___________________
There are many circumstances in Hagar's life which arent pleasant.
She was born in Egypt..may be at palase..
And after she had to travel a lot with new mistress..
She was pregnant with a child without husbant..
But God spoke to her..
If she was believer?

Hagar is an example to us about trying to bring about Gods promises on our own!

Trying to do it ourselves!

She represents the old covenant,

and Sarah represents the new covenant!

the angel said in vs. 10

I will multiply your descendants exceedingly,

so that they shall not be counted for the multitude.

11) the angel said,

Behold, you are with child, and you shall bear a son.
You shall call him Ishmael, because the Lord has heard your affliction.

He shall be a wild man;

His hand shall be against every man, and every man's hand against him.

And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. ( sound like the wheat and the tears?)

Gal. 4:22

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, the one by the bondwoman,

the other by the freewoman.

23) But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and of the freewoman through promise,

which these are symbolic.

For these are the two covenants:

the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar-for the Hagar is Mount Sinsi in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children-

but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Read Gal. 4-5

My mom is taking a class on women in the Bible, and one of the chapters in on Hager. Did you know that she was the first person to give God a name? Genesis 16: 13
