Being the “enemy” of the world. I do not hold back my witness at work and I am talked about. I have family that still rejects me because I am Saved. I have grown a tough skin. I think about counting the cost and I know I do not have to do that here in the US like other places, like China or countries in Africa, or the Middle East. People hurt my feelings, but I am not in an underground church….

Why do we reject the precious like the church and do not even go to church, here in the States? When do we make mountains out of molehills over things so simple, like should we go to church, should we tithe, who gets to go to heaven and how does not because of election… (examples)…

I get it is fun to debate, but would you debate these things anywhere but the West?

FREEDOM of speech is not very popular in some countries...especially when it comes to RELIGION. But here in the West we take everything too far ! why ? Not being Disciples of Christ most people have no concept of DISCIPLENE and act and speak 'as they please...mostly in ignorance and because they reject God's teaching.
It was Paul's mission to lead gentiles to Christ...but I don't think he has succeeded yet ! they are still a long way off.

Freedom of speech, where in theory a person can speak their mind, but in reality, it is nothing more than controlled speech in my opinion. People are free to speak their minds as long as they don't offend people, but sadly, the many people offended in this day and age is by someone speaking the truth, or by not being political correct. In other words, people are free to speak about fairy tales, warped teachings, and anything else that doesn't make sense, but the minute someone starts educating someone on real facts, it's hate speech (or some other made up excuse).

Don't know too much about the US and the history of free speech, but what I do know is that many countries around the world, speech is becoming more and more controlled and programmed. And western countries is becoming really bad in this, in my opinion, based on what is happening today.

What is the West to you I wonder? Or to put it another way; how do you personally identify or define the West? (In general to anyone, and to the OP also)

Yes, we got problems, but in my view for the West, even if you want to get specific and just say America frankly in our time the reality is America is by far looking like possibly the only Christian nation left on earth.

This beautiful post is why I urge every Christian in the USA to take a mission trip out of country, at least once in their life. Just by the way some people talk here a truly mature saint can discern who is full of mental assenting communicated Christian knowledge and play games and those who might be the rel deal.

Anyone who goes on real mission trips and ministers life to others would not be so quick to engage in all the silliness we see in the churches in the USA.

I think it is clear that she is referring to Western Europe and North America; especially the US.

I did not realize how many people on here skipped geography in school. "The West" is commonly known for the Western Hemisphere.

I wasn't thinking about it geographically; but rather politically.

I think you will find more freedom to express yourself in Western Europe than in South America.

I agree with you that is how I thought about it as I wrote the post, truthfully US, Canada, and most of Europe... but Europe is not the West... It was just a phrase to use, but I was being facetious... Very funny in my own mind...

I think that from an Asian perspective Western Europe is indeed the West
