I have a question about baptism. For those who have been baptized by water, before baptism, were you required to voice your testimony or go through some sort of interview? I was wondering since my concerns are that I get very nervous and I stutter too much to where I may not pass the interview and lots of times my mind goes blank. I just cannot verbally give my testimony plus I'm afraid I only have one shot and if they think I'm not ready to be baptized, there will be no second chances or additional chances that I will be given. Hopefully I won't have to voice my testimony or give an interview before baptism if I do wish to get baptized. I also have to tell you that I have a feeling the interview is as harsh as a job interview if they have one before baptism.

It depends upon the person baptizing you. Almost all will want to know that you are truly a believer in Jesus and His work on the cross. Most will not require you to speak publically. Go to the person who will be baptizing you and explain your difficulties. If neccesary, just write him a note.

Jesus didn't have to give an interview. Nor is there mention of needing an interview in the Bible. But even still, just trust in the Lord and His Spirit will speak through you. There is no need to worry.

My Pastor and I discussed it to make sure I was ready and to know the commitment I was making. Besides that I didn't say anything while getting baptized besides praying.

The only thing you have to do is to truly believe that Jesus is the savior of the world as told in Bible and truly repent of your sins vowing never to do sins again.

It should be between you and God.

It sounds like they want to make sure that you are truly wanting to be saved.

If they want an interview all you have to do is tell them that you believe Jesus is the savior and you are sorry for all your sins and you do not want to do sins in the future. They do not need to know more than that, and that is all you have to do.

Jesus said you must be born of water and the Spirit. Some people will try to tell you that baptism is only for Church membership or to show your faith, but it is essential to salvation.

The Bible says that baptism does save us,but not the washing of the flesh, but a good conscience towards God.

We have to identify with Jesus who died, was buried, and rose again,by repenting of our sins, being baptized in water, and receiving the Holy Spirit.Jesus is our sacrifice that dies physically on the cross. We are a living sacrifice unto God.

We have to identify with Christ, but we are a living sacrifice unto God.
