Does the Pope live like His Master, or is "His Holiness" really endeavoring to bring glory to himself?

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come (i.e, the 2nd coming), except there come a falling away (great apostasy) first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 2 Thess 2:2,4

Why is it that you recognize clearly that the pope is a fraud, positioned in an upper hierarchical caste, a mediator between God and man, yet you have no problem looking to a pastor/reverend positioned in an upper hierarchical caste, a mediator between Christ and man? Is anybody getting this yet?
I get that you are talking rubbish. No one on here apart from Roman Catholics sees their pastor as in an upper hierarchical caste. nor as a mediator between God and men. What we are getting is that you don't know what you are talking about.

Martin Luther, when exiting Rome, failed to drop the deeds of the Nicolaitans, clerical/laity distinction which Jesus hates. Rev. So so now we have thousands of little popes standing behind pulpits.
Well at least thousands would be better than one. But as Roman Catholics usually do, you are totally misrepresenting the situation.

By the way what has Martin Luther to do with it?. He never made pretentious claims and he was only one among many reformers.

The New York Catechism says:

"The pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth. . . . By divine right the pope has supreme and full power in faith and morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true Vicar of Christ, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians. He is the infallible ruler, the founder of dogmas, the author of and the judge of councils; the universal ruler of truth, the arbiter of the world, the supreme judge of heaven and earth, the judge of all, being judged by no one, God himself on earth.”

The pope is God on earth? The head of the body of Christ?

No wonder we reject him and his heresies
:)

But, a proponent of the god of this world? Sure. ;)

The bible says that the Holy Spirit is the Comforter left with us by Christ.

Only the Holy Spirit has the authority to act in behalf of God because He is God.

For the cause of Christ

This sounds dangerously close to the anti christs mindset......

I am seeing Roman Catholicism more and more as being Satanic. They put Mary in the place of Christ. They put the pope in the place of Christ. They deny and oppose God's Word with their traditions of man. It is shocking when one first comes to grips with the depths of their Mariology, which is unadulterated idolatry. I was told yesterday that Moses and Elijah appearing with Christ at the transfiguration was somehow an indication that we are allowed contact with the dead now. The twisting of Scripture is sickening.

I do not know of any Christian Pastor claiming that every time he sits down in a chair he is speaking for God.

I do not know of any Christian pastor who claims that if you are not a member of His church you cannot enter into Heaven.

I do not know of any Christian Pastor bowing down to statues of Mary.

You will only see this in the Churches that are following Satan and not God.

Ephesians 4:11-16
[SUP]11 [/SUP] And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
[SUP]12 [/SUP] for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
[SUP]13 [/SUP] till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
[SUP]14 [/SUP] that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
[SUP]15 [/SUP] but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ--
[SUP]16 [/SUP] from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

We have Pastors because Jesus gave us Pastors. Nowhere in the Scriptures did Jesus give us Popes! Popes are from this World, from Satan, not from God!

The Holy Spirit is the Vicar of Christ, not some self proclaimed usurper.

John 1425 I (Jesus) am telling you these things now while I am still with you.26But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

Jesus' representative is not the Pope, but the Holy Spirit.

Are you sharing this with proclamation or dire warning of its heresy?

My hunch is that this is a non existent document.
If you put in Baltimore Catechism into Amazon for example you get plenty of entries.
If you put in New York Catechism, you get zip.

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. - I John 2:1-2

What does "Vicar" mean?

"Substitute; anyone acting 'in the person of'" [Wikipedia]

So it means Christ's substitute over His church.

He wouldn't need those two guys carrying his skirt if they just cut off the pomp lol
Hundreds of years have past and they never thought of that.

5 “Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long tassels. 6 And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues. 7 They love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi.’

11 The greatest among you must be a servant. 12 But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Matthew 23:5-7,11-12
