your first sentence does not make sense to me.
But I will the Jonah reference he made was talking about destroying the temple and him raising it up in 3 days.
Nights and Day?
Night starts from the evening and ends 12am. The next day starts from 12am.
So Jesus saying NIght and Day is still accurate. We call night because it is darkness. Jesus was in immersed in complete darkness inside the tomb. Therefore I believe that is what he was talking about.

Yes I know that Christmas is just man made.
But here is an interesting point, it doesn't matter if we follow Christmas or not because it is a public holiday and no one would be working on that day (except emergency people)

But how can everyday be God's sabbath when you are not resting? Sabbath means to rest right? but we are working are we not? which nullifies the purpose.
also didn't Jesus say we shouldn't work for food that spoils but set our eyes on things above?

that is stupid to me. How can going to church on Saturday be following the law. What law? did the bible say we should go church on Saturday? And you say it's against Jesus. How so?
which is worst, going to church on Saturday which is the sabbath (Jesus and Paul preached during sabbath) or Going to church on sunday (which means nothing)?
Hoping this might help to your quest about being in rest every day Romans 14:5-9
[SUP]5 [/SUP]One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. [SUP]6 [/SUP]He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. [SUP]7 [/SUP]For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Also in Hebrews 3:16-19
[h=3]Failure of the Wilderness Wanderers[/h][SUP]16 [/SUP]For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? [SUP]17 [/SUP]Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? [SUP]18 [/SUP]And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? [SUP]19 [/SUP]So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

I know, and I have prayed about this for understanding. But what is made obsolete? We can say nothing of God is made obsolete. We know the blood of animals is obsolete, and the importance of rituals gives way to the importance of the spiritual meaning of them, as we can now understand through the Holy Spirit. God the Father is not obsolete. It takes great understanding to know what God is telling us.
What is taken away is the Law of Moses taken out of the way of man trying to obey it,For Christ fullfilled it, this is what he came to dow as fill the Law and Prophets of the Old Covenant Testament (Matthew 5:17). At his death on the cross he took away the first so that he could establish the second (Hebrews 9:15-17) where in the second GOD the Father is not dealing with anyone that has come to belief, on the basis of sin Hebrews 10:17 states this your sins and lawless acts I will remember no more. So what is Father doing then? It seems like greasy grace and I can just go and od what ever Iwant since Iam forgiven and God is not seeing my Sin WOW!!!!!
Well you all this is exactly what the Corinthians were doing and not understanding what this greasy grace meant. So this is why Paul wrote the Corinthians, now when reading it if you or me or anyone else is taking advantage of such a great salvation, might turn to a Godly sorrow and away from the worldly sorrow that they had
This new covenant was never meant for anyone to take advantage of it was and is meant to appreciate our loving God and Father of Christ, and in response we ask Father waht to do ands Father leads by the Holy Ghost that was given to us in love and then we pass out that love his love as what is said in 1 cor 13 that is the fullfillment of the Law all law and this is whatGod wants to shed abroad in our hearts our new hearts and has unfortuantelya lot of us as believers are not aware of this. THE NEW COVENANT IS LOVE GOD'S TYPE AS IN 1 COR.13

Many have stumbled over this Issue. This is important to understand because salvation is very much connected to your conclusion on this.

what is the Old Covenant?

Some may remember that there was a "book of the covenant"

Exo 24:7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.

This book was made up of:
1. The 10 Commandments
2. Judgments for breaking the commandments and for keeping them.
3. ceremonial laws of feasts etc.

We find a fuller understanding of this "book of the law" in Deuteronomy, which means second law or law repeated.

You may remember that Paul spoke of this law in Galatians.

Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

This is taken from the book of the law.

Deu 27:26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Let us note a few things, this covenant of the "book of the law" contains a few things and Paul is saying that unless you do all of those things, meaning obey the 10 commandments and keep all the ceremonial law. which are only empty works then you bring condemnation on yourself.

but we find else where that God narrows down the covenant even further.

Exo 34:28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

notice here that the words of the covenant are the 10 commandments.

So we have the 10 commandments which are the Covenant and we have the book of the law which also contains the covenant only with judgments etc on top.

Paul makes it clear in Galatians that keeping the whole book of the law is in error and is akin to salvation by works. Why?

Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Here Paul makes it clear that Jesus has become the curse for us. why?

so that the blessing of who? Abraham might come on the Gentiles. How? through Jesus Christ.

Praise God even us Gentiles have the same blessing that Abraham had.

It is important to know that the "book of the law" contains both blessings and curses. Blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. obedience to what?

As seen the 10 commandments are the covenant. Notice that Jesus in Galatians removes only the curses but not the blessings. what happens with the blessings?

We just read it, they are given to the Gentiles. The very same blessings given to Abraham. So Jesus takes away the bad but maintains that which is good. So we already know by this that the blessings remain from the book of the law according to Paul. Abraham had those same blessings and was given the covenant why?

Gen 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Here is why Abraham received the blessings, because he kept Gods law.

Some may say, "we are under the new covenant so the 10 commandments are gone for they were in the book of the law"

We have already seen that Paul does not thing everything from the book of the law is done away with. clearly the blessings remain. we have also seen that the 10 commandments are separate from the book of the law even though they are included in it.

before we look at the new covenant let us first notice something.

10 commandments

Exo 31:18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

1. Written by God himself

Deu 10:1 At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
Deu 10:2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
Deu 10:3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.
Deu 10:4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.
Deu 10:5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.

2. put in the ark of the covenant, hence the reason it is called the ark of the covenant.

Book of the Law

Deu 31:24 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

1. Moses wrote the book of the law

Deu 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

2. they were on the side of the ark not in the ark itself.

clearly there is a distinction between the two.

So what is the New covenant?

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Notice that the new covenant was made in our hearts and it was the law both in our hearts and our minds.

So a law must still remain. what law?

2Co 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

notice that Paul makes it clear that it is the Holy Spirit who writes and he writes where, on the "tables of the Heart. clearly here he is making a parallel with the 10 commandments. It is no longer on tables of stone but now on tables of the heart.

The New covenant is a renewing of the old but better.

1. not the blood of animals but the blood of Jesus.

2. Not a earthly high priest but Jesus our high priest.

3. not an outward law but an inward law.

In the old days God dwelt above the mercy seat where the law was kept.

Now Jesus dwells in our hearts where the law is now written by the Holy Spirit.

There is so much more that can be said. so many connections to be made.

This is why Paul could say:

Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

It is by the spirit that Jesus fulfills the law "IN" us.

Blessings all.
I'm glad I stumbled across this thread :)

If you don't see the cross then you failed
Here is a "foreshadow" of the cross.
Exodus 15:23-26
23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying , What shall we drink ?
25 And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet : there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
26 And said , If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Metaphors
Tree=cross
sweet water=Jesus
diseases=transgressions of the lost
Egyptians=the ways of the world

John 4:5-10
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink .
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink ; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

The father of Ephraim was Joseph who grew up in Egypt (gentile=non Jew) and Jacob was renamed Israel, one of Jacob's sons was Judah who is the ancestor of Jesus. Joshua was of the tribe of Ephraim. Jesus in Greek is Joshua in Hebrew. Caleb was of the tribe of Judah

Romans 2:9-10
9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

Ezekiel 37:15-22
15 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying ,
16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying , Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone , and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

Put it together. "T" The sign of the cross sticks. The 22nd and final letter of the Hebrew alphabet. "Tav".
