In Catholic teaching condom use is a sin because it denies the possibility of life and therefore is an attempt by the individual to interfere with God's will. I'm interested to see some of the responses here since there are no Bible verses that address condom use.

12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. (1 Corinthians 6:12)

8 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' " (Matthew 15:8-9)

22 Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin. (Romans 14:22-23)

8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. (Colossians 2:8)

15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. (Titus 1:15)

17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. (1 Timothy 6:17)

23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. (1 Corinthians 10:23)

But they prevent a life that may have been God's abortion destroys a life that God willed, they both interfere with the will of God. If a couple does not want to have any more children they can choose to have sex during a womans natural periods of infertility each month. But even that should not be done indefinitely, because God will not give us anymore children then we can bear, and he will provide a way for us to care for each child he gives us. My great grandmother had 13 kids and they all turned out just fine.

I personally think that if condoms were wrong in the eye's of God, they would have been addressed. Unlike most things that aren't mentioned in the Bible, condoms actually DID exist during that time frame, at least during the time of Jesus. Condom use was popular as far back as before the Peloponnesian (sp?) War. I think something that old would have been addressed directly in Romans, at least.

Just because it says Trojan on it, doesn't mean the Trojans made it.

The vast majority of cultures at the time didn't know of latex. I would be surprised if one did.

They didn't use latex obviously... Ancient condoms were made of animal skins/leather. and yes, the Trojans did have them. along with the Spartans and Athenians (they actually stopped making condoms for a while during that war so they could use the leather for battle purposes.)

I simply wanted to say that if God Our Father wants to bring a child, he will.:)
I know many that have used many kinds of birth controll, even both husband and wife having surgury to prevent children.
Surprise, God Our Father still blessed them.
Of course if one waits for marraige, there should be no concern of disease.
But some still can transmit if they work in a high risk area, had surgury with a blood transfusion, or like some I know, have had exposure due to their work place.
Condoms are not just for birth controll, they also prevent disease, and protect ones loved ones.

It is a decision that needs to made in ones heart.

God bless.
I'm not sure if every baby born is because of the will of God? I think more the will of man. Teenagers are having sex, prostitutes get pregnant, girls get raped, unmarried women having kids without partners, the list goes on. It's not just married couples anymore. Lots of unwanted children here caused from fornication & sin. What kind of an upbringing are these kids going to have? Especially if Mummy's had 4 different children to four different men. It's all chaos.

I was once a single mother too and I know how hard was, not just for me but for my child. She would ask "Are you my daddy to men in the shopping isle" very sad.

I do know one thing though, and that God breathes their first breath of life into them when they are born. He decides if this newborn will live or die. He gives the final ok when they come into this world.

Regarding condoms, married, single, whatever, go for it. Stock up. If you are going to have sex no matter what then think of the consequenses for that child. I think the world is populated enough now.

I am however, against abortion. Once the egg is fertilised, there is a baby there. It has a heartbeat now. Wear it.

I would say it is a sin to bring a baby into this world that was not wanted, or one that would not therefore be brought up in a loving, secure home with two parents.

I would imagine that that would grieve God more than the use of a condom being used to avoid a child being brought into this world who would in all probability not be brought up in a loving, seciure home by two committed parents

I think God because he is a God of love, mercy and compassion would see it from the point of view of the baby being brought into this world and the consequences that may well follow for the infant, not theology that did not bear any thought to this

I firstly I don't think the way you phrased the question was wrong it can be either way.

Use of condoms to foster fornication between unmarried folk is wrong.

Use of condoms to prevent having to open a kindergarten/nursery school to accommodate all your children: I don't think that is wrong. Otherwise, it will beg the question is it wrong for a happily married couple to enjoy the pleasures of sex.If we want to put laws there we might as well encourage fornication. Personally, I would like to fill the world/ be with many arrows for my quiver if you know what I mean but as journey41 rightfully says there is already too much imbalance, too many innocent children suffering a world out of control. I however don't support those guys of considerable means who get one child and say their world is full. It is somehow selfish and why expose yourself to the risk of being heir-less to that extent. Kama uko na uwezo pata hata watatu i.e. swahili for "If you can get even three",

I like the idea that use of condoms is like masturbating with another person it is hilarious (crazyguy).

So finally brethren whatever things are true, just, noble, pure, lovely, of good report, if there is any virtue, anything praise worthy meditate on these.. Phil 4:8-9 meditate on God's word till it fills your heart, Jesus will give you the answer to anything through the holy spirit.

I am still single and have not yet wondered off to the ways that must be for the married only (not that I boast of it, it is by God's grace). I don't know what I will do about condom use when I'm married but where I stand it is a definite NO to condom use so help me GOD!

Amen.

The way I take it is that yes the use of condoms would be wrong outside of marriage because obviously you would be having sex outside of marriage. But inside the context of marriage, go right ahead. God not only created sex to create people in the world, but as an intimate thing for a husband and wife to share. It was meant for them to be able to pleasure each other. So it is okay to pleasure your husband or wife without having a child every time. Part of a healthy marriage is having sex.
