In speaking of the day of the Lord, Peter says this: "Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, and regarding the parience of our Lord to be salvation..."

One of the often neglected issues about the second coming of Jesus Christ and the day of the Lord is how we should live. If we look forward to that day then we ought to consider how we live today. Indeed, how we live may hasten His coming.
How do you live in preparation of His return?

You cannot live right, or even be given the knowledge of The Mysteries of God, without the infilling of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 8 v 9 "A man without The Spirit of Christ is NONE of his". Amen

Satan can only tempt us though our mind-that is how he works his way into the heart. If we guard our mind,[we are protecting our heart] being carefull what we dwell on there,he will soon flee from us! Keep your eyes and mind fixed on all things good! Jesus said to let our heart be sweet or bitter- the choice is ours-then -jus be !

My understanding is Jesus is coming for a Bride - spotless and without blemish

I try to be patient and kind an fair and just in my dealings with people - but often I am not.

I do ask to be empowered by God

I often seek God for forgivness of my shortfalls and ask to be cleansed.

What more can you do?

Hi,
We should live according to the Word.
eg Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery
Do not divorce unless for marital unfaithfulness.
do not limit Christ in your life by making oaths.
Do not resist an evil person. If they want your tunic give them your cloak as well.
Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect
Give without seeking honour from men. Give in secret
Close the door and pray in secret
Forgive
Do your works unseen
Trust in Jesus by seeking first the kingdom of God and he will provide abundantly
Overcome the glitz and ways of this world. Place your trust in God.
Dont condemn yourself through judging
live according to the law in your heart and mind.
ask seek knock believe
love one and all
love

Sometimes the lifestyle of a person who claims to be with Christ is not done with enough emphasis to be holy as God is holy.

A lot of people who claim to be with Christ do not live the lifestyle that they should thinking that it is alright to live a substandard lifestyle and still be right with God,which is not true.

Our lifestyle makes or breaks us contrary to what some people think, and there is no excuse if you do not live the way you should.

The Bible says a Spirit led life will not sin,so there is no excuse, and that is the purpose of the Holy Spirit to give us power to be like Jesus.

The Bible says if you are born of God you cannot sin. That is how you know the children of the devil and the children of God.Those who sin are of the devil, those who do not sin are of God.

Jesus said not all who call Him Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven but only those who do the will of God,which is to abstain from all sin.

The Bible says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, which shows you that there is a chance you could not make it,because if you do not work on yourself to get rid of all your sin you will not make it.

Paul said if he did not abstain from sin he would be a castaway.

The 10 virgins were 10 people who confessed Christ but only 5 made it to heaven.

A lot of people do not think that your lifestyle does not have to be holy but the Bible says your lifestyle has to be holy. They only say your lifestyle does not have to be holy because they like to dabble in sin once in a while and believe they will still make it to heaven. Those who love holiness will see that you have to be holy as Jesus is holy.

I wish I went to church more. But I prepare by reading my bible and just believing in God. I love holiness but sometimes it escapes me. However, I hope that God keeps me in his good graces and overlooks past deeds.

Hi Matt,
I am no where near your level of Christianity as I am still a sinner. In fact, I don't seem to be able to rid myself of some sins and I know from other sins that were in me that it is not my effort nor my timing that clears persistant sin from me. It is His timing and His authority. All I have is the desire to be rid of sin and a willingness to fight. I once stood in front of an open refrigerator and feeling confident started reeling off in my mind what a great job I had done in conquering sin in my body. I started to eat food from the fridge as I was having these thoughts and I ate and I ate and I ate. I kept telling myself it was stupid to keep on eating as I was not hungry and then I told myself that I was full to bursting and still I ate. Then as I ate more and more I feared dying. I was stuffing like a pig. I no longer take any pride in overcoming but give thanks and pray that He will take more away and that I will not be swell headed about my position. I am only a work in progress.
Quite truthfully, I don't see any of us ever being without sin. I see mercy, forgiveness and Jesus Christ
Romans 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
James 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath showed no mercy, and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves; for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Sin is disbelief in Jesus.
Jesus Christ is our righteousness, we do not establish our own.
I am not advocating anything but a truly sincere heart that hates sin.
1John5:18 anyone born of God does not continue to sin. (even Paul said he was not all he should be)
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin,we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is dammed if he eat because he eateth not of faith, for whatever is not of faith is sin.
In many of the scriptures that seem to condemn us if we sin I find joy. The joy is that I look at that scripture as a guarantee of my success not as a condemning scripture.

I believe that God sends us to places and peoples and times. I also believe that we need to be good stewards of these sendings, that we need to plan. Bit in the light of the imminent return of Christ, there is also a certain way that we must live in the today. Today we must hear His voice. Today we must obey. Today we must make an impact. Most of all, today we must die to self and live in the Spirit. That advice is my contribution to how we ought to live.

What a beautiful post, so humble and honest. I agree totally, if we think we can live a life without sin, we kid ourselves, and make a mockery of the righteousness that is given to us in Christ.
The Lord has already said our righteous acts are like filthy rags. We can never attain our own righteousness. We can live holy lives, yes. Edwin, may Gods peace and love rest upon you. You have a beautiiful spirit.

In Christ. Two simple words, yet so full of meaning. In Christ means by the example He set by being in the Father. In Christ means that if they have seen us, then they have seen Jesus. In christ means that we are in Him and He is in the Father, and the Father is in us all. In Christ means that we are a walking breathing talking doing testimony to the loving sacrifice on the cross, where God demonstrated His love for all people, everywhere. In Christ means the life of God in these frail and sinfull human bodies of corruption, true eternal life from above that testifies of His resurrection, of His eternal life. In Christ means love for others, God's love through us by the power of God, for all.

These are the things that Christ would do through and in us before His return.
