Proverbs

Let your ears be open to the words of your own mouth, and take heed to the counsel you give others. For a hypocrite will not enter the kingdom of God. Niether will the man whose pride is evil.

The imaginations of the man with a warped mind are abominable unto the LORD. But the intentions of the righteous please him.

It is not God's will that any should tread upon the path that leads to destruction. Niether to even set a foot upon it.

Faith mingled with perseverance therein is a belly that's been satiated by the tree of life. But the forbidden fruit is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

As the wife in the bed of marriage is before the husband, so the hearts of men are naked before the LORD. Yet even as they were before the serpent's deception, the heart of a righteous man feels no shame because of it's nudity.

Affliction upon the wicked often leads to repentence. But the prosperity of a righteous man is the well-being of his neighbor.

As the size of a man is multiplied from birth, so is what's given to a faithful steward. His Master will praise him for his prudence.

As wood is consumed by the fire, so is the faithless in the time of testing. But the patient man is purged like the gold of Ophir. Even so, he who calls upon the name of the LORD will be saved.

The man who believes Jesus is the Christ won't sin. But the one who does not will not enter the kingdom of God.

The Spirit of God is the conception of Scripture. But the devil is the father of falsehood.

A criminal who persists in his crime will be confined to a lonely place. But the LORD Almighty is omnipresent; he can even be found there.

As the other side of an uncrossable river, so is the Father without the Son. But to him who believes on Jesus, his eyes are opened and behold, a bridge is there.

A grateful heart ends in contentment, yet his borders will grow large. Not so with the greedy, he will be stripped naked. Yet much will be required from him who has been given much.

Cease from worry for it leads to sin. Cast your cares upon the LORD, for he will sustain you; those who trust him will never fall.

There are two zeals that please the LORD: one is a zeal with knowledge, the other is a consistent zeal in a good thing. The hand of the LORD is with him who has them.

A sound doctrine is living water to a righteous man. But the leaven of a pharisee is a distraction.

A man backslides who repents of sound doctrine. But a liar will be honored if he tells the truth.

Shemenaba (שמנבא)

The first four genrations in Abaray: אדם שת אנוש קינן
An english tranliteration: Adam set anavash qaynan.

The first meaning: Man apointed mortal sorrow.
Thus, the reason for the second meaning: Red compensation [leaves] man fixed.

The first meaning is talking about the sin of the world through Adam. The second is talking about the redemption of man by the shedding of blood. Who's blood?

The follwing three generations in Abaray are: מהללאל ירד חנוך
An english transliteration: Mahalelu'el yared kenavok.

A common meaning: The blessed God will come down teaching.
Another rendering: What? The Blessing of God will descend making disciples.

Who is this other than our Lord Jesus Christ? Indeed it is him.

The following three generations in Abaray: מתושלח למך נח
An english transliteration: Matuvshelak lamek nok.

So what does this mean? Well essentially the second meaning of the first four.
A common meaning: His death will bring the despairing comfort and rest.
Another redering: His death will provide the afflicted with mercy.

Altogether the shemenaba says: Man appointed mortal sorrow. What! The Blessing of God will descend making disciples. His death will provide the afflicted with mercy.

Proceeding to the generations from Abraham to our Lord, the shemenaba means this:

The Father of many, he laughs at the deciever. There will be praise breaking out, surounded by a wall, high or exalted. My kinsman is a noble enchanter with garment fleetness. Serving, I possess beloved peace a people has enlarged.

Yehovah is my Father and the injurious Yehovah judges. Yehovah is exalted by his strength. He is perfect and he has grasped. Yehovah is my Strength. Causing to forget [his trouble], a skilled workman, whom Yehovah heals, he will establish.

I have asked of God to be sown in Babylon, a father of praise, that God raises. A court, that is righteous, will be established by God. God is my Praise, and God has helped with his hope. [Despite the] supplanter, Yehovah has added his salvation.

Amen

Your thread reminds me that when I was a young man, I did not read the book of Proverbs, and I made mistakes the book of Proverbs advises you not to make. Now I am older and I pay every day for the mistakes I made then. There are consequences to our actions, aren’t there?

The world ate grapes, and Jesus Christ's teeth were set on edge.

The queen came from the south, and armies will come from the north. Yet the LORD has removed are sins as far as the east is from the west.

Mothers will dance, and young boys will sing. But a lament is reserved for the unbelieving.

Magnify the Father, and glorify the Son. Edify the Church, and testify to the lost. Follow the Spirit of God, and hallow his name.

The children of God are justified by their Father, but Wisdom by her children.

The Lord's blood has purchased those who believe, but his blood is on the head of the faithless.

Faith shown by works is a dog. But faith without works is a lion, even a young lion. As it is written: A live dog is better than a dead lion.

They who do not do the will of God are not kin to Christ, niether are they his friends. But they who keep his words, are.

Discipline saw no death. But the Lord's love led himself to the grave. Even so, he rose.

The birthday of a ruler often ends in the removal of a man's head. But the day the Lord died he purchased the Body, and became the head of each man.

The righteous are born twice. But the wicked die twice.

Lamek instituted a vengence seventy times seven-fold. But our Lord instituted forgiveness seventy times seven-fold.

An evil man will fight for what he thinks he has. But a disciple of Jesus resists him not.

What did the evil man do to the disciple? Struck him on the cheek.
What did the disciple do to the evil man? Turned to him the other.

What did the evil man do to the disciple? Sued him for his coat.
What did the disciple do to the evil man? Gave him his cloak also.

What did the evil man do to the disciple? Persuaded him to go a mile.
What did the disciple do the evil man? Went with him two.

Proverbs is one of the first books i read and studied when i became a christian Bob. Indeed I was a fool of fools before I came to Christ, but our Lord bore the cross for my foolishness. Those follies were forgiven, I was cleansed, renewed, reborn, and now i live as wise. But I do not view myself as wise now, I only know that my obediance to him, manifests my love for him. So when Solomon said a wise man does this, and a fool does this, I imitate that wise man, and walk not in the way of the fool. Even so for the righteous/wicked, dillegent/lazy, just/unjust, and all the other goods over the evils there are. The words in the book of Proverbs, have guided me. And I thank our God for his Word, his Spirit, and his Name.

Yes, the Lord forgives and provides generously.
I don’t hear much talk at ChristianChat about faith. Maybe it’s a topic we need to explore.

Faith shown by works is a dog. But faith without works is a lion, even a young lion. As it is written: A live dog is better than a dead lion.

The meaning here is that a small amount of faith that is made manifest by its possesor (a live dog), is better than much faith that is hidden (a dead lion). As the disciple says: Faith without works is dead. I turn now to the apostle: For by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.

Now, who are we to ignore the pre-ordination of God, and the purpose for which we have recieved this new birth, rendering what was old and tainted, a new creation in Christ? Let us answer his call that we may walk according to his purpose, and in obediance, as the subordinate to the Ordinate, as the creation of the Creator, that our love is made manifest, and we recieve that promise for which these requirements apply: That all things be worked together for the good of us, and that we be reckoned brothers and friends unto him whom we once didnt know at all, nor did we even serve him, but that we might become fully trained, and in truth be at level with the Lord Jesus, as he has said in his Gospel.

Cease from worry for it leads to sin. Cast your cares upon the LORD, for he will sustain you; those who trust him will never fall.

I turn now to the apostle: To him who works not, but trusts in the God who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted to him for righteousness. As the psalmist says: He will never let the righteous fall. Thus: those who trust him will never fall. For our current righteousness is the fruit of our faith, and not of our deeds. Even so, we cannot fully equip ourselves with the armor of God, with out having our shield, that is our faith, which has been apportioned to us, as unto everyone, for the breastplate that gaurds our heart, that resists the spear of the accuser, is that of righteousness, which without our faith we would not have recieved.
