“And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint: And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭25:29-33‬ ‭

in the New Testament written to us in the church who believe , there is a lesson that regards this event . A warning to us that we need to get right and not be like esau and choose the moment of flesh , over the eternity of the inheritance

“Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way;

but let it rather be healed.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:12-17‬ ‭

esau begged and pleaded later to have any blessing or any inheritance as his father lay dying his tears flowed from his heart of sorrow but the lesson were taught here is that those tears found no repentance for his lost inheritance which he devalued less than a bowl of stew that satisfied his desire for a moment , but his sorrow remained unanswered

the Hebrews writer is teaching Christians something immensely valuable we don’t want to be as esau and end up selling our inheritance for the flesh desires , and in the end like esau we will be weeping bitterly and gnashing our teeth while the wedding supper is filled with others who accepted the invite and attended the banquet

repentance doesn’t mean we are perfect but we need to let the truth about sin into our living faith in our heart. Once we let the truth about sin in repentance will begin to root and we can inherit the kingdom understanding that the stew might taste great but it’s gone in a moment , the inheritance is forever

God bless you thanks for reading the storybook 😅
