there's no evidence that adam died spiritually and was born again, scripture says nothing of it. Unless it's in some apocryphal writing I haven't read. Rather, 1 Pe 3:19 suggests spirits were in prison since the old testament:
1Pe 3:19 in which also He went and preached to the spirits in prison,
1Pe 3:20 to disobeying ones, when once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared (in which a few, that is, eight souls were saved through water);
proving a) that old testament disobedient i.e. sinners, had spirits, and b).. greatkraw is wrong.
Further proof that old testament sinners have spirits:
Job 15:13 that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
So basically everyone had a human spirit , and the spirit is not something they get after being born again and everyone else only has souls, that idea is foreign to the old testament.
