All these threads and nothing about the Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread. Seems that would be on peoples' minds.

I will be joyfully celebrating Jesus' sacrifice for me this Friday night and Saturday. I am humbled, yet thankful for His gracious gift to me and all of His people!

I saw a really cute funky sketch about the Passover, done by some Jews! I learned a few new Yiddish words, too!

I celebrate Easter, although I realize that Jesus is the one Passover foretold. No need to pretend I am Jewish, when I am a Gentile. I think Paul said that??

"Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ." Col. 2:16-17

Then of course, there is the reason why we don't need to celebrate Passover - that is because we don't need to sacrifice any more! Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed!!

"Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed." 1 Cor. 5:7

To continue with sacrifice would be pointless because you cannot outdo perfection. Jesus was and is the perfect sacrifice that cannot be surpassed. Praise God!!!

Exodus 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exodus 12:6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Exodus 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

Exodus 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Exodus 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Exodus 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
Matthew 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Remission:

1) release from bondage or imprisonment
2) forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they
had never been committed), remission of the penalty

Websters: A temporary subsidence of a disease or of pain, as distinguished from intermission, in which the disease completely leaves the patient for a time; abatement.

Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

John 6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
John 6:33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
John 6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

I love the passage earlier on in Matthew: (Two days before Passover)

I've always wondered, if this was a fulfillment, given the examples of oil and ointment in the OT.

Matthew 26:7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. kjv

When Aaron was sanctified and made Priest over Israel along with his sons. Moses was to pour anointing oil on his head.

Also, when Kings were chosen in Israel:

1 Samuel 16:11 And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
1 Samuel 16:12 And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
1 Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

2 Kings 9:3 Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.

Exodus 29:6 And thou shalt put the mitre upon his head, and put the holy crown upon the mitre.
Exodus 29:7 Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him.

Matthew 26:8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?
Matthew 26:9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
Matthew 26:10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
Matthew 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
Matthew 26:12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.
Matthew 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

Exodus 30:25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
Exodus 30:26 And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony,
Exodus 30:27 And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense,
Exodus 30:28 And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot.
Exodus 30:29 And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.
Exodus 30:30 And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.

A burnt offering represents devotion.
A peace offering represents connection.
The Passover represents God's judgment as He looks for who is covered by the blood and who isn't, and then we must consider the trespass overing, and the sin offering. Sure, it is true that we don't sacrifice and lamb and smear the blood on our house, but there is an unchanging spiritual significance God wants us to be involved with by remembering that the sacrifice of His only Son was what was planned all along. Should we pass this off as a light thing? If we didn't have the first Passover, how much would we appreciate the final Passover? IT IS FINISHED AND COMPLETED. Not obsolete.

Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. (John 18:37)

A witness to the truth has to be proven by the foreshadowing.

It's amazing how detailed God is in every single thing that He said. When it comes to unleavened bread, there were days set apart for an example of the deeper things of God.

Exodus 34:18 The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.

Exodus 34:25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.

It's so important in fact, that Paul warned the Corinth's:

1 Corinthians 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
1 Corinthians 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

There's so much more about this throughout the word, including the wave offering of two loaves of leavened bread following the week of unleavened bread.

We miss so much by not examining all of the matter.

I'm confused and not quite sure how to word it, why would I want to celebrate an event that didn't happen to my ancestors? Because that's what celebrating the Passover is right? They celebrate and remember what God had done for their people, yeah? But Jesus on the other hand, is the Passover Lamb for all people, is that correct?

Why would we need to celebrate something that represents or foreshadows Jesus Christ the Lord? We have Jesus Himself. We celebrate HIM!!!! Glory to God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You, LORD!

If God doesn't change as Malachi said, and Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then there is no "on the other hand" not to sound ridiculing in the least. God always works in a process of events so that we can observe, understand, and glorify His holy Name. As we know first things have to come first, but as we read in the Old Testament there are several instances that the second became the first, and the first became the last. Genealogy, law and Holy Spirit are all allegorical. First came Ishmael then came Isaac, First came Esau then came Jacob. first came Manasseh, then came Ephraim. First came the law, then came the Spirit. First came the physical lamb on the 14th day of Nisan/Abib, then came Jesus Christ, and on it goes to the finish. Without the first, there is no second. Without a beginning, there can be no finalization. We celebrate God's plan, and remember His glory, seeing His perfection and foreknowledge. What would it mean if all we had was the last without the first?

"But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first." Matthew 19:30

"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." Romans 10:4

Ok, thanks for your answer. Well, so long as we all put full trust that Jesus purges our spiritual leaven and full trust that we pass from spiritual death to life through His one time sacrifice, I'm happy. :)

I personally celebrate the resurrection of Christ like he told me. Often.

As for passover, we do not celebrate that now. we celebrate the death burial and resurrection of Christ often by drinking the cup, and eating the bread. To celebrate because of what Christ did. He "passed over" my sins.

Passover was a symbol. the symbol has been fulfilled. Lets celebrate the fulfillment, not the symbol.

However i do need to give an Easter teaching Friday night at church. So have been well in-tuned to this event.
