well my hope is in the bible, to become a Son of God, and look like him,be like him .

my face shinning like the brightness of the sun. firstfruits after Christ.

not sure what you think we become? do you even know what it is, harp player?
Do you know that Herbert Armstrong practiced incest with his own daughter? I don't accept any of the teachings of a moral reprobate, and if I had known it, I would have never been a part of Worldwide Church of God.

Evangelical Christians don't believe that harp playing nonsense. That is a caricature created in the mind of Herbert Armstrong. If he thought that evangelical Christians a whole believed that, he was an idiot.

That's all very well and good but most assemblies are not set up for an every member participation open meeting as clearly described in everyone's bible that's reading this right now.
Very depressing having the power of God within and His blessed functions given to you and all you are allowed to do is holler 'amen' to the same guy Sunday after Sunday. That's not God's assembly.
I'm not talking about everyone getting to participate by having "open meetings." I'm talking about greeting, kids' church, hospitality, cleaning toilets. That's REAL service to the Body. Not teaching/preaching. Stop focusing on what you think is wrong with church assemblies and get in there and get your hands dirty by serving.

The issue was brought up in the court case regarding his ex wife. By the way, I don't feel a bit guilty about bringing this up as he called Christian pastors outside his church "ministers of Satan" and claimed the rest of Christianity teaches a "counterfeit gospel".

I don't care about Herbert Armstrong. I only discuss this due to the references that oldthennew brought up. I only made allusions to my experiences to make certain points concerning church attendance. Experience is relevant to expressing an opinion on related topics, so that is why I bring up specific items. If people don't like it, don't read my threads. I don't care. Put me on ignore for all I care. :)

Due to my focus on God's sovereignty, there's nothing that has happened to me that doesn't serve a purpose so I don't feel sorry for myself. That's one of the blessings of a Reformed mindset. If I was an Arminian, I might feel sorry for myself but I am not.

KJV1611-

How many christians DID assemble in real New Testament, bible believing churches in the New Testament?

As for this forum.. we aren't assembled. I am in New Zealand.. you in America (probably.. if you haven't travelled :))

Assembly in biblical terms was real, in the flesh, face to face assembly.

Even the 'congregation in the wilderness' .. Israel.. journeying... were assembled. A massive assembly.. yeah.. but still visible.. in the flesh.

And as for churches that preach from the Word and let it speak for itself.. I don't know about other titles they are given but independent missionary baptist.. independent fundamental baptist.. bible baptist.. I know from experience endeavour to preach straight from the Word and let it speak for itself.

My old pastor read the bible for himself after being disillusioned in the church he was at.. and came to conclusions on what it was really teaching...

Independent baptist churches were what he found to be teaching what he concluded straight from scripture.

Now before others go on to 'its not just baptists.. or independent baptists!' .. well there are whole heap of churches without denominational names or titles that also teach straight from the bible and let it speak for itself. Maybe not baptist in name.. but would teach the same, because they came to their conclusion from just studying the bible themselves.

These churches that teach straight from, and believe the bible are there. If they weren't, God would be lying when He spoke about His churches being in every generation until the end of the church age.

We know because that's what most churches are like. Basically cultural centers with religious-themed entertainment and programs for everyone from chilluns to geezers. In other words, dead.

If you are speaking of the "most churches" in your area, well you would know better than I, so ok. However, if you are speaking of the "most churches" in the world.......I would like you to detail exactly how many of the church congregations around the world you have actually visited/worshiped with?

Broad brush condemnation of people we have never met or even are of aware of their existence serves no purpose, and is not something Jesus would do in my opinion.

I don't imagine God would say to avoid all churches because you think they miss a few things. Fellowship is more important than complete accuracy in all things.

Besides, do you accept every Word of God to the exact same standard you hold all churches to? All Believers are imperfect people limited in their own understanding of God, including you. Churches just have more of us gathered together.
Below is Charles Stanley's church statement of faith. This guy doesn't even believe the bible he preaches from and his church is not alone, Almost all statements of faith say the same thing. Believing the bible is truth mixed with error is not just "missing a few things". I can't fellowship with people who make the bible say whatever they want it to say... we have totally different understandings of Christianity.

  1. The Scriptures
We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men of God “were moved by the Holy Spirit” to write the very words of Scripture. The Bible is therefore without error (inerrant) in its original manuscripts. God has supernaturally preserved the Bible, and it is the sole and final authority for faith and life, providing encouragement, guidance, comfort and instruction for training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21).

So if you believe all Christians would base their doctrine on what the Bible says, yet all of the ones in your area apparently don't, do you think they're all wrong and you're the only one who's right?
Ok, if I'm wrong, tell me where I'm wrong. Am I wrong to believe God gave me a perfect bible. Am I wrong to base my beliefs about God and the Christian faith on the bible rather than basing it on what a church (which doesn't believe the bible is 100% accurate) tells me I should believe.

God may have given a "perfect Bible" (another discussion due to translations, etc.), but God did not make perfect people to understand everything about Him.

Including you.

With all due respect, maybe the problem isn't with Louisville Kentucky, but with you instead?

A brief search showed almost 1,200 different churches in Louisville. How many have you been to? 12? 24? That's 1-2% of churches in your area. To say that most of the churches in Louisville preach what you think to be incorrect doctrine and you have it all figured out is elitist and arrogant.

Me too. So why would I attend a church and give any creedance to a pastor who doesn't believe the bible is 100% right?

How many churches in Louisville have you been to? 12? 24? Less? More?

What are you basing your judgement on? 1 sermon? 2 sermons? How long have you gone to the churches where this is supposedly happening?

And are you convinced that everything you believe about God and the Bible is 100% right, and the majority of the churches are not?

Find a KJV only church if that's what you think is right. I know there are KJV Only churches. Some even have a sign on the building saying that.
