Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I was tired last night and in pain, and I didn't feel like walking across the house to get my Bible, where I have written hundreds of amazing verses in the back, that no-one really tends to quote.

As for the minor prophets, they are not "lesser" and the major prophets "greater." Rather they are called "minor" because they are simply smaller books than the large prophets such as Isaiah with 66 chapters and Jeremiah with 52 chapters. No book in the Bible is less than any other book. All the words in the Bible are inspired! Just to clarify!

Here is a NOT small book, but a verse I love.

"And Samuel said,“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to listen than the fat of rams." 1 Samuel 15:22

From the "writings":

"Vanityof vanities, says the Preacher; all is vanity." Ecclesiastes 12:8

Another big book of narratives, but very important theology! Sometimes we look for the grand, the powerful, the amazing! But God is not in the earthquake or the wind, God was found in a low whisper. And this was right after Elijah had just fought and beaten the prophets of Baal through the strong arm of the Lord on Mt. Carmel

"
11 And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.12 And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.13 And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?" 1 Kings 19:11-13

Even in the OT, people did not have to be ritually clean to partake of the Passover - seeking God with all your heart is really the most important thing anyone can do, Old or New Covenant!

"18 For a majority of the people, many of them from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than as prescribed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, “May the good Lord pardon everyone19 who sets his heart to seek God, the Lord, the God of his fathers, even though not according to the sanctuary's rules of cleanness." 1 Chronicles 30:18-19

And not to leave out the minor prophets! (As in small, not lesser!)

"
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts." Zech 4:6

And some really good stuff in the major prophets, which are not always quoted.

"It is good that one should wait quietly,
For the salvation of the Lord." Lamentations 3:26

Much more to come!

well, here's one you don't see everyday...

Song of Solomon 8:7
Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor will rivers overflow it;
If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love,
It would be utterly despised.

i love how this says:

your name is like perfume poured out.
(Song of Songs 1:3)

Ezekiel 12:3 "Therefore, thou son of man, prepare thee stuff for removing, and remove by day in their sight; and thou shalt remove from thy place to another place in their sight: it may be they will consider, though they be a rebellious house."

I had been trying to transfer from one nursing home to one closer to home. Prayed and put all the influence behind it I could muster. Talked to the place I wanted to go one day and was told "We may have a place in a few days because we have one resident that might be leaving".
This scripture came to me that evening. I called my mom and asked her where to find it and she couldn't remember ever hearing it. I finally found it and dwelt on it for a bit. Got up, packed my clothes. My daughter calls me later that evening and said "Dad, we're moving you in the morning. You have to be ready because I can't take off work all day".

Needless to say, I was ready! :)

Seek the Lord, all you meek of the land, who do what He says is just. Seek righteousness. Seek humility of heart. Perhaps you will be hidden from the Lord's displeasure.

I really like Habakkuk and Haggai, here are some verses I like from these:

Habakkuk 2:11 For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.

Habakkuk 2:15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

Habakkuk 3:3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

Haggai 1:2 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built. 4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? 9 Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

Haggai 2:16-17 Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty. I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

Haggai 2:23 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts. (Authority of the chosen!)

Deuteronomy 30:11-15 (the whole chapter is great)
11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. 15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

So I have very deformed feet. Sometimes, I can barely walk at all. Other days, when I am good, I can walk around the house. One day, I was praying for some encouragement from God about this particular torment. I started reading my Bible. I usually read in a few places at the same time. Some OT, some psalms and some NT.

On this day, I started reading 1 Sam. 22:34

"He makes my feet like the feet of a deer
and sets me securely on the heights." 1 Sam 22:34

Then I turned to the Psalms, and found this.

"He makes my feet like the feet of a deer
and sets me securely on the heights." Psalm 18:33

I was reading the minor prophets on that day, and this is what I found in Habakkuk!

"Yahweh my Lord is my strength;
He makes my feet like those of a deer
and enables me to walk on mountain heights!" Habakkuk 3:19

I went to look for further references, and found these were the only three. I considered this a real answer to prayer. So have I been healed? Not yet! But I know one day, I will see Christ face to face, and he will make me whole. I have never worried about my feet again, even when they hurt.

I once had a pastor, and he said just to read the Bible through, and God will use the daily readings to show you the truth you need that day. I have never doubted that again. How good to know that ALL of God's Word speaks to us. Not just the well known verses!

There are no coincidences with God!

I used to worry about gray hair and getting old! Then God showed me quite a few verses on the fact that with gray hair comes wisdom and even encouragement.

Here is one I read just before I started Seminary. Maybe it was part of the reason why I went.

"God, You have taught me from my youth,
and I still proclaim Your wonderful works.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Even when I am old and gray,
God, do not abandon me.
Then I will proclaim Your power
to another generation,
Your strength to all who are to come." Psalm 72:17-18

Then God showed me this verse:

"Gray hair is a glorious crown;
it is found in the way of righteousness." Prov. 16:31

And not to forget God's promise in this verse!

"I will be the same until your old age,
and I will bear you up when you turn gray.
I have made you, and I will carry you;
I will bear and save you." Isaiah 46:4

Then there are the verses which you may know, about being the clay, and God being the potter.

"Yet Lord, You are our Father;
we are the clay, and You are our potter;
we all are the work of Your hands." Isaiah 64:8

"Please remember that You formed me like clay.
Will You now return me to dust?" Job 10:9

"Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?" Romans 9:21

"But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us." 2 Cor. 4:7

Here are some Old and New Testament verses on God's promises to give us a new heart! Of course, some are written to Israel, but I think Paul confirms they apply to the Gentiles too, in 2 Corinthians 3.

"I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart." Jeremiah 24:7

"
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people." Jeremiah 31:33

"And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, [SUP]20 [/SUP]that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God." Ezekiel 11:19-20

"And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26

"
You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. [SUP]3 [/SUP]And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts" 2 Cor. 3:2-3

Hosea 6:7

6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.

I think this is a glimpse into the heart of God.

[SUP]It's a popular Book.....just wanted to post it.:D

1 Corinthians 11: 17-22
[SUP]
17 [/SUP]Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
[/SUP]

[SUP]18 [/SUP]For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

[Daniel 6:18-23] [SUP]18 [/SUP]Then King Darius returned to his palace and went to bed without dinner. He refused his usual entertainment and didn’t sleep all night. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Very early the next morning he hurried out to the lions’ den [SUP]20 [/SUP]and called out in anguish, “O Daniel, servant of the Living God, was your God, whom you worship continually, able to deliver you from the lions?” [SUP]21 [/SUP]Then he heard a voice! “Your Majesty, live forever!” It was Daniel! [SUP]22 [/SUP]“My God has sent his angel,” he said, “to shut the lions’ mouths so that they can’t touch me, for I am innocent before God; nor, sir, have I wronged you.”
[SUP]23 [/SUP]The king was beside himself with joy and ordered Daniel lifted from the den. And not a scratch was found on him because he believed in his God.

(I cry every single time I read this, as it touches my heart how much King Darius loved godly Daniel and how faithful God is to him!)

Malakyah 3:16, "Then those who reverenced Yahweh spoke often one to another, and Yahweh paid attention and heard them; and a Book of Remembrance was written in His presence of those who gave reverence to Yahweh, and who thought upon, His Name."
I like this passage, too. It speaks of this very peculiar book called "The Book of Remembrance" (Malachi 3:16 KJV). As you may know, it is a heavenly book that records those who fear the Lord and who think upon His name. On that day when the Lord makes special Jewels (no doubt as a reward) for His people, He will remind those who feared Him about the difference between those who had truly served God and those who did not (Malachi 3:17 KJV) (Malachi 3:18 KJV). This book was created as a reply to those who feared the Lord and who were concerned about how evil was triumphing over that which was good (Malachi 3:14, 15, 16).

The Book of Remembrance holds every act of faithful service done for the Lord for the true believer. Every encouraging word, every unselfish deed, every sacrifice made, the Lord has carefully placed there as a witness to the universe that they are indeed His very own children.

"Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?" ~ (Psalm 56:8)

Now, does God need a Book of Remembrance? No, of course not; This is something the people needed to remember all that God had done for them. We find a similar occurrence with a monument in Joshua 4:1-7. All these of course are reminders which help to remind us of God’s love, grace, justice, and mercy.
