As a relatively new Chrisitan, i know that most teenagers make many nasty and sick jokes even though they don't mean it. And as a relatively new Christian, i have found many Christians who think this is ok "as long as you don't do it. And many Christians think doing this is ok because "i know my heart is guarded."

Before you go make a joke that involves any type of sexual immorality or anything that is not pleasing to God, read the following verses:

Titus 2:6-8
Timothy 2:22
Matthew 7:21

Jokes are nice but if you talk like a non beliver and laugh at things that are not pleasing to God, you are showing others that what you are doing is ok. They will think "if he is a Christian and they are supposed to be good people and he still makes sick jokes, then i guess i could too." You will mislead many people and encourage others to sin.

If anyone thinks i am wrong please reply.

Well I think you have to be careful about telling people those jokes. I'm cautious about hen pecking people for telling those jokes around me. Chances are if they're constantly telling those jokes, they are unsaved and frankly that's what unsaved folks do.

I grew up in a 'colorful' family so I'm used to hearing that stuff and although it goes against my morals, I really can't be captain nag-a-lot every time someone tells a joke. To me it's just part of being in the world but not of it. If you nag every time an unbeliever tells a bad joke then that just pushes them away further in my eyes. It makes them more uptight and afraid to be their true self around you.

I'm just speaking for myself here of course. My opinion may or may not necessarily be that of the owner of this website. So if you find yourself disagreeing with what this MOD said, disagree with me and not this site.

Thanks

I TOTALLY agree with ZMR. it's really true. i mean, i can tell - cuz *coughs* im a teen. and well. it's really best to follow God's word.

and laughin at thing not pleasing in the eyes of God.. has been a common stuff nowadays,. it seems that we people tend to be likable. or we don't want others to get disappointed with us. that we even forget. it's not CHRISTian anymore.

it's always in a format like this:
Love GOD above ALL things -- and hate the things God hate.

*I've experienced this a number of times. Who hasn't? Only Jesus. but hey! being imperfect is never an excuse to act like the worLD.

*I understand this as a reminder to us teens ;)

this is a good reminder for us all not just teens,we shouldnt allow, trying to fit in a group affect how we respond to 'worldy' things, and yes adults do it too...God says we are in this world but not of this world, we are supposed to be different, if we arent..somethings wrong.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is, but personally I think that in order for a joke to actually be a joke, both the teller and the listener should find it funny. It is offensive to either, you probably should be telling it. That's not to say that telling jokes about sexual immorality or other taboo acts in Christianity is right, but I think we need to keep in mind that these "jokes" have been around for a long time, and rarely (if ever) do they actually reflect our own values.
