Luke 4
1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
4 But Jesus answered him, saying,“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”
5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
8 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here.
10 For it is written:
‘ He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you,’

11 and,
‘ In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”

12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’”
13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time

Now.. The first Scripture that comes to is...
Proverbs 28:1The wicked flee when no one pursues,But the righteous are bold as a lion.

Satan was tempting Jesus. The only reason Satan left was because Jesus didn't give into the temptation.. He was not even rebuked.. He flee'd while Jesus, being the Lion of Judah stood bold on the Word.

The reason I posted this is because Satan quoted Scripture here.
Satan quoted Psalm 91:11-12 which says..
Psalm 91
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Now Jesus did not reject this Scripture. Or even say, "look at the context, dude!". What Jesus did was correct Satan's interpretation of that Scripture with Scripture..

See.. The Scripture is never wrong.. But sometimes our interpretation of it is.
Jesus had to say look, you are interpreting that Scripture as; Jump off as many cliffs and mountains you want, because this Scripture says God will send His angels to protect you when you fall.

Now.. Even though that is all true.. You have to keep in mind the rest of the Bible.
So Jesus goes over to Deuteronomy 6 and quotes...
Deuteronomy 6
16 "You shall not tempt the LORD your God..."

Even though Satan was correct in quoting that verse, his interpretation was way off.

If our interpretation of Scripture goes against another Scripture.. Than it's our interpretation which is wrong, not God's Word.

Luke 10
25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”

"What does the Bible say, and what is your interpretation of it?"

So.. I guess the point is.. We can't have Scripture contradicting our doctrines otherwise it's not the Scripture that is wrong.. It is our doctrines.

How do we get the correct interpretation and sound-doctrines? Well... By the BIBLE alone..
Rom 3:4 "let God be true but every man a liar."

2 Timothy 2:5
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 3
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

A reason why the Word is defined also as a sword that is sharpened on both sides. You can use Scripture in many ways, evil uses it against us to propagandize false teachings.

I think over all I may agree with this post except these two thoughts , for Jesus did rebuke satan by correcting the statement that satan had said, and on the last temptation the scriptures says that He said "satan get thee hence", this means satan get out of here, or leave my sight, and satan departed
