As the Holy Spirit convicts us of righteousness, He will also convict us of sin. This is why we do repent when we sin.
If we understand what is light, we will also understand what darkness is as well.
They are not mutually exclusive.

As God instructs us as to what is pleasing to Him, we also know therefore what is displeasing to God.
God will show us where we do not line up in His sight and give us the unction to follow what is pleasing to Him. This is why born again believers are exhorted to "find out what is pleasing to the Lord." This isn't always immediate, but as we who are in different parts of our walk find out what is the underlying truth, we are asked to allow God to change us. As we are born of light, so walk in that light.

here is the problem.

An unbeliever can not walk in the light, All he can possibly wish to accomplish is to walk toward the light (God)

A believer can not only walk in the light, he can be light himself. to help draw others to God.. But he can also moment by moment chose to step out of that light and serve self..

People in here want us to walk n the light to get saved, Not because we are saved,, or tell us we are not saved, until we get to heaven, In which case, We can not walk in the light. The things of God (how to walk in th elight) are foolishness to those who are not his..

John defines sin as the transgression of law in 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

If we are not under law but under grace, then we cannot transgress the law, and so we cannot sin. Correct me if I'm mistaken somewhere.

So the law just disappears? It is ok for a believer to go commit adultery, Lie, Steal Cheat Murder? CHose to serve self and not others (fail to love God) I did not know this. Was it ok to do these things before the law was given by Moses? since there was no law? What was the purpose of the law? (see Gal 3)

the law is not done away for believers, The penalty or curse of the law is taken away.

SIn is still sin, It still has its temporal consequences, it still stings, It still damages relationships. not only between us and God but between us and the ones we love.

Thats why God wants us to look to him, and not self. One who does this (serve the law of love) need not worry about the law. the law will take care of itself. and when we step aside and look back to self. we have the HS there to chasten us, and lead us back on the right path.

A non believer, they do not have this available to them. The HS will not chasten them, The penalty has not been removed. They are headed to eternal death unless they repent, and are cleansed by the blood, adopted as Gods children, and given the spirit in their hearts as a guarantee..

Amen! 1 John 1:6 - If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. Walking in darkness is descriptive of lost unbelievers. Walking in the light is descriptive of saved believers. Only saved believers are in the light:

Acts 26:18 - to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Ephesians 5:8 - For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Lost unbelievers walk in darkness, not in the light. Saved believers walk in the light, not in darkness. IF confirms these positions in verses 6 and 7. It's one or the other.

That was not me trying to get offensive with you, it was just a little dry humor, with a touch of misrepresentation, but only with the, not understanding, part.

Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

My point is that, at one time the people that Paul was writing to started out believing they were justified by faith in Christ, then sometime after, were taught to obey the law for their justification. In that sense, Christ's work on the cross had become of no effect to them and at tht time, they fell from grace.
That's just how I read it.
My understanding is, we have God's grace and favor BECAUSE of the Spirit that is in us. And we received that Spirit of grace and truth BECAUSE we received Christ in our hearts.
The bible says that Jesus was full of grace and truth. Joh 1:14
Each is a Spirit from and of Him.

Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Without the Spirit of grace, we would not have God's grace.
Without the Spirit of truth, we would not be able to receive the truth of God's word. Therefore we would not have truth.
Without the spirit of faith, we would not be able to have faith for salvation.
These Spirits proceed from God and enter our hearts, and from there they produce fruit in us.
Each spirit is what their name states. Even as a spirit of fear produces fear in a person.
Or as the spirit of a prophet give the prophet the ability to prophesy.
In the same sense that the ladies who had a spirit of divination or familiar spirit gave them the ability to divine, as the bible puts it.
Grace is not only the unmerited favor of God, it is a living Spirit of God within His children.
That is how I see and understand grace.
That does explain why we have trouble communicating, because I don't see grace as a spirit....Or Truth as a spirit or Faith as a spirit. Or Fear as a spirit....

I am not filled with many spirits with those names.

Grace, faith, truth are attributes given from God to us and not individual spirits...the only Spirit we have as children of God is the Holy Spirit.

Maybe someone can explain it...personally I am going to pray because this concept of many spirits is somewhat alarming and my red flags just jumped up.

But a person who has TRULY received Christ and been justified by grace through faith can never be unjustified.

So??? He had some of the wonderful works, but Christ NEVER knew him.(Matt 7.22-23).

Believing INTO Christ, as opposed to believing ABOUT Christ, makes a man a true child of God. And one who has believed into Christ will never be lost (John 6.39)

God has promised otherwise (John 6.39; 10.27-29; I Cor 1.8-9; eph 1.3-14; Phil 1,6; etc). So do I believe you or God?

No, no. we are saved by the grace of God by means of His awakening faith within us.

That is true, but it is God Who produce faith within us by His grace. Faith is the channel God uses. It is Jesus Christ Who saves. If our faith were our own we would be contributing our part to salvation, and it is NOT OF WORKS.

That may explain your lack of true healings and deliverance.
To them who believe there is no God, to them, there is no God. And likewise to them who believe in OSAS, to them, no person who was truly born again can be unjustified.
Who should you believe? The word of God of course.
One problem with that is that without the right spirit you will not be able to receive the truth of God's word. You will be ever learning but never be able to come to the truth. You will have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. And in most cases, you won't even know that you don't have the truth. I am speaking about those who have the wrong spirit.
If anyone has received true healings and deliverances, it would be me. No drugs, doctors, or treatments to get them. I use only the word of God.
Hearing the word of God produces faith. I would think the grace of God simply allows you to hear it. That I don't know.
Contrary to what you believe, we do contribute to our salvation and without works, faith is dead.
As our righteousness is not our own, neither is our faith. But like the prophets, the spirit of faith is subject to us. Even the WOF is our servant or soldier.
Faith comes, it is not awakened.
And even as we are saved by the word of God, and like the love of God, salvation is conditional and contingent upon our keeping God's word.

[TD="colspan: 3, align: left"]What is the grace of God? Simply put, the grace of God is God blessing, healing and delivering you because of Jesus. The grace of God is His unearned, unmerited and undeserved favor toward you simply because of Jesus’ finished work at the cross.

Because God’s grace is based on Jesus’ work and not yours, the only way you fall from this grace is by believing that you can earn, merit and deserve it through your obedience and good works.

For example, you fall from grace when you say, “God has to answer my prayer because I have prayed long enough.” You also fall from grace when you think that because you are serving in church or you have kicked a bad habit, God is pleased with you and He has to bless you.

When you think that it is by your efforts and obedience that you receive God’s blessings, you become like the Pharisees. They believed that their law-keeping justified them and ensured that God would bless them. But the truth is that when you believe like them, “you have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace”. This means that you are cut off from Christ, who is your salvation, Redeemer, healer and provider. Christ has become of no effect to you!

My friend, surely you would want Christ to be of effect to you. People to whom Christ is of effect receive from Him the miracle they need. When He is of effect to them, He is their healer and they get healed. He is their wisdom and they are wise before man. He is their good success and they experience good success in all that they do.

Beloved, for Christ to always be of effect to you and to never nullify the grace of God operating in your life, just remember and believe that it is because of Christ and His finished work—His blood, His stripes, His death, His obedience—that you are justified, healed and blessed![/TD]

Respectfully speaking, I disagree with your definition of grace. Look at how a ballerina dances gracefully. She moves her arms gently in a very controlled manner. She leaps while on her toes. In the same manner, spiritually speaking, God caused the death angel to pass over those who had the blood of a perfect lamb on the entrance of their house. Just as the second death will Passover those who spiritually have the blood of Christ on their hearts. God's grace is passing over our sins instead of holding us accountable for them. It is not about physically healing, God would not heal Paul, saying that His grace was sufficient for him- that shows that the grace was not the healing.

Falling from grace is removing yourself from the group of people who will receive the gift of grace- which are the obedient ones. In other words, you have left the church- which is the body of Christ, and therefore left Christ and His life saving blood. Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, you have no life in you." When we take the Lord's Supper upon the first day of the week, in the assembly of the saints, we are upholding our part of the covenant we have with God.

Does this mean we must have perfect attendance? Of course not, but we must not forsake going at all. It's like this... If you cut off blood circulation to your hand it falls asleep so to speak. When you return blood flow, it feels like needles are pricking you, but your hand is still alive and still part of the body. But if you tie a rubber band tightly around your finger, eventually it will turn blue, then gangrene, then fall off. If this happens, it can never again be part of the body. This (done spiritually) is falling from grace, and the bible says some have done this.

Physically our blood keeps us alive. Spiritually Christ's blood keeps us alive. Those who are IN Christ have His blood, and those who have Christ's blood have God's grace- just as in the Old Testament Passover.

Hi OneFaith., I understand why you say that. I was taught that Paul's thorn in the flesh was always a physical sickness having something to do maybe with his eyes or some other awful pain his body would not allow him to forget. But that is not what that "thorn in the flesh" refers to.

If you check out in the Bible the phrase "thorn in the flesh" it is always referring to either satan or annoying people. Like today we say someone is a pain in the butt. Also., Paul clearly said an angel from satan was sent to him not an angel from God. God doesn't send us sickness and death. He sent Jesus and He had the victory over sin and death. Jesus has overcome those things. The Bible says clearly that satan is one who comes to -kill -steal -destroy. Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly. These truths are Biblical.

Paul had the Judeizers (sp) following him around allll the time back then. He would preach about the grace of God in Christ and those religious Jews who believed in the law to make a person right with God.,they would come in and preach the law to the people just as soon as Paul left. Seeking to put that yoke of bondage on the church yet again.

They were literally a thorn in Paul's side and even though he prayed many times to be relieved of them Jesus told him that His grace was sufficient. Just like us today when we are in tribulations Jesus promises His yoke is easy and His burden is light. His unmerited favor and love are sufficient for us just like it was for Paul back then.

I agree only with the Word and below is the Word.
The Holy Spirit is mentioned by many names in the Bible, usually in reference to a particular role or function. The following is a listing of the biblical names of the Holy Spirit and where they are found in the Bible (from Torrey's New Topical Textbook):

1. Spirit of glory (1 Peter 4:14)

6. Spirit of God (Genesis 1:2; 1 Corinthians 2:11; Job 33:4)
7. Eternal Spirit (Hebrews 9:14)
8. Spirit of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2; Acts 5:9)
9. Spirit of wisdom (Isaiah 11:2; Ephesians 1:17)

11. Spirit of might (Isaiah 11:2)
12. Spirit of understanding (Isaiah 11:2)
13. Spirit of knowledge (Isaiah 11:2)
14. Spirit of the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2)
15. Spirit of judgment (Isaiah 4:4; 28:6)
16. Spirit of burning (Isaiah 4:4)
17. Spirit of the Lord God (Isaiah 61:1)

20. Spirit of truth (John 14:17; 15:26)
21. Power of the Highest (Luke 1:35)
22. Spirit of the Father (Matthew 10:20)
23. Spirit, The (Matthew 4:1; John 3:6; 1 Timothy 4:1)
24. Good Spirit (Nehemiah 9:20; Psalms 143:10)
25. Holy Spirit (Psalm 51:11; Luke 11:13; Ephesians 1:13; 4:30)
26. Free Spirit (Psalm 51:12)
27. Spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10)
28. Seven Spirits of God (Revelation 1:4)
29. Spirit of holiness (Romans 1:4)
30. Spirit of adoption (Romans 8:15)
31. Spirit of life (Romans 8:2; Revelation 11:11)

Well PollyAnna, I can understand why you would feel that way since many people have swore the same thing about me without knowing me personally., and I was not guilty of the accusation either. I'm in agreement with JP on a bunch of issues and I'm not a heretic anymore than he is. I've done my investigations and delved into what the Bible says and my conclusions are not the same as many here have concluded on a bunch of issues. That doesn't make me a heretic.

I understand that many people jump the gun as a matter of habit in life even before learning more about a person or group of people. It's a shame how many people take the word of the group and just go along. Many have split families over wrong judgments about someone. Some people even die for things they only heard were true without any facts. I think this is the ultimate shame in a Christians life. To falsely accuse someone or a group of someones only to find out they were terribly wrong.

I've been there myself and it wasn't humble pie I ate. It was more like the horrible putrid flavor I could easily imagine dead crow tasting like. GACK!

"Seeker-sensitive pastors routinely provide a path of least biblical resistance for the unbeliever to gain entry into God’s kingdom. And for many, Romans 10:9 is the shortcut they’ve been looking for: “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Paul could never have imagined his glorious, hope-filled promise would be exploited 2,000 years later as a two-step altar call formula—simply confess and believe. It has become a comfortable, spiritual Fast Pass for people who have no interest in submitting to the lordship of Christ.
Joseph Prince, a mega-church pastor, best-selling author, and TBN regular, offers this cheap invitation to those who visit his website:
The Bible tells us how to be saved and have eternal life: Believe in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the grave, and confess with our mouths that He is our Lord and Savior. . . . To be saved and to receive all that Jesus has done for you, you can make Him your Lord and Savior today by praying this prayer: “Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and dying for me on the cross. Your precious blood washes me clean of every sin. You are my Lord and my Savior, now and forever. I believe that You rose from the dead and that You are alive today. Because of Your finished work, I am now a beloved child of God and heaven is my home. Thank You for giving me eternal life, and filling my heart with Your peace and joy. Amen” (emphasis added). [SUP][1][/SUP]
Unfortunately, Joseph Prince’s textploitation is nothing unusual in the current evangelical climate. Regardless, reading the rest of Romans would be far more beneficial than tuning into Prince’s next broadcast. Paul made it clear elsewhere that our confession and faith are proven false if there is no fruit of repentance in our lives (Romans 6:1–18)."....Gty.com

It isnt slander if it is true. Who has eyes to see and ears to hear? Will you bother to read this or will you jump in to respond out of sheer stubborn ignorance?

Good stuff Lynn!
Many also believe the messenger of Satan sent to buffet Paul to keep him from exalting himself was a Spirit of Anger.

The Bible says clearly that satan is one who comes to -kill -steal -destroy. Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly. These truths are Biblical.
Just a side note an nothing more and you may know this or not.

This is not clearly what Jesus said in John 10.10 Jesus said the THIEF comes and many decades ago, certain tele-evangelists started saying the "ENEMY' or "SATAN" not the THIEF. This was too help propel the false prosperity gospel message. They further strayed and said and that in John 10.10 The THIEF that Jesus was talking about was the enemy of our soul, Satan, and the whole discourse in John 10 about the Good shepherd was about Satan Vs. Jesus, because the Enemy comes to steal..when in reality it is the THIEF and this is interpretation is not even close, but could does have its roots in Satan.

Proper Bible interpretation always asks who is talking and who is that person talking to. If we apply these 2 simple rules, we learn immediately who the enemy was Jesus was referring to in John 10.10, but to learn that, we must first go back a chapter and start at John 9.40. Why go back to John 9.40? because many preach and teach that Jesus was talking to his disciples in John 10 and therefore they came up with the idea that the enemy must be Satan.

However, the Bible should not be read as a linear book. Meaning you read one chapter and it ends there. Romans 1-8 must be read as a continuous thought to understand the gems it offers. Likewise Matthew 5, 6 and 7 is the complete sermon on the mount and never ends at each chapter.

The same is true for John chapters 9 & 10, you must read Chapter 9 to understand the discourse on the Good Shepherd and at John 9.40 is where we get revelation knowledge.

The disciples were not with Jesus when he found the Blind man that had been put out of the temple. After he speaks to the blind man we pick up Verse 40 below...

John 9.40-41
Those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things and said to Him, “We are not blind too, are we?” [SUP]41 [/SUP]Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.

John 10.1
“Truly, truly, I say to you............Jesus is still talking to the Pharisees, he spoke to and answered in John 9.41 not his disciples.....

John 10.6-7
[SUP]6 [/SUP]This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them. [SUP]7 [/SUP]So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.....Jesus is still talking to the pharisee's

John 10.10 [SUP]
10 [/SUP]The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Jesus was talking and talking to the pharisees so how could the thief be turned into an enemy who is Satan?

Jesus was not saying clearly it is Satan who comes to steal, kill and destroy, but the thief that does do these 3 things is:
RELIGION! Jesus is not religion and his way is life and life more abundantly!

Verse 19 says: [SUP]19 [/SUP]A division occurred again among the Jews because of these words.
Every where in scripture when the disciples are around it says so by name, the disciples. The term used was THE JEWS, which means the Pharisee's and Sadducee's, because in Vs11-18 Jesus talks about resurrection.

It is religion that comes to steal, kill and destroy and at its heart is Satan.

Could you please tell us how you lead people to Jesus Christ?
