If anyone is interested, let's talk about the Feasts of the Lord, both Spring and Fall. Whatever is relevant I'd love to know more about all aspects including the meaning of the original words. The way they were traditionally kept would add to understanding I think. I just feel there is so much we miss about the feasts, being both a foreshadow of Christ at first, and second coming, and also as the way God gave for celebrations.

Was reading somewhere tonight about the scripture Jesus said, "no man knows.." referring to His coming back, and also how that scripture relates to one of the fall feasts because of the new moon and not knowing until you look in the sky. Forgot where I read that, so will post when I find it. Thanks.
[h=3]Ezekiel 33:6[/h]King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]6 [/SUP]But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

If you will please excuse me for a copy and paste, I found an article by Tom Bradford that is done much better than I can:

"Briefly, each Biblical feast is significant and prophetic as follows: 1) Pesach, The Feast of Passover, speaks of redemption…..that the Messiah, our Passover Lamb, was slain for us and his blood atones for our sins. 2) Matza, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, is about sanctification. The ordinance against the use of leavening is Biblically symbolic of a) absence of sin, and b) absence of decay and corruption. Christ’s sinless body was put into the tomb and it did NOT decay. 3) Bikkurim, the Feast of Firstfruits, speaks of firstlings……the first of things which always belongs to God. In the work of Messiah, it is about resurrection; Messiah is called the firstfruits of the resurrection from the dead; Yeshua was the first man to be resurrected from the dead….but, far into the future, other men….you and me….will also be resurrected. These are the 3 Spring Feasts.

Next, we have a Summer Feast: Shavuot, called The Feast of Weeks. We know this one better as Pentecost. Shavuot was timed to occur exactly 50 days from Bikkurim, the Feast of Firstfruits. The Greeks gave this Holy Day the name “Pentecost” meaning 50. This is the awesome day that the Holy Spirit came to indwell men. And, by the way, just so we’re clear: a holy day was NOT created by Christians to celebrate the New Testament happening of the coming of the Holy Spirit; rather, the Holy Spirit CAME on the long established (over 1300 years established), day of Pentecost, Bikkurim. And, in fact, we’ll find that Jesus died on Pesach, went into the tomb on Matza, arose on Bikkurim, and the Holy Spirit descended on men on Shavuot. Now, that is 4 very interesting “coincidences”, are they not?
Well, naturally, I say “coincidences” tongue-in-cheek…."

Here is a recap of some of what Tom has to say about the last three feasts. He feels because the dates of the first four feasts accurately told of the day in the year they happened, just not the year, it set a pattern of predicting the day of the prophecy. We are told we do not know the date of the last days, but Tom feels we can know the season.

The first Fall feast is Rosh Hashanah….what is usually called Jewish New Year. Together with the next Feast we’ll discuss, Yom Kippur, these two Feasts and the intervening days are called the High Holy Days, and also known as the Days of Awe by the Jews. These feasts are in the fall of the year, and the computer will give the exact date each year that varies as it is determined by the lunar calendar.

"Rosh Hashanah, by tradition, is the day God sits in Judgment on the Universe. This is NOT an eternal judgment, but rather it is when He hands out merits for those who have been obedient and discipline on those who have not; it applies to individuals and to nations." God decides on Rosh Hosanna who will be blessed in the following year, and who will be cursed. Does one have plenty, or famine? Rosh Hashanah, more than any other day, exemplifies Yahweh’s judging attribute. So, while there is celebration, there is soberness of mind and heart. Today, preparation for Rosh Hashanah usually begins by a week of prayer BEFORE, asking for forgiveness of sins.

Rosh Hashanah is the Biblical Feast that tells of the return of Christ, and the beginning of judgment by God. A day of both literal AND spiritual darkness for most, a day of wonder and awe for those who trust Him.

10 days following Rosh Hashanah is THE holiest day of the year: Yom Kippur, which means “Day of Atonement”. This is a day for prayers of confession and repentance. Prophetically, Yom Kippur symbolizes the day all Israel will be saved, all Israel in the sense of all people who love the Lord and know Christ is part of Israel.

Then, 5 days later begins The Feast of Tabernacles. This feast last seven days. It relates to the 40 years that the Jews wandered in the wilderness, living in temporary housing, on their miraculous passage our of Egypt. This is a time of rejoicing, for the final agricultural harvest is in. It prophecies the final harvest of all the world to the true paths of God, a time when all the nations will come up to Jerusalem to worship the Eternal God.

Here is another copy and paste from a local church of ours about the feasts:
These beautiful festivals are an essential part of a Torah lifestyle and convey deep meaning and understanding of God’s relationship with us. These holy days are a model for all believers weekly, monthly and yearly. At House of Covenant we strive to structure our feast services to convey these dynamic scriptural principles. Shabbat (Sabbath) is the first feast mentioned in Leviticus 23. All other feasts are fashioned after this most important day. Sabbath is the first sign of covenant that the Lord gave to all mankind. It is a day of rest and renewal, a time when we can reconnect with God and renew relationship with one another.
Passover is the beginning of the Jewish religious New Year. This feast is a rememberance of God’s deliverance from slavery and the Exodus from Egypt. It’s also the time of the sacrifice of Messiah.

Unleavened Bread is the week-long observance of removing the leaven from our homes and the eating of matzah. This also commemorates the Exodus and symbolizes the removal of sin (leaven) from our lives. Messiah, the Bread of Life, was in the grave during this feast.
First Fruits occurs on the first day following the Sabbath after Passover. This celebration is to remember that our first and best harvest belongs to the Lord. Yeshua the Messiah resurrected on this day.
Shavuot, also known as the Feast of Weeks, takes place fifty days after First Fruits. This day commemorates the giving of the Torah to Moses at Mt. Sinai and the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
Rosh Hashanah, or Feast of Trumpets, is the Jewish Civil New Year. This feast marks the fall harvest, is a rememberance of the time of Creation, as well as a time of introspection and repentance in anticipation of Yom Kippur. This is the time of the second coming of Messiah.
Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) is the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. It is the day when the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies and offer sacrifice for Israel. This festival is a time of reflection and solemn worship, mingled with a joyous anticipation for the Wedding Day of the Lamb.

Sukkot, or Feast of Tabernacles, marks the seventh festival of God’s appointed times. This is a remembrance of the Hebrews dwelling in tents during their wanderings through the desert for forty years. It is a time of celebration and thanksgiving to God for dwelling in our midst.
Simchat Torah, our time of “Rejoicing with the Torah," is a celebration that marks the conclusion of Sukkot and the renewal of the cycle of Torah readings.
Hanukkah (Feast of Dedication) remembers the Maccabean Revolt against the Selucid tyrant Antiochus Epiphanes. It marks the victory that God brought to the Hebrews and the miracle of the menorah.

Purim, also known as the Feast of Lots, remembers the time the Jewish people were in Persia and God’s protection and deliverance through Esther. This is a time of joyous fun and humor.

Thank you so much for this post! You said it so well, much better than I did. Never have I done much study about the feasts, and look forward to knowing more.

We can see from Messiah having made Himself known by coming to the world how the spring Feast were fulfilled perfectly!

If one believes in Christ and His Word is true, then it is only logical to believe that His second coming will fulfill the Fall Feast perfectly as well.

To know more about all the Feasts can only bring better understanding of our Lord and Savior, and grow our love and walk with Him.

Thank you RedTent. You have laid these out very well, so much information there friend!

Just recently I found a teaching about Unleavened Bread. How Messiah overturning the money changers tables was likened to cleaning the leaven (sin) out of His Father's Temple.

[FONT=&quot]The first example in John 2:14 took place at the commencement of Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry while the episode in Matthew 21:12 took place at the very end of his ministry. In both instances the action took place during the time period some refer to as the Sanctification of the Temple, which culminated with the Passover. The Sanctification of the Temple commenced with the first day of the first month, or New Moon. It is the beginning of a new year, which occurs in the Spring, and coincides with the time that ancient Israel left Egypt.[/FONT]

And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. [SUP]14 [/SUP]And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

[SUP]Matthew 21
[/SUP]12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, [SUP]13 [/SUP]And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Our church celebrates the Feasts as well.

Passover-We hold a community Passover Seder(service), with food and teaching. We're working on setting up smaller, more intimate seders for the future as well.

Unleavened Bread
-We go 7 days without eating yeast and many of us spend time looking for yeast and leavening agents in our house and getting rid of it.

Firstfruits
-Since very few in our congregation actually grow anything, we share a meal together and those who want to bring the firstfruits of their lives, things that God has done in them over the last year, can share it openly.

Pentecost (Shavuot)
- Another community meal with scripture reading and sharing.

Trumpets
-Community time of fellowship, blowing of trumpets and shofars, prayer over our city and our families, intercession.

Atonement
-Long service full of liturgy, personal confession and repentance. People usually "afflict" themselves by fasting from food or some other things in their life (movies, internet, legos, etc.) Concluded with a community mikveh service (kind of like baptism or ceremonial cleansing).

Tabernacles
-we camp out for 7-8 days in tents or RV's with multiple services and activities throughout the day. At least 1 community meal per day. I've been fortunate enough to have that whole week off for the last several years.

Each of these feasts have brought me a greater understanding and revelation of my God and His Kingdom, and I look forward to them every year.

Who is playing?

Believers need to exercise care about anger, so as "not to give the devil a foothold" ( Eph 4:26 ). They are to don God's full armor so as to stand against the devil's schemes. With the shield of faith they are to thwart his "flaming arrows" ( Ephesians 6:11 Ephesians 6:16 ). Ultimate victory comes by "the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, " as the devil is cast down from heaven to the earth ( Rev 12:11 ).

and exactly what does acting out shadow rituals which pointed to CHRIST THE PERSON have to do with the Blood of the lamb and the testimony about Him which causes many to die for His Name.

thanks for a Biblical answer.

dear sister zone.

i believe what sister karraster is wanting to discuss is how the feasts each relate to our lord jesus christ and all that was accomplished and still to be accomplished.

yet as you so politely shared your view that they were all fulfilled could you show us using scriptures how each feast is fulfilled as you believe they are.

thank you for this.

for i will be doing this myself as to show how each feast relates to our lord jesus christ then, now, and future tense.

Thank you so much. Understanding the Feasts of the Lord is learning more about His love and protection. I'm excited about having a closer walk with my Messiah, and what better way to know Him than to study Him and all of His Word.

I have heard it said that many Jews do not believe in the Christian's Messiah because they know Torah so well, and that a true Messiah would never make null and void the Word of God. Furthermore it is gentiles who claim Jesus blood and that is all, forget Torah, who give those unbelievers a valid claim. Far be it from me to say God lied. All God's Words are true, and not one word will pass from it, Heaven and Earth will pass but not God's Word.

I would be very interested in someone posting a 2013/14 calender that is on God's time schedule. I've just recently learned the word "feasts" are really "appointments". I want to know more about God's appointments!!

Constantine is really the one who snuffed out Yah's Feast Days, there is a famous quote, "let us have noting to do with the rabble of the Jews."

Then Passover was replaced with Easter the Babylonian goddess of fertility, and all wjho kept Yah's Feast Days of Sabbaths were killed, and now babylon is accepted and the Feast Dyas ordained by Yahweh are shunned.

it is very sad.

but I want to give praises and thanks to Yahweh for providing His people with the moadim which are great celebrations and Spiritual and physical training!

halleluYAHWEH!

The interpretation of the Hebrew calendar and the Feast Days within it can get REAL messy REAL quick. Very few topics will divide Messianic/Hebrew Roots/Feast-keeping-Christians more than how to determine when the Feasts Days are really to occur.

Do you go by Hillel's Calendar?
Do you go off of the barley harvest in Jerusalem?
Do you go off of the New Moon?
Is the New Moon when you see the 1st small sliver?
Is the New Moon when you don't see any moon at all?
Is the New Moon determined by when it's observed in Jerusalem?
IS the New Moon determined by when you see it where you live?
Is Pentecost the first Sunday after Passover?
Is Pentecost the first Sunday 1 week after Passover?
And remember, depending on the answers to each of these questions, you'll have different people and groups celebrating these Feasts on different days.

Our church uses a traditional calendar. When you're planning events and services for 50-100 people, you need to plan ahead a little bit. Especially Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles. When you're trying to arrange meals and accommodations for that many people, you can't really fly by the seat of your pants on that.

So roughly, here are the dates
Passover - April 14th
Unleavened Bread - April 15-21
Firstfruits - April 20th
Pentecost - June 8th
Trumpets - Sept 25th
Atonement - Oct 4th
Tabernacles Oct 9th-16th

Again, depending on your answers to some of the above questions, the days can vary a little or a lot. The thing I keep going back to is "What's more important to God?" The focus on the date, or the focus on Him?

yes! its like Yah's Spiritual training using His appointed times!

Feast of Unleavend Bread taught me some great lesson for walking in Yah's way and what I need to do in my life to allow for this to be so, you know so I didnt get in His way with my transgression.
