Dishpansationalism caused by mishandling the Word.
Dispensationalism claims that Christ came to establish the kingdom, but because of Jewish unbelief it became impossible to establish the kingdom.
So Christ postponed the kingdom and established the church instead. The church according millennialism, is a direct consequence of the failure of Israel to enter into the promises.
The church it is claimed was never predicted by the Old Testament prophets.
John F. Walvoord wrote: "The present age (of the gathering of the church by the blood and Spirit of Jesus Christ) is a parenthesis or a time period not predicted by the Old Testament and therefore not fulfilling or advancing the program of events revealed in the Old Testament fore view."
Tommy Ice and Tim LaHaye also claim - “The church was an unforeseen mystery in the Old Testament.”
Ol' Dwight Pentecost states “The concept must stand that this whole age (church age - added by meself) with its program was not revealed in the Old Testament, but constitutes a new program and a new line of revelation in this present age.... It has been illustrated how this whole age existed in the mind of God without having been revealed in the Old Testament.”
Oh really O'Riley?
The problem for the millennial view is the New Testament writers tell us that what they were writing about and experiencing was directly from and based on the Old Covenant promises made to Israel. Paul states that his proclamation of the mystery of God, Jew and Gentile equality in the church, the body of Christ is straight from the Old Testament prophets.
(Rom 16:25 KJV) Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
(Rom 16:26 KJV) But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
according to the revelation of the mystery - by the scriptures of the prophets
So if this mystery of God - Jew and Gentile equality in the church, was not foretold by the Old Testament prophets as claimed by dispensationalists, how is it possible that Paul could preach this mystery of God using the Old Testament prophets?
The dishpanhand people must have missed the above while developing their "theologies."
(Acts 2:14 KJV) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
(Acts 2:15 KJV) For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
(Acts 2:16 KJV) But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
When Peter stood up on Pentecost and proclaimed the gospel to the Jews on that day he did so knowing full well that what was being proclaimed was according the the Old Covenant prophets. Which was the establishing of the church which was to include the remnant of Israel (including the ten tribes in the diaspora) and the Gentiles in fulfillment of the promises to Israel not something that would take 1980+ years to come about.
There were "thousands" of Jews who received the old covenant promises:
(Acts 21:20 KJV) ......Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe......
