When they asked Jesus was work they were required to do
Jesus responded. "It is the work of God that we believe in the one he sent"
Jesus responded. "It is the work of God that we believe in the one he sent"
that’s true so what about what he taught them who believed ? Are they supposed to not believe his teachings and just say “ no you said I just need to believe in you “
do you see what I mean ? Of we believe in the one God sent we have to acknowledge why he was sent
“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
John 18:37 KJV
Jesus repeatedly said the same thing in different various ways so your argument is because Jesus said to believe in him , he didn’t say this or it doesn’t apply ? This is what he said to those who did believe in him
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:31-32
We don’t reject his words on the basis that we believe in him it’s an issue when one verse tries to omit the others .
if we believe in Jesus we will believe what he said that includes all e truth God sent him to teach and say believe and be saved
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:24 KJV
to those who believe in him , this has too much value to reject in the name of grace
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
John 8:51 KJV
to a believer this is too great to reject they will Pursue his words of eternal
Life
“Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”
John 6:68-69 KJV
To say I believe Jesus exists is one thing , to believe in Jesus is to accept his words as those of God. His doctrine is what makes us righteous believing his teachings and words what he taught about life , death , sin repentance , brotherly love , good works , eternal
Life , God the father , his children everything he preached in the gospel is the truth is my point of we believe in him we will come to that understanding and believe because it’s eternal
Life
we have to grow up at some point and start bearing fruit that’s always a warning over an unfruitful life in Christ if we can’t acknowledge his teachings it’s because we can’t handle the truth yet . Sometimes we’re not ready , other times we love sin too much and aren’t willing to come into repentance but God knows the difference
rejecting his teachings ( I don’t know whether you do or not ) but doing so leaves us facing the judgement of the dead
