Oh, but it is. The gifts are given as the Spirit wills. If my speaking in tongues is the sign of my salvation, and all of a sudden, I do not speak in tongues any more, have I lost my salvation? Do I fake it so that it appears that I am saved? Do you see? The only witness and seal of our salvation is internal, in the inner man, where the Spirit dwells. For He testifies with our spirits that we are the children of God.
If you go to John 17:all you will see that Jesus was telling His Father that not all of the World belongs to Him

A touchy subject, for sure. But can we ignore this ministry? We all know just how badly it has been used in the past, and is even still being misused. Can we afford to not have prophecy?

Some would say that we have the completed scriptures, and so do not need any more prophecy, as prophecy is from the Lord, and He has spoken all that He needs or intends to speak.

Whatever you you do,dont't worry about bible prophecy. Worry about the doctrine that you're being taught . for example, when the first jews were around what did they do to please God? they followed and obeyed the law of moses. Then you go to the new testament and you will see that Jesus constantly preaching about obeying and knowing the Word of God. Because as a christian what is your main objective? to obtain and maintain your salvation, right? so focus on this because in the true church of Christ everything is done in order. and you have to be baptised with the Holy Spirit, not all mankind has this very specific gift.
Actually, the children of Israel did not follow the Laws of Moses. They broke them time after time, such that God wanted to destroy them all and start over with Moses.

Where did Jesus teach and preach about knowing the word of God. I don't seem to remember that in my reading of the gospels.

My friend, I did get it, and that is very dangerous. Here is why. This proof is transitory, and it will not stand the test of time and persecution. That is why I write what I do. Not because I do not know what you are saying. Because I am concerned, with the concern of Christ, that you know the witness of the Spirit in the inner man, that we all know the witness of the Spirit, the seal of our adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

I know that you have this witness. You want a more sure witness for others who first come to Jesus. But this is not to be, because it is still by faith. We cannot point to anything in this world that is our seal. It is in our spirit, in our heart. It is not seen, but we know, and because we know, we believe, and God is pleased.
I don't think it's any more dangerous, than giving to the poor, and thinking , "I'm glad I had the desire to do that,..because I am saved".

I am forgetting that VW does not believe in OSAS. So from that point of view, yes it is dangerous because then one does not know if they have lost their salvation or not but because they have once spoken in tongues or displayed a gift, then they (from a non-OSAS point of view) would mistakenly believe that they are still saved.

Never mind, I googled it. Who says that I don't believe in salvation being permanent? In fact, God gives us the Spirit as the seal of our salvation, so we can know that it is permanent.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit has slipped a long way, and the restoration of His work in us is truly needed more than we know.

Do a search of the scriptures about the Holy Spirit's place in the life of the believer, and be amazed.

Exactly, since the devil can counterfit any of the gifts, but not the indwelling of the Spirit.

I want to thank all of you for responding in the honesty of your hearts. I brought this up for a good reason, we are soon to be tested, in accordance with the testing of the saints as the angel told Daniel. The only proof against the trials we must endure is the precious gift of God' Spirit. Nothing else will sufice in our time of need. And when we have endured, our Lord, Jesus Christ, will welcome us into His kingdom with open arms in His great love for us. Amen
Thankyou for speaking of this.
This has been shown to me as well. The best way I can articulate it is to say we need to wear the simple clothing of faith, hope and love in Jesus.
What lays ahead will strip all we think we can wear away.
But if we stay in Jesus, in the clothing of faith, hope and love. This cannot be touched or torn from us.

Thankyou for these words, a confermation.
God bless, pickles

Shalom my brothers and sisters, first I want to say how blessed I am to have a place where the truth can be told and embrassed by those who read it. I am very interested in this subject. I agree the Word says, " My people perish for lack of knowledge". I am a little confused by VW's comment. I am not sure if you are saying there are no Prophets today or if you are saying there are. In Ephesians 4:11 Paul writes, And He Himself (Jesus) gave some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some Evangelists, and some Pastors and Teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect (mature in Christ) man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Chrst; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head-Christ-from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, accourding to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
To me this means Jesus made these offices for the body of Christ to grow and not stay children. Every office is referred as a part of the body to which each has it's job and is supplied by the Holy Spirit. There are counterfiets out there, but they defile every office God has set up. To confuse and make you blind to the real office when it comes your way. For me the only way I know if it's God is to test the spirit that is before me and line it up with the Word of God.

My understanding of the baptisms are 1) salvation and water baptism 2) baptism of the Holy Spirit( Mark 1:8). These quotes are out of the Bible. Is this what you were saying? When I read your message it sounded like you were saying you receive the Holy Spirit when you are saved. The Word says they are two seperate baptisms.

Pray tell, what is the OSAS?

I think OSAS means once saved always saved. You can lose your salvation, but the Word says you can only lose it by grieving the Holy Spirit. If indeed you spoke tongues, you did not lose it. God NEVER takes back what He gives us. Speaking in tongues we use our own voice as the Spirit gives us utterance, if we are speaking to the church. If you are praying for yourself open your mouth and speak from your own spirit, praying in tongues is for us as well as the body of Christ. When we pray in tongues it is to encourage and edify our own spirit. When tongues is spoken to the body of Christ, there should always be an interpretation of what was said and preferrably not by the one who is speaking in tongues. Satan can not understand this language so it is an effective tool to pray with. You speak in tongues but you say the words in english in your heart. Your spirit knows what to pray and satan cannot interfer because he has no idea what your saying. Ticks him off something ferce, I love it.

GOD BLESS YOU . I BELIEVE IN THE 5 OFFICIES JESUS GAVE TO THE CHURCH. SO PROPHECY ARE REAL TODAY. I RELISED ALOT OF CHRISTIANS FALL SHORT OF ACTS 2:38. THEY REPENT, BAPTISE AND STOP THERE
. THEY FALL SHORT OF THE PROMISE BECAUSE OF FALSE PROPHETS, PASTORS TEACHERS, APOSTLES AND EVANGELIST.
SOME ACCEPT SPEAKING IN UNKNOWN TONGES AS AN INITIAL EVIDENCE , WHICH AINT SCRIPTUAL.
THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW IF SOMEONE IS TRUELY BORN AGAIN, YOU NEED TO BE BORN AGAIN FIRST. YOU KNOW THE SAYING ,IT TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE. ANYONE DISAGREE?
