Oh I should also mention that I agree that much of Europe has a better attitude toward youth and alcohol consumption. I have no problem with teaching moderation of drinking in the home but by the parents/legal guardians and in a responsible way, not to be "the cool parent." I also think that our consumption laws in the U.S. regarding alcohol are too stringent.
I totally agree. I was just stating that there may be a case of 'the greater good'. Is it better to commit one sin to prevent a 'greater' sin? There is no good to come for doing anything just because its 'cool'.

I was printing cd's for my brother's band that played at the Norva in Norfolk today....

And they had like a nude woman (the wife of a guitarist in the band on the cover)....but he wanted me to print the cd's...I was not printing the obscene image, but rather the name of the band and name of the songs onto each cd (the side that does not play music)...I did 100 of these...it took forever...

And once more wondering, am I just helping to produce something that may or will defile the minds who listen to it?!?

He was printing them, but then asked me to while they finished recording the cd--was this wrong? When I saw the picture...I was dumfounded...I even rebuked my brother, I was like "I did not think you were a 'hard-core' band...and he said they weren't and I was like expressing how baffled I was by the picture...

Anyway, today he had his first major/bigger concert at the Norfolk Norva...and I was on the fence rather I should go or not...Can you go somewhere to support a person without supporting what they are doing?!?

I know that going to places like this often leads me and everyone into really, really SKETCHY if not SHADY situations...so I did not go...though I thought about going to witness..if that makes any sense...as some rock kids are surrounded by walls of people that distance them from the LORD...

God bless

Should we be ashamed of the human form? Unless she was doing something explicit I don't think there is anything wrong. Whether you should show that sort of thing to young kids is another matter. I guess you're against classical statues too?

Do not facilitate temptations.

Do not facilitate temptations. The one who falls to temptation is not blameless, but the one who tempts is cursed. Just look at The Garden of Eden!!!

I have been in this predicament quite often...

My younger brother wants an explicit content cd that my mom will buy for him if I don't, but since I am with him,he asks me to buy it for him...and I do...is this wrong???

Or when I was a vegetarian, I would buy meat for people though I thought it wrong to kill animals...is this wrong?

I am perplexed about the rightness/wrongness of buying things that go against what you believe in...

For example, confession: I have bought cigarettes and chew for underage people like twice, I think???, though I do not support smoking at all...but I wanted them to see that I loved them by doing what they wanted done...

Obviously to some extant it seems wrong, but is their cases where you do what someone else wants? Instead of what your morals suggest?

SHould I not buy meat for anyone if I think it wrong to eat animals???

The rule is, if it goes agaisnt what you know is right and wrong (CD for brother) do not buy it no matter
what your mother does, you have to answer for what you do, she has to answer for what she does.

Doing something like buying in underage people beer or cigerettes, yes that wrong esp if it is agaisnt
the law.

Also you dont know if they are ATF "plants" you buy things like the above for them , you go to jail.
The thing is you never know who they are untill the handcuffs go on.

When you invite a friend who is an omivore over for dinner, the friend should eat what you put infront
of them and not complaine. The rule of thumb is to make arrangement before hand before eating at
omnivores house

I understand what you're saying but I was speaking in regards to U.S. laws and I believe that's where the OP is from.

In regards to drinking in the home, I think I mentioned that. What I don't condone is buying a case of beer for a kid so they can go party. I also mentioned parents teaching moderation, so I think you misread what I wrote. In regards to alcohol, I understand the reasons why some religions don't believe in its consumption, but I'm not a part of those religions and I respectfully disagree with them.
I believe US law is the same. Minors under 18 can't PURCHASE tobacco, but I believe it's legal for them to consume it at 16. At least, so went the schoolyard rumors when I was a teen. Maybe that part depends on what State you're in, I dunno..

Anybody, this whole "do whatever the laws of men say" thing is ridiculous.

We've been talking about Paul, whether and why he should or shouldn't be considered scripture... Well, doesn't that make it quite obvious BOTH that it goes against what the Bible says, AND why it was so politically advantageous to put him in the Bible anyway?

I mean, if you really believe that a true believer should never violate the laws of the land, you might as well just tear the story of Daniel out of your Bible.. and Ester along with it.

And it's easy to say "oh, well, it's different if the laws actually violate the Bible." Well I say the laws of the land DO violate the Bible. Our Messiah was the greatest healer in human history. Healing the sick and infirm was clearly very important to Him, and very dear to His heart.

Yet, not ONLY do we Christians allow politics to get in the way of sick people getting natural medicines put here by G-d, but unfortunately many of them are actually leading the charge. I've witnessed with my own eyes how much marijuana and marijuana byproducts can help people, whether it's a chronic pain suffered by someone who refuses to take narcotics, or a chemo patient that ate nothing for a week until they were brought a pot brownie, there is absolutely no doubt that it's a substance that often HAS no equivilent substitute (including some of the "medical marijuana" drugs, like "Marinol" ) and has a remarkable way of doing such an effective job with virtually no risk at all.

There are documented cases of people dying from too much WATER... but not one case of somebody dying from too much pot, in the history to the world. And yet, the ONE group one would think would stand up and say "Hey, Genesis clearly says that G-d created all this for our uses, that ALL seed bearing plants are fine for food, and that He looked at all His creation when it was done, and declared it "very good."

But instead, we waver with the political winds. We consider ourselves "conservative" so we just go with whatever conservative politicians want to do, instead of putting it in the context of the Bible.

Marijuana isn't the only example, just one of the best, since it's never killed anyone in the history of the world, unlike tobacco, alcohol, aspirin, and even water, which are all legal.

Just something to think about (hopefully).

The bible calls for wisdom, if you dnt have it ask from God who gives everything. There is a reason as to why God gives us what we need instead of what we want. what we want most of the time is not what we need or what is good for us. the chain of action goes like this:- God first, others second and me last. the problem is teaching youths that they should follow their hearts and discover what they want instead of teaching them about how they can serve God. most of the time we go through trials and tribulation just to make this stick in our heads. seek first the kingdome of God and his righteousness and the rest shall be added unto you. there is nowere in the bible were it says do not drink but it also says use wisdom.
