Are the epistles of Paul the best and final message for the church today?

Are the epistles of Peter the best and final message for the church today?

Are the words of Jesus above the writings of Peter and Paul?

Or, are the writings of Peter, Paul, and Jesus to be treated equally - that is all apply to the church today?

I voted for the first one. I believe that all scripture needs to be taken in the context it was given. I believe that all scripture - even the words of Jesus need to be viewed through the finished work of Christ. There is no conflict with Peter, James, John, Paul nor the Lord Jesus's words when viewed through Christ alone.

What happens is the "application" of Jesus' words is where the problems can lie. There were things that Jesus said because He said it to the Jews specifically for them. Can we learn from that? Of course. He also said things that were for His time too before He died and rose again and the truth that we too died with Him and rose with Him.

Jesus was the greatest Law teacher and also the greatest grace teacher.

To some His words brought life - to others His words of life it revealed their death.

To the self-righteous Pharisee Jesus gave the Law of Moses on steroids to show that they needed a Savior and thus He exposed their sin.

To others that knew they needed Him because they in fact were sinners - to them He revealed His grace.

There is no conflict whatsoever between the different writers. They had different purposes and different revelations and they all grew progressively in the understanding of the gospel but all point to Christ Himself - no matter what level of understanding they had. The gospel is the good news of Christ Himself. He is the gospel!

I do not believe the epistles of Paul are the best and final message for the church today. Jesus Christ was our Lord and Savior. If you are looking for a best and final message, look to his teachings in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Nor do I believe Peter's teachings to be the best and final teachings of the church, for the same reason I gave above.

If you find a conflict between the teachings of Jesus and one of the epistle writers, remember that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.

They both preached the same message. Paul preached to the Gentiles, Peter preached to the Jews.

There is never a conflict between Paul and Jesus - the problem is how people "apply" and "interpret" what is being said by each one.

How could Paul's gospel [good news] be any different than Jesus gospel when: But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ . . . Paul received his revelation from Jesus Christ?
