Revelation 22:

14 Blessed are those who do His commandments,[g] that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But[h] outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

I know it doesn't mean literal dogs.

I believe he was making the point that you should talk to all who listen, even if you are isolated from your true target (man). This practice will cause you to always be prepared to share the gospel of the Lord.

As for evidence of animals going to heaven, I would say that God would not forsake anything he has made if it has followed its true purpose. As for Scripture to back this thought up though... I seem to be lacking.

Yeah, I dunno but it reminds me of a joke.

A Pastor, a Priest, and a Rabbi are all friends, and one time they decide to have a friendly contest, to see who is the most effective evanglelist. They decide they'll all go into the wilderness, preach to a bear, attempt to convert him, if possible, and meet back in a week.

So they go their separate ways, and a week later, they meet back up.

The Priest says "I found a bear in the woods. I started preaching to him, and he was so enthralled, he sat there for 2 hours while I gave a complete sermon."

The Pastor says "Well, that's nice, but *I* came across a bear at the lake, and he was so amazed by my preaching, he actually let me baptize him right there!"

Then they both look towards their Rabbi friend, who is in a full body cast.

"Looking back," the Rabbi says "Maybe I shouldn't have started with the circumcision."

well I too am not sure but have heard it preached that animals are in Heaven....I do know for a fact that there are horses in Heaven so if horses why not other creatures?:)
as far as preaching to animals what harm could that do anyway, maybe a good way to practice?:D
sometimes they(animals) just may speak to us!

Num 22:28 Then the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?"
Num 22:29 And Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you have abused me. I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would kill you!"
Num 22:30 So the donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden, ever since I became yours, to this day? Was I ever disposed to do this to you?" And he said, "No."

That's a whole DIFFERENT joke.

Don't get TOO mad at your Pastor, folks. Father has been speaking through an ass since the days of Balaam, and he's never stopped using them since. :D

I didn't know I knew so many bible/animal jokes.

Animals are part of the salvation plan too because they were part in the fall. An indirect part mind you. The bible says the lion will lie down with the lamb in the future. Obviously Christ's sacrifices covers the sins of animals as well. You can pray for them, and I would think preaching to them is ok too, but I doubt it would do much good.

My dogs both sat down on the couch and slept while my husband and I were having Bible Study tonight. I think my puppies really like Matthew. now, if only there was scripture on how to potty train a 2 month old puppy...

I never considered this. It is a great question. I know my pets like to lay under my hand when I pray. They also comfort when sad. It would be a delightful surprise in heaven. Ill have to pay attention to this topic when reading scripture.
God bless, pickles

smh. Well about the animals mentioned in the prophecy Mahogony reffered to, that will be during the aleph/khilioi/thousand year reign of our Lord on this earth, not the new one. I've meditated on this before, and have not come upon a scripture that says there will be animals there, other than the reference to our Lord, the Lamb.

It is I suppose debatable...but you can't dispute that Heaven has horses.

Although the bible doesn't say, I think it's probable that the new earth God will make will be like the old one and have animals. Although, when you think about how animals were/are basically failed experiments of God to create a helper for man, I wonder if animals will be on the new earth is there any need for them.

Gray beard what made you think there are horses in the new heavens and earth? Mahogony's point is sound i suppose, except that they later became our food in addition to the vegetation. So why wouldnt they be there to provide us with food? This isn't something that God can't reveal to us, we are the Body of Christ.

isn't that more symbolic?

like Lion of Judah, Lamb of God and the like?

but seriously, I can't imagine God bothering to make all these fabulous animals and then not keeping any of them in heaven when all is over.

Revelations mentions a few like the four horseman....okay agreed that is symbolic:), but I am led to believe that when Jesus returns He will be on a white horse......or do you suggest that that is also symbolic?
Mahogany's view that animals where failed experiments of God....first time I have heard of such a thing and if that be true then that is really a hard pill to swallow....can you or Mahog explain?

animals are there to provide us food as well as other things.

Okay, so I read Genesis and figured that that belief comes from Gen 2:18 to Gen 2:23....right?, as it does appear that animals and birds where created for a helper/help meet/companion/aid (really don't know the exact translation).
but here's the thing....if that is so then chapter one's account of creation on the sixth day (Geneses 1:24 to 31) would be a contradiction...

Gen 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

note that after God created animals..."and God saw that it was good."
so that would dispel the notion they where a failed experiment, He then created Man after animals

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
