A lot of poor people aspire to become rich. In the process of becoming rich and gaining wealth, are you more prone to do evil things? If yes, does it mean you should try to avoid to be a very rich man? what are your opinions?

yes me too. I wish I am. But then why rich and popular people tends to do suicide and use drugs? Is it because they have so much money that they can afford drugs? they can afford prostitutes, they can afford to do party all night. and why rich people tends to oppress poor people just to get what they wanted, and they always get what they wanted because they are rich, they can even twist justice with their money.

All people, rich or poor sin. There's an abundance of sin to be done when you're poor and there's plenty to do when you're rich. It makes no difference.

Good question.... Money changes people. I think it is important to be content (money wise) in whatever position you are in rich or poor. Jealousy is a curse that perhaps some poor people that make it rich carry with them?? maybe

No. Paul says sin shall not have dominion over you. A believer can stop sinning by the power of Jesus so as to glorify Him. For we are to walk as He walked.

I dunno about sin - but people from lower socioeconomic situations commit more crime. Not the same thing I know.

There's truth to what you say. Being rich has been very hard on me.

1 Timothy 6:3-9 ESV
3If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound[SUP]b[/SUP] words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 5and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. 6But godliness with contentment is great gain, 7for we brought nothing into the world, and[SUP]c[/SUP] we cannot take anything out of the world. 8But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 9But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Matthew 6:19-21 ESV
19Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[SUP]e[/SUP] destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

It's not about the money itself it's about that persons heart. money is just paper and coins it can do nothing on its own its like saying guns kill but you put a gun on the table by its self will it start killing?

Many political leaders commit more crime in one day than most poor people do in a lifetime.

Jason, have you actually stopped sinning? Are you now walking perfectly as Jesus walked? Was it easy to get to that point?

I'm with you on one thing - sin does not have dominion over me - even when I fall short. Grace has dominion.

Yeah, Cain managed to kill quite effectively with just a rock he picked up in the field. (Probably left his pistol at home.)

Do drugs have dominion over you if you can't stop doing drugs? Why do think it is any different with sin? Read Romans 6 again. Paul says .... "God forbid" as to the answer to the question, "Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound?" At the end of that chapter Paul makes the point that you yield yourself to whom you obey. For one is either...

1. A Slave to sin (or)
2. A Slave to Righteousness.

Have I stopped sinning?

I don't abide in unrepentant sin that leads unto death. There are days I do not sin. But I believe I will be a slave to righteousness soon because I believe God and His Word (See 1 Peter 4:1 and Galatians 5:24).

I never could understand why people do evil things for money.
The most beautiful things in life are free to view anyhow..

James 1:17

As for being rich: One hoards that which they love. If one's house is filled with comic books it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that they love comic books. For Jesus said, where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.

You know, I always though I would be really good at being rich, but the Lord never allowed me to try.
With God being all wisdom, I respect His judgement and thank Him.

In other words, if one does not love their riches, then why do they possess such riches? Is it because they hate the riches they have? No. Of course not.

I'm talking about the potential to sin. We are not talking about the christian walk here are we?
