THE TWO SERVANTS:
Mt.24::45-51 Who then is a FAITHFUL and WISE servant, whom his Lord hath made ruler over His household,to give them MEAT in due season?
Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when He cometh shall find so doing.
Verily I say unto you, that He shall make him ruler over all His goods.
But and if that evil servant shall say IN HIS HEART,My Lord,delayed His coming;
And shall begin to smite his FELLOW-SERVANTS,and to eat and drink with the drunken;
The Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looked NOT for Him,and in an hour that he is NOT AWARE of.
And shall cut him asunder, and APPOINT him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ( Like 12:41-48)

Warning to watch for His coming:

Luke21:34-36 And take heed to YOURSELVES,lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfieting, and drunkedness, and CARES OF THIS LIFE,and so that day come upon you unawares.
For as a snare shall it come upon ALL THEM THAT DWELL ON THE FACE OF THE WHOLE EARTH.
WATCH YE THEREFORE ,AND PRAY ALWAYS, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape ALL these things that shall come to pass,AND TO STAND BEFORE THE SON OF MAN.

Gal.2:4 And that because of false brethren UNAWARES brought in,who came in privily to spy out " our liberty" which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage.
Jude1:3-5 Beloved, when I have all diligence to write unto you of the common SALVATION,it was needful for me to write unto you,and EXHORT you that ye should EARNESTLY CONTEND for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
For there are certain men crept in UNAWARES,who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men,TURNING THE GRACE OF OUR GOD into lasciviousness, and DENYING the only LORD GOD,AND OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
I will therefore put you in rememberance, though ye once KNEW THIS,how that the Lord, having SAVED the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward DESTROYED THEM THAT BELIEVED NOT.

We must all be aware, that this walk must be faithful unto the end,for it is the enemies job to decieve us ,with the word of God ( twisted, skewed and out of context)if it were possible!

Although it is not necessarily a shameful thing, naivete can be extremely consequential. This pertains to misidentifying wolves among the sheep, charlatans and erroneous teachings. Wisdom and insight protects from these blind spots, and this is gained by studying the truth. Diligently and thoroughly study the truth and you will spot the forgery right away. i.e. no need to investigate the latest deceptions and new age philosophies to protect oneself, familiarize yourself with divine revelation (Bible), and you'll see the fallacies for what they are.

As far as remaining faithful and steadfast until his return, the truth will also protect you against the wiles of the devil as he attempts to steer you away, or makes claims that false Messiah's have arrived. Although the exact time of the second coming has not been divulged, the warnings leading up to it have been, again, within the Bible. Resist slothfulness, diversion and procrastination (wish I could), read the Word often.

Sorry IFH, i probably didn't add anything novel or profound here.

Good reasons to stay sober, when people are intoxicated, they are completely unaware of their actions and thus easily taken in.

I dont think its so much naivety as in sobriety. GOd does send angels to protect the innocent. Its good to be wise, but not everyone can be wise all the time. However everyone can choose to stay sober!

Lanolin, that sounds very naive, seriously, not everyone who is lead astray or deceived is a drinker, obviously! Some of whom we're referring to, including ourselves, have never touched a drink in their life, obviously! And secondly, as Paul warns, many have been lead astray, therefore, for whatever reason, guardians angels are not always present and deployed into action by God.

But yes, you're right, that indulging in sinful activities as a believer, is a recipe for falling away, and these activities include not only drinking but, lust, avarice, any sort of addictions, abuse, aggression, deceit, hatred, etc...
My point is, what protects you from succumbing to such decadence and debauchery, is understanding the depravity and insatiability of such behaviour. It is perceiving the shameful and degrading nature of these things, and understanding not only that God prohibits them, but why. This is wisdom and stability, i.e. one will not engage in an activity that they have nothing but contempt for (they see the wickedness behind it), no matter what the enticement is.

Wisdom is your best friend, and wisdom is gained by studying the word of God.

Ecclesiastes 7:11-19
7:11. Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing and benefits those who see the sun. 12. Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: that wisdom preserves the life of its possessor. 19. Wisdom makes one wise man more powerful than ten rulers in a city.
Proverbs 2:12
2:12. Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
Proverbs 4:5-7
4:5. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. 6. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. 7. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

My path with God IS MINE!
I have to be aware continually of what I HEAR, what I SEE, and especially WHAT I DO!

Just bc He tarries does not give us the right to abuse ,slander and malign others bc they don't agree with us!

Here on CC that seems to be the norm!

I wish everyone to go to heaven, but here there will be some that say" Lord,Lord did we not....."
It is a sad reality!
We MUST EXAMINE ourselves daily, this is not a " get out of jail" free card.

Walking with Him takes AWARENESS,FAITH,TRUST,LOVE,STUDY,PRAYER,AND PERSERVANCE!

BLESSINGS!

Haha but people actually choose to drink.
Its easy to taste if alcohol is in something cos it tastes foul! Besides, scripture references and warns against DRUNKENESS several times, not NAIVEITY.

It is very easy to see when someone is drunk, or drugged they are NOT in their right mind. Even a child can see this.

@Lanolin ! This thread is not about drunkenedness!
It's about being AWARE of what decietfulness is being shared as " so the word says"!
It's great to have an opinion!
Everyone does!

It would be so easy to just close our spiritual eyes and let others say .......it is so!

This is against the will of God
Jesus said SEEK,ASK,SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES and we are to study to show OURSELVES approved of God,a WORKMAN that needeth not be ashamed!

There will be NO finger pointing at the Judgement Seat of Christ!
You won't get to say well
"So and so told me...."

Every life in Christ Jesus is each its own!

Lanolin, your responses are very bizarre, ...am I to agree with you and simply state that 'as long as everyone stops drinking, then there will be no falling away within the Church'? I can barely utter the words!
I am not appreciating your fixation on drunkenness, ...you sound extremely naive, I am not trying to ridicule you.
The Bible does exhort against naivete, unawareness, lack of studying God's word, being misinformed, etc... They are all synonymous with naivete. It speaks about unsuspecting people being drawn away by wolves and parasites (paraphrasing), it speaks about those who only had a knowledge of John's baptism, about deceivers deceiving others and being deceived themselves. Naivete, contextually speaking, is synonymous with lack of wisdom, lack of perception and insight, lack of knowledge.

I didnt say it was about drunkeness! I was just saying about SOBRIETY which is the exact opposite! Being sober is being aware.

Being AWARE encompasses so much more!
It's the little foxes that spoil the vine. Song of Solomon2:15
Mark 3:27 No man can enter into a STRONG man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first BIND the strong man;and then he will spoil his house.

We must be aware of the decietfulness of those who tout false doctrine!

1Peter 5:8 Be sober, (taking conscious thought) be vigilant; ( AWARE AND ALERT) because YOUR ADVERSARY the devil,as a roaring lion,WALKETH ABOUT (through fellow man most often) seeking whom he may devour. Ep.6:18

Live your life, trust in God, learn more and more how to stay quiet so that the Holy Spirit can speak in and through you and lead you on the path of righteousness, and don't fear what is outside of your control.
God is love. Be ready because you have been readied.
It's all good because it is all God.

People chose to smoke too and other harmful things as well. Actually, I like the taste of alcohol but chose to abstain since 1992. I believe that in Proverbs you will find ample verses pertaining to naivety, that is why many verses stress to seek wisdom.
