the whole concept of Dispensationalism began in eschatology, with the pre-tribulation rapture being the backbone of the doctrine, but Darby wasn't the creator of it. Edward Irving was the man who came up with the concept of it... Darby was just well versed enough is advertising it know how to properly sell it.
but yeah, nothing more than a man-made fantasy.
