Today's passage comes from Mark 10:2-12

2 The Pharisees came and asked Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” testing Him.
3 And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?”
4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her.
5 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6 But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female. 7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
10 In the house His disciples also asked Him again about the same matter. 11 So He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. 12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

Today's passage is very dear to my heart, which may seem ironic since I am not married. However, it has influenced my life and the decisions i make quite a bit. It is so sad that half of the marriages in this country end in divorce. Marriage is such a beautiful thing, when a man and a women can share their lives together, love each other, take care of one another, make sacrifices for each other, and grow spiritually together. Marriage is a gift from God, a Holy union. If I am so blessed as to receive a wife, thanks be to God for such a wonderful gift; a person to cherish, honor, love, and keep as long as I live.

May the Lord bless and preserve all the marriages that are formed on this Holy Day of our Lord. Amen.

As far as this passage I think it should be hung on the walls of every home. When you consider Jesus stating two people becoming one flesh, well that is very powerful and puts into perspective how each husband and wife treats each other (they are doing it to them-self, whether love or hate, they are doing it to their own life).
Excellent Observation Merry

I was very blessed to have the mom that I did. My father divorced her , which was a blessing to all of us due to his abuse. At that time divorce was rare and it made my mothers life very hard. She was left alone to raise all of us, a large family. Even though in the eyes of many she was free to remarry she chose to honor her vows till the day she passed away. Because of her example all of my siblings and myself have held the vows of marraige as valued and blessed by God. I have the reminates of her wedding ring, worn to a small thread and tattered. But to me it is more precious than any amout of gold, as it represents her obediance and commitment to her marriage and Our Lord Jesus. She trully glorified God by her faith. Godbless, pickles
