Another part of the book Scandalous: The cross and the Resurrection of Jesus (DA Carson). I have, over the last week been reading this book as an easter reflection. I pray the excerpt (end of chapter)below is a blessing to you all on this, the remembrance weeknd of what our Lord and Saviour has accomplished for us.

Da Carson finnishs a chapter in His book with 2 glorious Hymn excerpts.

Here is love vast a the ocean:

On the mount of crucifixion fountains opened deep and wide,
Through the floodgates of your mercy flowed a vast and gracious tide.
Here is love like mighty rivers poured unceasing from above.
Heaven's peace and perfect justice kissed a guilty world in Love.
(William Rees 1802-1883)

The themes of God's wrath, forebearance. and love barrell through scripture and climax in the cross. Another such hymn is from stuart Townend, "How deep the Father's Love for Us":

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders.
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
call out among the scoffers.

It was my sin that held Him there,
Until it was accomplished.
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finnished.

This is my song this easter: I pray that we humble ourselves on our knees before our Lord and Saviour, and reflect on what He has accomplished for us. Phil
