What confusing, the Word of God is clear and evident ?


Ga 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.


Repentance must begin with faith and turning from self-righteousness and the hypocrisy therein.
What about turning from sin? Is that needed?

1 Yahchanan (John) 3:4, "Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the Law: for sin is the transgression of the Law."
Yea is called the just shall live by faith...and the law is not of faith.
Take on the whole armor of the Most High.... (not just Galatians)

Romans 3:28, "For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the Law."

Romans 3:31, "Are we then doing away with the Law through the faith? By no means! Rather, we establish the Law!"

Romans 6:1-2, "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means!How can we who died to sin still live in it?"

Matt 5:18, "For truly I say to you; Unless heaven and earth passes away, one yodh--the smallest of the letters--will in no way pass from the Law, until all things are perfected."

Revelation 21:1-2, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea. And I, Yahchanan, saw the holy city, Yahweh Shammah, coming down from Yahweh out of heaven, prepared as brides adorned for their husbands. And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying: Behold, the tabernacle of Yahweh is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and Yahweh Himself will be with them, and be their Father.

The Greek word for "repent" is "metanoia" (noun) and "matanoeo" (verb) you see as defined in the Strongs #3340, 3341: to think differently or afterwards, reconsider. After thought, change of mind. Repentance basically means a "change of mind" and the context must determine what is involved in this change of mind. Repentance in salvation involves a change of mind about our sinful position and any form of self-trust in human works/good deeds, religious tradition, etc.. and the new direction of this change of mind is faith in Christ for salvation.

Many people simply define repentance as "turning from sin." The Bible does tell us that true repentance will result in a change of actions. Acts 26:20 declares, "I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds." This is the fruit of repentance (Matthew 3:8), not the essence of repentance. I have heard certain preachers say, "If you want to be saved, repent of your sins, turn from your sins." If turning from your sins means to stop sinning, then people can only be saved if they completely stop sinning. If that were the case, then it is unlikely that anyone has ever been saved, since we don't know anyone who has ever "completely" stopped sinning.

Interesting thing is I have older Bible Dictionaries that say repent is to "turn in a 180 degree manner, not returning to the original direction....

But meh, just think differently right? Still continue in the same path? Just think its wrong.... OK.

Ezekiel 14:6 , "Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!"

Ezekiel 18:30 "Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall."

Ezekiel 33:11, Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?"

Saved believers are never referred to as sinners. Believers are only referred to as sinners when they were are being justifed. Otherwise, they are always referred to as saints, sons of God, the Elect, and other positive names, etc.. A justified believer is never referred to with a negative name like a "sinner."

Paul says, "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] [/FONT]Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Now, this is where it gets really interesting in the passage. Paul says,

"And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."

In other words, believers WERE sinners. They WERE once fornicators, adulters, drunkards, etc. But they are not that way anymore.

In Matthew 12:41, when God saw their works, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. In Jonah 3:4, we see that Jonah told the people of Ninevah that the city of Ninevah would be overthrown in 40 days if they do not repent of their wickedness (Jonah 1:2). The people of Ninevah believed God and turned from their evil ways (Jonah 3:5,10). *This does not mean from that point on they were sinless 100% of the time. God promised that He would now relent from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them. The people of Nineveh took these words of imminent divine judgment seriously. We are told, "They believed in God" (3:5), which focuses on the faith of these Gentiles in the God of Israel, and not just their fear of judgment. Turning from their evil ways was the fruit of their repentance. It does not say they repented and believe the gospel. Unfortunately, the city of Ninevah reverted within one generation to its old pagan ways (Nahum 3:7,8). If we do our best to turn from our evil ways, yet fail to place our faith in Christ for salvation, are we saved?

Salvation is a Gift from GOD it is Freely given. JESUS is Salvation, HE gave HIS LIFE Freely now for one to receive the Free Gift of Salvation (JESUS) one must realize they need a SAVIOR to Save them from their sins. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death, therefore one needs to have the penalty paid for their sins and the Only One Who was able is JESUS (Acts 4:12). So if JESUS is the SAVIOR and is the Free Gift for one to get the Gift they must first believe, they must confess their sins and admit they are a sinner in need of Salvation this is called Repentance this is what John the Baptist was sent for to prepare the way. John spoke to the people regarding the need for not just a savior but Thee SAVIOR.

Now when we accept JESUS as SAVIOR we are now Saved from not just hell but the lake of fire. While we are living a life in CHRIST JESUS we must remain Faithful this is why we are given the HOLY SPIRIT HE is our Helper because we are in CHRIST JESUS but still have a fleshly body which is sinful this is why we must die to the flesh daily. By adhering to the HOLY SPIRIT and denying the flesh we are working out our own Salvation, meaning keeping true to what JESUS has done by not forfeiting the Gift.

So to answer your question I choose (h) Yes, because one does have to verbally speak outwardly (confess they are a sinner and that JESUS is Salvation). Repentance is turning away from ones mindset of thinking and turning to GOD.

How do you define Repentance?

I made a list above of different versions of how people view Repentance.
I noticed how you made a list of how people view the meaning of repentance. Perhaps you are listening to people rather than God. Look at it from Gods view, perhaps you will see the true meaning of repentance. Of course you are going to get people's view, but that you doing so, you are going to get only there own personal views, and that can be dangerous grounds. When people have a question about God, they go to people rather than God himself.

People will go the long way round to get answers, when they can go direct to God himself, the very person who created us, and everything. And asking people if they disagree with certain things in the bible is only going to fuel the fire in people's hearts to question God and themselves in doubt. We should accept What Jesus Said in the bible and have faith and live by his grace. Who are we to actually question the very person who created us? I think thats were we are going wrong in our lives as a Christian. We all lean to our own understanding, instead of trusting God for his. Matthew 7: 7 should be your answer to any questions. Ask, seek and Knock. God is telling us, if we have a questio about God, he has provided us a great scripture. All depends how much you really trust God and believe and have faith in God for him to answer.

THEY REPENTED AT THE PREACHING OF JONAH - They heard the word of God and believed it - [ . . .repent ye, and believe the gospel] They changed their minds from being unbelievers and living riotously to believing what was preached, i.e. becoming believers in that ONE step - In that one step was the admittance that they had been living wrong . . . God looked upon their hearts and saw the intent of their hearts, therefore, He [God] changed his mind concerning his punishment toward them.

You are convicted of your sin and need of a Savior by the Holy Spirit, you accept Christ as your Savior, you grow and allow him to Lord over more and more of your life, you will still sin because you are flesh and human, when you do, you confess, ask forgiveness and move forward...

It's really not THAT complicated...

No one is sinless of their own accord.
