Chubbena I think they (Ananias and his wife) were made holy, becasue God puts the possibility out there... For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

I think Ananias and his wife FELL away. You see I cannot lie to the Holy Spirit YET. I do not have Him IN ME to lie to Him. Ananias had Him in Him. I cannot sin against the Holy Spirit if He is not IN ME. Any sin we do AFTER God gave us this...Enlightment/taste of heavenly gifts/partakers of the Holy Spirit/Good Word of God/POWERS OF THE WORLD TO COME...that we do will end us up in hell... That is sin AGAINST the Holy Spirit.. the only unforgiving sin in the World.

But how can you sin agaisnt Him if yuo did not get these things?

Ananias is such a good example for us believers - I am not even sure if they were ever in holiness (or is it righteousness?) to begin with.

I wonder who here were partakers in the powers of the world to come.... See these things are ALL charactoristics of the MAN OF GOD. These things ONLY happen to men God made holy for HIS GLORY.... And if you do ANY sin in this state, you will FALL AWAY. For me this is the sin against the Holy Spirit. Be it lieing, or stealing or swearing or adultery or any other sin. When you sin in this state, it is SIN AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT. And we all know that is the sin that leads unto death. Sure way to go to hell....


But we CANNOT commit sin unto death if we were NEVER part of these powerful things God shows here. And one that is PARTAKER of the HOLY SPIRIT IN HIM, does have all these things. That is why I say, I was NEVER a partaker of the Holy Spirit YET! Stopping sin is nothing! It is easy to stop sinning. Just STOP. But to be holy? That is another thing. Remember God said if our righteousness is not MORE than the Pharisee... WOW! Righteousness is NO SIN... So we are to do less sin than the Pharizee and they were pretty sinless people. Oh they were monsters for persecuting Jesus, but still they lives GOOD LIVES if you compare them to other people. Look it is easy to stop sinning, because all you have to do is DENY the flesh the lust. Some say it is hard but God says it is EASY and LIGHT. So I believe God. Too many false teachers in this world.


People preach way more lies than truth. Just came from the Bible Study room.. and people say YOU WILL NEVER BE PERFECT HERE ON EARTH... Wow! The Bible says the OPPOSITE. Anyway! To be Holy is only one thing... PARTAKER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT... That means me and the Holy SPIRIT ARE ONE! To be ONE with Jesus! And I believe Ananias might have been one that was filled with the Holy spirit when the erath shook. Then he FELL away... And died on the spot, same as his wife! I know they are both in hell, there is NO saving them again.

Thank you Bookie and I will tell you this. I am the man with the 1000 sins. And if Jesus did not pay for them on the cross I will have to pay for them in HELL. Since there is no more animal sacrifice. The LAMB was sacrificed for me too. I believe with my whole heart that the blood of Jesus is what will wash me PURE AS HE IS. So to think I devalue the crosswork, I do NOT. But Jesus did not stay on the cross or in the grave. He was resurrected to SHOW ME THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH.

And here is the thing BOOKIE... WHAT LIFE IS THERE AFTER DEATH? Another life of sin? Or the life He lived? Why did God not take Jesus up at the moment He resurrected Him? Bookie you know we grew to be quite good mates. And you know my heart as well as God does. I have always been stright with you and God. I cannot walk wide or winding roads. My spirit is straight and to the point and I never mean to be hurting anyone. But I am here to RECEIVE the Holy SPirit of God IN FULL! I am here because I OBEY my heart.

My heart tells me to teach 1 John 3:9 and 1 John 5:18. My heart tells me that God is my saviour and that THROUGH Jesus I will get to Him... Now... When I pass THROUGH Jesus, will I have sin in me on the OTHER SIDE OF JESUS (the narrow gate) or will Jesus WASH ME AS PURE AS HE IS PURE? So we agree PURE absolutely CLEAN. Then what? Why do we need to PASS through the gate? And is there sinners on the other side?

Bookie let us go slow on this one... what is on the other side of Jesus? Sin? Where are we when we are through the narrow gate? And here is the thing... God says.. Luk_13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Bookie what is it that prohibit the many that are not able to enter? I will tell you, as EG also said... They do not REPENT from all sin. They do not LEAVE sin. They want to take some sin with them to the other side.... God will NEVER allow any sin in on that side. Not ONE goat will enter into His pen. And that is NOW! We enter that gate HERE on earth.

Bookie, NO man will enter in the gate with a single spot on him. ALL will be perfectly washed by Jesus. But that is NOT where it ends for God. IT ends there for you but NOT for Him. If he takes that washed spirit of yours to BE IN HIM (in Him is NO SIN) and He puts His Spirit in your flesh then GOD LIVES IN FLESH ONCE AGAIN. That is the PERFECT MAN OF GOD. Not me HIM.

Bookie I cannot take my flesh through the gate, only my spirit. And if my spirit leaves my flesh the flesh will DIE! No flesh can live without spirit. So here is the thing.... I can get my spirit cleansed only through Jesus. No man comes to the Father accept by JESUS. and no man comes to Jesus if the Fahter does not DRAW HIM...God CANNOT implant his Spirit in a FILTHY BODY. My spirit has to take my body through the wash. And when I PRESENT MY BODY a HOLY sacrifice to God, God can make the flesh His temple. And then HE lives in me. Where am I the old sinner? Washed and on the other side of Jesus (the gate) IN GOD.

The ONLY thing otherside the narrow gate IS GOD HIMSELF... His Kingdom here on earth. I know Jesus is the ONLY way to God and I know the Father DRAWS me to Jesus, through the Holy Spirit THAT LEADS me. And he leads me to REPENT and OUT OF SIN. And the moment I am washed as white as snow, I enter into the gate... Pass through Jesus. Then I am IN GOD and if he does quicken my flesh with His spirit, the flesh I used to occupy is now filled with HIS HOLY SPIRIT. Then that Quickening Spirit of God gave life to ANOTHER HOLY MAN OF GOD.....

Then Jesus lives IN ME and ME IN HIM. AND THERE IS NO SIN IN THE PICTURE. I DIED in Christ and HE Lives in me. I am dead and He is alive IN ME. Holy and perfect AS ONLY HE CAN BE. Where am I? where is MY LIFE? It is holy and Hid in God WITH CHRIST... WOW!

Not once did Paul or any other apostle think or say they weren't going to make it because they weren't made perfect in the here and now. Yet Paul teaches and encourages to grow in the Lord to those who embrace Christ.

Look closely at this Ephesians passage, Paul is praying for those who's names are already written in the Lambs book of life. According to you, if there names are written in the Book of Life, these people wouldn't need this prayer! According to you they have already obtained the very thing Paul is praying for;

Does not your Spirit war with your flesh? Does not your flesh draw you one way but your Spirit draw you to the way of Salvation? Another aspect of holiness that we haven't brought out is the wholeness of the word. I think of the word as like a large beach ball that must not have a piece taken out of it. We must know and accept all of the word, as an example faith, works, grace, law, forgiveness, etc. The word "only" cannot be part of our spiritual vocabulary. Whenever anyone says that something was cancelled, they are not in wholeness. Or when someone says we need only one aspect of God.

Paul made that hard for some minds to grasp, especially as we wrestle with Hebrews 8. Paul is explaining how much better it is to learn law through the Holy Spirit, with the help that gives. How much better the blood of Christ is, so using the old way is obsolete. I can just see Paul responding to the declarations of many Christians as they say it means the written law is done away with! All through the epistles there is the statement "it is written", over and over. When scripture says "it is written" the idea that what scripture has written could be declared obsolete never once entered the minds of such as Paul. He thought everyone could know exactly what it was he told of being obsolete, and they would know that he would never make the word obsolete.

To be holy, we must include the whole of scripture, with each scripture fitting perfectly into every other scripture.

I won't post any here, it is probably controversial, as it has lots of information about the corruption at the very beginning of the Catholic Church and how Hebrew words were not translated, (optimal?) which I agree.

Being holy incorrectly indeed is useless and I am yet again struck by the phrase "come out of her". Surely I know what that article spoke against but coming out of RC is not the destination and I feel that today's main stream Christianity is just another city of Babylon - or worse - and more the urge of coming out of her.

I agree REDTENT, Holiness is the Spirit of God filling us. And He does keep away from sin and all unrighteousness... Even the sin for NOT doing good when God wants GOOD WORKS to be done... And that is the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Here is the verse that says how the HOLY SPIRIT keepeth himself..... 1 John 5:18.... We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Begotten the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD.... It is by the POWER of the Holy Spirit htat these men sinneth not... NOT AT ALL. That menas they do the right thing ALL THE TIME... Holy and perfect... WOW!

Redtent thank you for pointing it out. And I totally agree but I think Subbena will want to know HOW he cleanse us and glorify us to be holy....The completion of Holiness is the glorification... God takes you from 0% holy to 100% holy the moment he BEGOT you from sin.... The SEAL of the Holy Spirit is given when the Holy Spirit is given. The Holy Spirit IS the SEAL. Taht is why the wicket one toucheth him NOT...

Isn't the way to holiness is letting the Spirit of God lead us and we do have a choice to make?
I do know the moment we believe in Him we are cleansed but His parable warned us that it's what we let in afterwards that matters.
I also know He first glorifies us before we could glorify Him but I think to glorify Him we must be holy. I learnt from history that the Israelites was not able to glorify Him because they were not holy. They did not separate themselves from the evil practices of the nations. In fact, they brought God to shame.
What I want to know is, as stated in OP, what holiness means to us i.e. Christian today, as a whole i.e. how we are separated from the evil practices of the nations.

I agree that righteousness is through Christ alone but my question is on holiness.
Peter said "'for it is written' be holy, because I am holy." Did he pull the verse out of context in the OT and did not expect his readers to examine like the Bereans did?
Does holiness equal to righteousness?

The bible says in Romans and Hebrews that walking in righteousness makes us holy. Also 1John warns us not to be deceived by the arguments of the gnostics that preached we are spiritual & our this world & all that is of it no longer affects us. So, there is no more sin for those of us in Christ. The whole letter addresses 'how we know we are saved'. First he states that if we sin & confess God will forgive us & cleanse us but if we state we have no sin then we make him out to be a liar. This is not teaching that we can not live without living in sin because he says 'if we sin', we have an advocate with the Father.
He writes repeatedly that if we continue to sin then we do now know Christ & are still in darkness.
I brought up 1Jhn for that emphatic warning in the 3rd chapter, DO NOT BE DECEIVED!! Only those who DO righteousness are righteous!! Those who sin belong to the devil.
Righteousness is practical living which make us holy/set apart from the corruption of this world.

This is not about the city of Jerusalem, John is writing Revelation in 96 ad about 30 yrs after Jerusalem was destroyed in 70ad.. And the setting in of Rev. 18 is the end time age, just before Jesus returns to earth, the rapture had happened already and the 70th wk. of Daniel is going on. This is the sinner FOLLOW Jesus to holiness.... Sinner became Christian, became saint... NOw GOd SELAS the deal by Implanting the FULNESS OF CHRIST... The SEED of God in the man. Baptism of Holy Spirit / BORN OF SPIRIT / BORN OF GOD / GLORIFICATION / FILLING OF HOLY SPIRIT. Saint to Godly man. Saint to PERFECT MAN OF GOD. Now not only sanctified (set apart) made holy, but MADE GODLY by the SEED that will REMAIN IN THIS MAN.

Saints can still fall back but these BORN AGAIN FROM GOD CANNOT EVER SIN. Saints taste powers to come and enlightment from time to time, but a BORN OF GOD is as GOdly as Jesus in the flesh. Not Jesus as Father, Jesus AS MAN AND SON. As A BROTHER of Christ, not a Brother of Father God. Jesus as God had way more glory than we will ever have. but JEsus as man had PRESICELY the same glory that we get when God puts HIS SEED in us. Exactly... John 17. Father the glory I had I have GIVEN THEM. Father the hour has come glorify thy Son with the Glory he had BEFORE THE EARTH WAS MADE... That is why Jesus told MAry NOT TO TOUCH HIM FOR HE HAS NO ASCENDED TO THE FATHER YET..... MAry would DIE if she touch JEus in that glorious state. She would receive that glory a few days later though.With the other in the upper room....

Jesus as God had way more glory than we will ever have. but JEsus as man had PRESICELY the same glory that we get when God puts HIS SEED in us. Exactly... John 17. Father the glory I had I have GIVEN THEM. Father the hour has come glorify thy Son with the Glory he had BEFORE THE EARTH WAS MADE... That is why Jesus told MAry NOT TO TOUCH HIM FOR HE HAS NO ASCENDED TO THE FATHER YET..... MAry would DIE if she touch JEus in that glorious state. She would receive that glory a few days later though.With the other in the upper room....

And the setting in of Rev. 18 is the end time age, just before Jesus returns to earth, the rapture had happened already and the 70th wk. of Daniel is going on. Hi there,

We are 'accepted in the Beloved', made 'complete' in Christ Jesus.

In God's sight we are as Christ is - 'without spot and blemish'. In His sight we are already 'Holy and without blame'. This is all as a result of the all-sufficient sacrifice of Christ, and of God's acceptance of that sacrifice by His resurrection and ascension to God's right hand.

It is for us to believe it, and rejoice in it, and reckon on it moment by moment. As we feed on His Word, the Holy Spirit washes us clean from the influence of the world and it's ways, and as we look to Christ and stay our minds on things above, we truly live according to the spirit.

This is not a matter of 'feeling' or 'experience' but of faith in the finished work of Christ.

Chris not only in His sight but also in His will and HE (Father God Himself) will CAUSE us to WALK in His statutes, also KEEP His judgement and DO THEM.... God will CASUE His Chilodren to be PERFECT and 100% in HIS WILL... It is not a sight and faith thing, it is a PERFECT HOLY LIFE Exactly like Jesus lived....


People make it as we are still ok even if we slip up. God is like BLIND to thesin becasue we are reconsiled... That is NOT what the Bible teach. It says GOD WILL CAUSE us to be perffect. Right here on earth as DO ALL HIS WILL. Right here on earth! God is NOT a God of emty words and he said BE PERFECT... not LOOK PERFECT! BE!


And I agree 100% it is by the WORK of Jesus the Godly Man, and JESUS the Father (God in all His Glory) that we are made to be perfect. It is HIS work that makes us perfect, that is why we are perfect when HE FINISH HIS WORK ON US HERE ON EARTH. To be ... UNTO A PERFECT MAN.. .Recreated into the EXACT image of His SOn as man.. GOD AS MAN... Godly man. Perfect man.

It is not like God has glasses on and he sees us perfect even though we are still sinners... that is FALSE teaching. And htat is what confuse people.... Let me put it plain as the Word speaks and look to EVEN what perfection this is.. PERFECT AS WHOM?

Matthew 5:48... Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

But the more I understand the more I'm called such and other names as you probably have known from my other posts on other threads - and I'm more certain of the direction I'm heading - but then it's not the point of this thread.
