think that sin is no big deal and we can indulge and still go to heaven. This is the front lines of battle for the most holy people. But they recognize that liar and don't fall for his strategies.

In this scripture verse it tells of those without faith in Christ as those with "pleasure in unrighteousness".

The gospel states that we are to give our sins to Christ for forgiveness, these people have pleasure in their sins rather than giving sins to Christ. It is another way of telling us to repent.

Since it mentions the final destruction of that Wicked, spoken about is more detail in Revelation when his armies are gathered to fight in Armegeddon and are destroyed at the return of Christ, it should probably be interpreted as an explanation of this prophesy which starts in Daniel and includes the Administration of this Anitchrist which will begin when the first seal is opened and the rider on the white horse goes forth conquering and continuing to conquer until he has gained world domination. This first horseman is a judgment like the other three. The Judgment is that the world will be given over to his power, the judgment includes this deception that he is worthy of trust or to be believed or to be relied on, and the reason people will put confidence in him is because they have been given over to their darkness because they love the pleasures of sin for a season and his administration supports them in their rebellion against a holy God. They will believe that he works the mighty works of God, and has supernatural powers that verify his authority to be trusted.

This will culminate in their gathering in Megiddo to fight against Christ. They will be so deceived they will think they have a chance to win. Like a bunch of demon possessed orcs.

If a person does not have the truth it is because the Word of God is spiritually discerned, understood only through the light of the Holy Spirit. No Holy Spirit/ no light, .....no light/ no truth. Those who are deceived CANNOT repent because they are convinced in their own minds that they are right!

The endless bickering in the bible chats are witness to that. You cannot teach the dead. There MJST be that second birth. They have no ears to hear, eyes to see and their heart are hard against the pure truth of scripture. They have no discernment (which is a gift of God to His people via the Holy Spirit of truth) to sort out truth from error. Some come close....so close you give it a try to show them, but when the mind is held captive, it cannot be set free except by God's grace.........so that even a "LITTLE" leaven spoils the whole loaf.

Men.. I would offer.

When a person does the pleasure of their own will And not the pleasure God who both wills and empowers a person do do it .They are shown those who do seek after lying wonders .God sends a strong delusion so that they might continue to beleive the lying wonder.

The person in Mathew 7 as the many that knew not Christ is shown doing his own will . The Bible did not say he did not perform them But shows he was not sent. The Bible reveals God is not served by human hands. He can move a donkey to bring prophecy and stop the madness of self appointed apostle prophets.

Hebrew 6 informs us as the the better thing that accompany salvation not add . . he will not forget the good works we offer toward his name. No self-edification as a lying wonder. I did it, it proves it.

I think you misquoted the Scriptures. 10 and 11 are exactly the same in your comment, but that is not how they appear in my Bible.

Context is very important. With the understanding that those in 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 are the worshippers of the beast; it is then the beast's system which the whole world who are not written in the lambs book of life (Revelation 13:4 & 8), will for their carnal pleasures, choose this lie over the truth, in regards to the beast's systems destructiveness (Revelation 12:12).

Revelation 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
