Goingreading the Bible/ talking to God and Jesus Everyday I don't goto Chruch or the Bible study for atleast 25 min day. Going to the Chruches and the Bible Study like I have been going to. Talking to God when I'm walking/running on the tradmill. Talking to God during work. to the Chruches(one wensday and one thursday) and the Bible Study like I have been going to. Talking to God when I'm walking/running on the tradmill. Talking to God during work.

I'm just wondering since one of my friends doesn't think I'll be growing if I'm doing that...

I have a simlilar routine...seem to be growing greatly anyways! but be kind to your friend, at least they want you growing in Christ! pray about it and ask God to show you anything you should be doing that you arnt doing...and perhaps pray for healing in your friendship and for Gods love to stand in between you and your friend! on both sides more....go have coffee together and pray and talk about God! I dont think time is as important as hear felt devotion!

Yeah, he's a lot stronger than me. I just think he's forgotten what it's like to be at my level. I mean, I not at the point yet where I spent a couple hours on the Bible a day and enjoy like he can yet. But yeah, I did talk to him in a nice way when I told him that. I mean he is one of my better friends. I wouldn't want to loose him as one.

Instead of listening to your friend on how to grow spiritually, why dont you pray about it.

I really dont think you need a formula to get closer to God. You can spend hours reading the Bible and never get closer to Him unless your hearts in the right place. And what kind of friend would dump you for not having the same spiritual life as him? Its not a contest.
Also if you think you're doing well thats all that matters.

you are so right...our walk with God is very personal , we have an individual relationship with Him, like any good parent and child...it will probably be different than your brothers or sisters so we cant compare the two.

It all depends as someelse has stated Why are you doing it. We can study scripture for various reasons and , to read the Bible just so we can say hey look at me I have read the entire Bible, or because someone said we should read atleast an hour a day so we read it an Hour so that we can say ok we are searching for God. We may not get much out of it.

Pr 2:1. My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2. So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3. Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4. If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5. Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Yeah, I know I told my friend that. Which is kinda weird since he should know that better than I would. My friend isn't dumping me. As for how I'm doing, I want to a little bit closer of level with God to where my friends are.

I think you're still worrying too much, especially about what others think of you. Chillax, man. You'll mature with time. There's no magical formula to growing in your faith, and it's possible to get so caught up in trying to 'grow' that you forget to take care of yourself and those around you.

Amen! God isn't telling us to read His word because we just want to say we're reading it, or to say I've read the whole Bible, or a certain amount of it. He wants us to read it because we hunger and thirst for Him and His word. He is the living water, and the bread of life. Our daily fill comes from His word. Sometimes, God gives us only so much to read, maybe even a single verse, and wants us to meditate upon it or them. We learn so much from that. It's not how much you read, but what you read, and what the Lord gives you from it, and what you learn from it. Seek and ye shall find, ask and it shall be given unto you, knock, and the door shall be opened.

Note: SHALL, not maybe, not might, not in time, etc. but SHALL!

We should have a desire, a burning passion, a thirst, and a hunger in us, that can't be taken care of unless, and by any other means than us obeying God....by reading His word, praying, a prayer of humility and reverence for Him. Seeking Him, whole heartedly, and surrendering to Him. Putting all else aside!

Oh yeah, I meant to also say we're told in 2 Timothy 1:7 ''For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.'' Then 1 Corinthians 14:33 says ''For God is not he author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saings.''
