And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. ~ Luke 19:37-39

Have you thought about that these very people who where praising the Lord Jesus Christ this day were the same people in the days to come were saying, “Crucify Him!, Crucify Him!, Crucify Him!”

Sad but true. What do you say?

Scripture doesn't tell us that any particular people who shouted, "Hosanna!" were among those who shouted, "Crucify!" It's sermon fodder, not exegesis.

That said, we do well to be consistent in our lives, and to correct our own behaviour when we find self-contradiction and hypocrisy.

Please note that it was the whole multitude of the disciples of Christ. That is confirmed below in verse 39 : And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

However, these disciples may have become fearful against the religious leaders and Pharisees, who had incited a mob of those who were not disciples to clamor for the crucifixion of Christ. Add to that the fact the demons were also inciting the fury and frenzy of the mob, since Jesus said that this was the time for the "power of darkness" to manifest itself.

“Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:” Acts 2:23 (KJV 1900)

“I tell you,” he (Jesus) replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

But this is saying the whole multitude of disciples were praising Jesus for they were on His side, and does not prove that some of them went against Him.

Jesus came unto His own but His own did not receive Him, so the majority of the Jews went against Jesus.

But not everybody went against Jesus which is more than the 11 disciples.

We do not know for sure who would of went against Jesus when the multitude of disciples were praising Jesus, if any of them went against Him.

It does not say the whole multitude of Israel were praising Him but the whole multitude of disciples were praising Him.

And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him, and could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him. There was a popular wave of enthusiasm in his favor; but, alas! it soon ebbed away, and then the multitudes that had cried, “Hosanna!” were just as loud in their shouts of “Crucify him! Crucify him!”

From: Spurgeon's Verse Expositions of the Bible (Charles Spurgeon)

Seems Spurgeon thought that some of the same ones that cried Hosanna also cried Crucify him.

My thoughts are, not all people that say they are Christians are, they are fakes and plants of Satan. So beware.

To fakes it is all about them, to real Christians, it is all about Jesus.

Plow on, plow on......
