When you think about God, which of His many great characteristics comes to mind first?
Today, for me, it was his ability and willingness to forgive and forget. He is ready to freely impart this great grace-gift to whosover is wise and humble enough to plead the blood of His dear Son.
It is so sad that carnal men count forgiveness as unmanliness and the ability to forget as lack of mental prowness. The man of God would do well to value the praise and acceptance of this world as less than naught.
(Luke 6:26 [KJV])
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
When I pondered how I might best expres my thanks and gratefulness to Him, the thing that came to mind was seeking to be content with whatever grace for the moment my Lord has decided is best for me. This came to me as I observed my little cat. So long as I keep his water fresh, his potty-pan clean, and feed him a few times a day, He is more than content. He will jump up on my lap and purr himself to sleep. I wonder if God looks down at him and says to Himself, "I wish my people were so easy to please."
(1Tim 6:6-8 [KJV])
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into [this] world, [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out.
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
