I know there are different views on drinking, what is your view? It is okay to drink once you are 21? Please back with Scripture....

Paul taught that we must obey the laws of the land. This means that it is illegal for those under age to drink. This also restricts what one can do while drinking (ie, drive a car, etc.).

Alcohol has no nutritional value and is in fact an intoxicant (meaning... a toxin within)... a poison. There are many warnings against it in the Bible, esp. strong drink. There appears to be a legitimate medicinal use for some.

For those who choose to exercise their freedom to imbibe, they must consider their fellow believers so as not to be a stumbling block.

the best scriptures that help me was

1ti 3:1This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.1ti 3:2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;1ti 3:3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

Note here that a Bishop/Pastor is not given to wine, however:

1ti 3:8Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

a deacon can have a little wine Now many would try to say that this is speaking of juice not wine but if this were true then how could a Pastor ever part of the Lord's supper, If he couldn't take part of juice. however on the other hand If A pastor allows his Church to use fermented wine at the Lord's supper then He is sinning if he partakes, and has just disqualified himself as a Bishop/pastor

then there is always

Pr 31:6Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.Pr 31:7Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

I let ytou do with this what you want

Concerning elders and deacons... not being GIVEN to wine speaks to habit and potential addiction. This is obviously speaking of alcohol for God is not putting Nazirite restrictions on these men of not eating or drinking anything from the grape. Such would restrict them from communion.

I don't think anyone sees Jesus as getting wasted...

So, if you drink to the point that God tells you to go no further and you keep drinking--that is sin indeed...

As well as if you drink instead of praying over something or for someone, or out of debachuary...

I honestly don't drink, for the simple reason that I would rather pray; and I don't see anything "holy" about drinking..and I think its pretty clear that Christians are to seek holiness, and if its not holy we are not to drink.

However, at my brothers birthday, and for communion sometimes (depending on the type of church) I did drink...but there was a clear line where I was told spiritually "no further"...

I have known quite a few people who spiritually get lost by drinking and very few to none that spiritually become more holy through it. It seems to just cause people to become more and more spiritually vague...

Someone also told me that there is a reason "alcohol is also called 'spirits'."

Peace to you

What if Jesus drinks wine in heaven.
math26,27
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Since it's so difficult to determine what God's word says about alcohol, I'll just share my gut feelings (spiritual gut :)).

The bible says not to be drunk with wine. If it takes you 3 drinks to get drunk then 1 drink makes you 1/3 drunk.

If you buy just one drink you are still throwing your support behind the alcohol industry. Perhaps it's not a sin but it is definitely not expedient for you.

That's just my 2 cents worth

29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? 30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. 31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. 32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. 33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. 34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. 35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again. Prov 23:29-35 (KJV)

the way i see it ias jesus never drank, yes he turned water into wine but did he drink it?
yes he he said "take drink this is my blood" but did he drink it?
i dont ever see jesus drinking, do you?
and also from the translation of the hebrew there was 2 meanings for 1 word the two meanings were Alcoholic drink (strong drink) and grape juice (wine)
this is fact that the hebrew word for both is the same and jesus turned water to what wine? thats grape juice and what did he give his deciples wine? thats grape juice.

You're correct, wine is a generic term for that which is made from grapes, e.g. fruit of the vine. Strong drink came from grain.

I do not beleive drinking alchohol is right at all but I do know in the Bible it says you should drink a little wine for your health. A little bit of red wine isn't bad for you but if you over induluge yourself and get drunk then you have fallen into sin

Proverbs 31 allows it as a pain killer when one is at the point of death. The beverage use of it is un-Biblical. The medicinal use is allowed however.

math 11,18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

1st peter 4,3
For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, Excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

You will notice he did not say wine here but; Excess of wine.If wine was bad ,he would have said Wine

Excess =
  1. The state of exceeding what is normal or sufficient: rains that filled the reservoirs to excess.
  2. An amount or quantity beyond what is normal or sufficient; a surplus.
  3. The amount or degree by which one quantity exceeds another: Profit is the excess of sales over costs.
  4. Intemperance; overindulgence: drank to excess.
  5. A behavior or an action that exceeds proper or lawful bounds: tried to avoid engaging in emotional excesses such as hysteria and fits of temper.
Brother Thaddaeus clearly specified the exceptions. It is clear men of high office should not drink.

Thaddaeus,Not given to wine.I reasearched this;http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/given+to?jss=1 Also Given to=To hold toward, greek=prosecho this is interesting; http://www.searchgodsword.org/lex/grk/view.cgi?number=4337&l=en

In my opinion, a little alcohol will not hurt you. For example; a glass of wine with you dinner occasionally. I don't think you should go to a bar just to have a beer. I personally don't drink, but I see nothing wrong with it within reason.
