Jesus went to the cross so that we could be reconciled to God by the forgiveness of sins through the atonement His atonement. A ministry of reconciliation would be (my opinion) one of a peacemaker. There are people in the Body of Christ who are gifted with the ability to bring angry members of the body to reconciliation with each other.
A tough but very rewarding ministry.

Blessed are the peacemakers!

In Christ,
John

The gospel is the reconciliation. By the blood of Jesus Christ we are reconciled to God.

I think the term probably comes from 2 Corinthians 5, which explains it in much the same terms as you've read above:

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them.
Our sins aren't counted against us.

Bingo! Thank You!! Now on my Post of "Reborn Christain" is this not the same thing thier trying to explain it means to be reborn,

When we acept Jesus we become a New Creation, "We become a Christain" The old is Gone.

When we Die of the Flesh as a Christain, We become a ReBorn Christain.

Hope This Helps

When the Holy Spirit regenerates us (titus 3:5) we are a new creation thus 'born again' its then we die to the flesh.

Isn't great, that God has allowed us to become His children and made us a 'new creation' praise His glorious name.

God Bless

Amen Phil, God is Great, How Blessed we are to be able to be a Christain and recieve Salvation!!
and turn from wickness of the flesh.

This topic of being a Born again Christain to me is about seeing the kingdom!! Entering the Kingdom!!!
Jesus says Flesh and Blood can not enter.
Ye must be reborn
Becomeing a Christain, recieveing the Holy Spirit, is a change from the old to new, "not thus reborn"
isnt reborn to mean do it again??

So if I just acepted Christ, I'm not reborn, because I wasnt a Christain till I acepted him first time.

So thus as a Christain, I am a new Creation, "A Christain"

As a Christain, when I die of my Flesh, I become a Re-Born Christain.

Ye must be Re-born to enter the Kingdom!!!

Hope this Helps

It's nowadays more commonly called "confession" found mainly in liturgical churches (Catholics, Orthodox, Anglicans, etc).

I am sorry about my original post. I was tired when I read it and did not give it proper thought. Although there is a "ministry of reconciliation that God uses people for; in this instance I believe and agree with the other posts that it is speaking of the reconciliation of man to God. Man was lost without Christ because He had no way of coming into a right standing with God. It took the perfect atonemet of Christ to bring that about.

In Christ,
John

God created us for Himself, to spend time with us in fellowship, to share His life and love and joy with. The way was pure in the garden with Adam and Eve, until the fall. Because of the knowledge of good and evil, which made them like God, fellowship was broken, and the purpose of God creating man was frustrated. Now some still walked with God, Enoch and Noah just to name a few. But the greatest part of mankind would not draw near to God, because of the fear of death. (Our God is a consuming fire.)

Jesus came to bring about the perfect reconciliation. In Himself, by the death of His flesh, He removed the barrier which separated us from our God. This barrier was our death due to sin in us, and the knowledge of good and evil. In Christ Jesus, we become innocent again, able to fellowship with our Father. And it takes innocence for this to happen, we must become innocent of all things, washed in His blood, cleansed in pure water, cleansed from all unrighteousness in Him.

And when we draw near to God through Jesus, we are actually experiencing grace, saving grace. Just as Enoch and Noah were saved because of their fellowship with God, so to are we saved in the same way. This is the gospel, and the ministry of reconciliation.

In His love,
vic

In on sense the "Ministry of Rconciliation" is the entire ministry of the gospel. In another sense it is the ministry of getting beleivers and nonbelievers alike to accept the reconciliation and to walk in it. In recent years it has been used specifically to refer to those who are in the ministry of bringing together people who have disputes or hard feelings dividing them.

I think that it is the entire basis of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the foundation and the reason for Jesus coming into the world. And if we find the truth that God loves us, and through drawing near to Him become changed to be more like Him, Jesus will be seen in the world just as the Father intends. For we do see Him, only as in a mirror darkly, but as we behold Him, we are changed into His image, from glory to glory.

When I was convicted of my vacuous life as a bible believing christian, and shown the true cost to Jesus, and to the Father that was paid in His love for me, I understood that I had been reconciled to Him, that I was truly His enemy in every way, that He would save me from my complete downfall by bringing me into His family, His heavenly family, by first giving me birth of and from Him, sonship into His family; and then He opened my eyes to see that He had made the way into His holy presence open, and that I should, no, that I must spend time with Him, in the holy place, else the whole thing was to no gain.

God truly does love us and want us to be with Him through eternity. But those who will be with Him in eternity, those who will be before Him and serve Him forever, who will look upon His face and have His name written upon their foreheads, are those whom He knows, because they have spent time, precious and irreplaceable time in this life, with Him.

Lest someone read the above and think that I do not believe the bible, let me just say, that now that I know the author of the scripture, I believe the scripture now in a way that was impossible before I came to know Him.

Reconciliation means that we are brought to God spiritually, when we were separated from God spiritually.

The Jews were never reconciled to God spiritually, but had physical ordinances to keep them right before God until Jesus came.

We are reconciled to God by Jesus Christ, and the Bible says our mediator is the man Christ Jesus.
We are brought to God by the sinless man Christ Jesus, for only a sinless man can approach a holy God on man's behalf.

Our Saviour is the man Christ Jesus. No man is sinless,so God manifest Himself in flesh, and reconciled us back to Himself in the person of Jesus Christ, fully God and man in harmony, and all who have the Spirit are in harmony with God as the man Christ Jesus is in harmony with God.

18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation(2 Corinthians 5:18-19).

Through the gospel mankind, who are currently enemies of God, can be reconciled to Him. By this means mankind can be reconciled into one body, ie, Jew and Gentile together in the church.

The ministry of reconciliation is Christ restoring the world to God through us. We as a body share in His ministry - Christ working through us, just as powerfully(and even more) as when he worked on earth himself reconciling the world to God. God and fallen men are seperated, we get to partake in reuniting them, Praise Jesus. Could be as simple as having compassion (from God) on someone and telling them He loves them, and why, mending hearts, helping people to see themselves the way God sees them, turning their hearts back to Him. ;)
