Re: Sunday - the first day of the week

Nowhere did God sanctify or hallow any other day than the 7th Day! You are on a slippery slope that will lead to you to accept the Mark of the Beast (sunday observance of the Sabbath). Somthing tells me you have already accepted Satans Mark.

In Heb 4:9 the Greek word, "sabbatismos" (Strong’s number 4520) is translated "rest" instead of the correct translation of "Sabbath rest". "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God." Instead of "There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God."

Don't believe me? Go to the greek
Sabbatismos means a keeping of a sabbath. It could refer to the keeping of a weekly sabbath, a 7-year land sabbath, or a festival sabbath. Context determines the type of sabbath.

The verb form of this word is σαββατίζω (sabbatizo). It means to keep a sabbath; and is used in the Septuagint (LXX) to refer to all three types of sabbaths listed above.

The most interesting usage is in Leviticus 23:32 where it is used to describe the keeping of the sabbath of the day of atonement, which is called a sabbath of sabbaths (essentially a most holy sabbath). That sabbath was the holiest day of the year.

IMO, the future fulfillment of this day is what the writer of Hebrews is referring to in verses 4:8-11. Leviticus 23:32 says that the children of Israel were to keep the sabbath (sabbatizo) of their sabbaths. I think the writer of Hebrews leveraged this Greek word in the LXX when he wrote Hebrews 4:9 with a view to the future fulfillment of the day of atonement, the true and final keeping of the sabbath (sabbatismos) of sabbaths that yet remained for the people of GOD. That day is when they finally enter into eternal rest.

Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. - Romans 14:19

Well my question about which gospel we're talking about had to do with the fact that I hear "but Paul said etc." much much more than I hear "Jesus said this about that." If whatever Paul said seemed to contradict anything Jesus said, I'd think we'd immediately readdress our interpretation of what Paul was saying. If we think Paul said anything different than what Jesus said, we shouldn't even be listening to Paul.
i don`t know anyone who understands grace and truth who would say paul said anything different from Jesus.
the notion is popular among certain groups, though.

they have come up with The New Perspective on Paul.

anyway....there`s no contradiction between Paul and Jesus.

Galatians 3:8
Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."

Romans 1:1
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God

Acts 28:28
"Therefore I want you to know that God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!"

Romans 15:8
Christ the Hope of Jews and Gentiles
8For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, 9and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,

“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles,
and sing to your name.”

10And again it is said,

“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.”

11And again,

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles,
and let all the peoples extol him.”

12And again Isaiah says,

“The root of Jesse will come,
even he who arises to rule the Gentiles;
in him will the Gentiles hope.”

13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 15
Paul the Minister to the Gentiles

14I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers,a that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another. 15But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God 16to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. 17In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. 18For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, 19by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; 20and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, 21but as it is written,

“Those who have never been told of him will see,
and those who have never heard will understand.”

Galatians 3:21
Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.

Galatians 2:21
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.

Acts 9:15
But the Lord said to Ananias, "Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.

Acts 13:48
47For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set you to be a light of the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth. 48And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. 49And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region

Acts 22:21
"Then the Lord said to me, 'Go; I will send you far away to the Gentiles.'"

Mentioning the first day is a reference to its source, the Word. The name is in Genesis, and the Hebrew lunar calendar is based on the lunar cycle and information from the Word.

What many do not realize is, when the Hebrew scholars first compiled the information for the calendar, they utilized the time furnished by the Word. It begins with the creation and the years of the Hebrew calendar are numbered using the numbers given in the genealogies of the Word.

When it was evident some of the figures were missing, most likely deliberately omitted, rather than break the law by guessing or adding to the figures furnished by the Word, they opted to leave them out. Doing this satisfied the law, but more importantly, it leaves the actual Hebrew year a mystery.

The very intriguing part of this history of the Hebrew calendar is that some genealogies were deliberately omitted, and with this in mind along with the several times mentioned thousand years like a day when it is passed to our Father, we know the actual beginning of the seventh millennium could be any day now.

Since you so graciously pointed out, the number of years of the greatest tribulation ever is not actually stated as seven years, however people far more knowledgeable than I, and probably anyone in this forum, have always calculated it to be seven years.

We will know when the Greatest Tribulation ever is here only after we are actually experiencing it, those of us who are yet in the flesh that is. This will not allow anyone to know the precise day it will end and Yeshua returns, but it will be a wonderful, spiritual heads up for those who know what to expect.

As all should already know, the names of the days of the week are named for pagan deities.

this is nothing to do with the subject. if we have holy days, Sunday is a holy day...for all the reasons listed in the opening posts.

Re: Sunday - the first day of the week HOLY HOLY HOLY LORD GOD ALMIGHTY.

ALL ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK:

Mark 16
Jesus Has Risen

1When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. 2Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”

4But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

6“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’ ”

8Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.a

[The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have verses 9–20.]

9When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. 10She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping. 11When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it.

12Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country. 13These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either.

14Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.

15He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17And these signswill accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons;they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakeswith their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands onsick people, and they will get well.”

19After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heavenand he sat at the right hand of God. 20Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signsthat accompanied it

There is not a commandment making Sunday, the day of the Sun, the Sabbath. The commandment names the Seventh Day to be holy, marked, remembered, set apart. I am not under any law except those of Yeshua, therefore I choose to observe what He, commanded. It is not a burden, and I really do not mind observing it the same day He did.

As far as Yeshua rising on Sunday, He was crucified on Friday, right? It is prophesied He would, like Jonah in the big fish, pass three days in the belly of the earth. There has always been a lot of debate on whether He rose on the third day after Friday, that is Monday or the day of the Moon, or what day.

All I know is I love Him for what He did for you, for me, and for all. As for observing the Seventh day, this is my choice according to Paul, and it is a pleasure to observe the same day with the Jews.

Well...im not a 7th day Adventist. I simply read the Word and believe. Its all 10 commandments. Not the Sabbath only

REV.14 [9] And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,[10] The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

above scripture sign – hand - forehead (between the eyes) - cup of indignation – the bad guys
below scriptures sign – hand - between thine eyes (forehead) - the ten commandments – the good guys

DEUT.6 [2] That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and HIS COMMANDMENTS, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.[3] Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.[4]Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: [5]And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. [6]And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: [7]And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. [8]And thou shalt bind them for A SIGN UPON THINE HAND, and they shall be as FRONTLETS BETWEEN THINE EYES.

Not hard to figure those who receive the mark.

Today if you hear his voice, don't harden your heart in unbelief, which will prevent you from keeping his final sabbath. Nothing about keeping a weekly sabbath there.

Future? Today if you hear His voice

HEBREWS 4 [10] For HE THAT IS ENTERED INTO HIS REST, he also hath ceased from his own works, AS GOD DID FROM HIS. [11] Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Well...Ya see what it says. Now lets see how God rested from His work

HEBREWS 4 [4] For he spake in a certain place of THE SEVENTH DAY on this wise, And GOD DID REST THE SEVENTH DAY from all his works

Yup. God rested the 7th day. Pretty simple
the tiny remnant who entered The Promised Land (type) with JOSHUA (type) did indeed REST. God gave them REST (type):

Joshua 21:44
43And the LORD gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelled therein. 44And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he swore to their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel; all came to pass.

Joshua 23:1
After a long time had passed and the LORD had given Israel rest from all their enemies around them, Joshua, by then a very old man,

.....

THIS BOOK WAS WRITTEN TO THE HEBREWS - they were being instructed about the SUBSTANCE which is Christ, compared to the types (Joshua; the Land; Rest).

they were WARNED, using the exodus and wilderness as an example of NOT entering into the TRUE REST due to unbelief!
we are told the promised land was NOT the true rest.

Hebrews 4
1Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.a 3Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,

“So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. 4For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”c 5And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”

6Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, 7God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”

8For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

Hebrews 3
Jesus Greater Than Moses
1Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. 2He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. 3Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. 4For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. 5“Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,”a bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. 6But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

Warning Against Unbelief
7So, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
8do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the wilderness,
9where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.
10That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”

12See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. 15As has just been said:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.”

16Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? 17And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? 18And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.

above scripture sign – hand - forehead (between the eyes) - cup of indignation – the bad guys
below scriptures sign – hand - between thine eyes (forehead) - the ten commandments – the good guys

[8]And thou shalt bind them for A SIGN UPON THINE HAND, and they shall be as FRONTLETS BETWEEN THINE EYES.

Not hard to figure those who receive the mark.
Deuteronomy 6
24The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today. 25And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.”

Deuteronomy 27:26
26 Cursed be he that confirms not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Galatians 3:10
10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that does them shall live in them

Romans 4:15
13For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15 Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

Romans 7:10

I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.

1 Corinthians 15:56
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

Romans 3:20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Romans 3:21
21But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and on all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Not hard to figure those who receive the mark.
not hard to figure out those who CHOOSE to place themselves under a CURSE!
severed from Grace!

Just a reminder...
James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

...and don't forget the strict Levitical diet why you are all busy crossing your T's and dotting your 'l's. Sheesh, what bondage.

Warning Against Unbelief
7So, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
8do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the wilderness,
9where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.
Yes zone. Its a warning against unbelief. Ya see what Hebrews 3 says. Now just go back and see why their carcases fell in the wilderness

HEBREWS 3 [12]Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. [13] But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. [14] For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; [15] While it is said, to day if ye will hear his voice, HARDEN NOT YOUR HEARTS, AS IN THE PROVOCATION. [16] For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came OUT OF EGYPT by Moses. [17] But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, WHOSE CARCASES FELL IN THE WILDERNESS? [18] And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? [19] So we see that THEY COULD NOT ENTER IN BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF.

Scripture above (out of Egypt - into the wilderness - those that believed not - destroyed them)
Scripture below (out of Egypt - into the wilderness - polluted HIS SABBATHS - destroyed them)

EZEK.20 [10] Wherefore I caused them to go forth OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT, and brought them INTO THE WILDERNESS. [11] And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.[12] Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.[13] But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and MY SABBATHS THEY GREATLY POLLUTED: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them IN THE WILDERNESS, TO CONSUME THEM.

Theres your evil heart of unbelief.

not hard to figure out those who CHOOSE to place themselves under a CURSE!
DEUT.11 [26] Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;[27] A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:[28] And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known

Yeah. Not hard to figure at all. Pauls writings on the other hand

2 PETER 3 [15] And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; [16] As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which THEY THAT ARE UNLEARNED AND UNSTABLE WREST, AS THEY DO ALSO THE OTHER SCRIPTURES, UNTO THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION.

Yeah. There hard to figure

Now lets try and use the brain God gave us. God wrote with His own finger the 10 commandments. Zone is trying to tell us that if we obey His voice and keep the 10 commandments we then are under a curse. If we dont obey and walk not in His commandments then we will be blessed. Is that really really out there or what!
