What is that condition of human nature? Did Adam's sin convey guilt and a depraved nature to Adam's descendants? How free is human free will? How necessary are the Spirit and Grace of God in order for right relationship to be established between a Holy God and a human individual?
How dependent is God upon human free will? How dependent is a human being upon God's free grace?
Note: Chart above was taken Source: Geisler, N L. (2004). Systematic theology, volume three: sin, salvation (pp.144–145). Minneapolis, MN: Bethany House Publishers (also available via Logos Bible Software, Bellingham, WA USA)
The thread author's position most closely resembles a moderate "Calvinist" position but believes that the doctrines called "Calvinism" would not consistently match with those of Mr. John Calvin (1509-1564) himself. The doctrines called "Calvinism" can be traced to the Dutch Synod of Dordt (1618-1619).
Calvinism in the extreme appears opposed to notions of responsible human free will and evangelism. Pelagianism in the extreme appears opposed to notions of original sin and any imputation of Adam's sin.
What are your thoughts? Light and insight are preferred over heat and hostility. Ideally, this thread would include respectful discussion and instruction and avoid unpleasant diatribes. But, that outcome is dependent upon the nature of the participants.
