Howdy Vote4Jesus, you do know the Apostles asked Jesus this same question, but before I go into that I think Lighthousejohn and MaggieMye gave great answers.
Luke 17:5-10
5) And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6) And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
7) But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
8) And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9) Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
10) So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
Jesus is telling His apostles here just a little faith is all it takes but for faith to grow it must be exercise and we must be humble as a child (Matthew 18:3-6). For the apostle are told to do what they are commanded and we as Christian are commanded to Love God and one another (Matthew 22:37-40; John 15;12). If you want your faith to increase love others, this is not possible for us as humans without the help of the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5).
For what does Paul the Apostle said is the work of faith: For in Jesus Christ neither circumsicion availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Galatians 5:6
Isn't this what James was trying to tell us in James 2. (8) If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: (9) But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
James 2:8-9
If we would look at these verses than read of faith without works being dead (James 2:17,26), we would understand that faith without love is DEAD. IMO if you want your faith to grow love God and others like Christ love us (John 15:13--I John 3:16).
