Reminds me of what Moses wrote of himself

Numbers 12:3 King James Version (KJV)
3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

I always wonder what was going thru his mind when the HS inspired him to write that ;)

AA Definition of Humility (according to Bill W, one of the co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous)

Another great dividend we may expect from confiding our defects to another human being is humility---a word often misunderstood. To those who have made progress in A.A., it amounts to a clear recognition of what and who we really are, followed by a sincere attempt to become what we could be.

Therefore, our first practical move toward humility must consist of recognizing our deficiencies.

Dr Bob, one of the co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous, had a plaque on his desk defining humility:

Perpetual quietness of heart. It is to have no trouble. It is never to be fretted or vexed, irritable or sore. To wonder at nothing that is done to me. To feel nothing done against me. It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed or despised. To have a blessed home in myself where I can go in and shut the door and kneel to my Father in secret, and be at peace. As in a deep sea of calmness, when all around and about is seeming trouble.

Ernest Hemingway said, “There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”

Following Jesus.

And here is the contradiction. You will never know whether you are humble,
because making such a judgement is not humble.

And humbleness is not a goal, so much as seeking to serve and help others. So maybe we should
say having a servants heart like Jesus is humbleness. Pride is such a strange thing. Arriving, achieving
something. But if the achievement is just life and love, which we all need, is it proud to gain life, or
just finding reality, and this reality just emphasises how lost man is.

But also we need to be aware of what we are and its foundations, so that when this shifts we are not
taken unawares. And each new day, everything shifts, so needs bringing back to the foot of the cross.

If we become aware of going from one state of glory to the next, we then begin to see God at work in us.
Paul was brilliant at encouraging others and seeing the blessing they were, and how the Lord had worked
in them and was bringing love and blessing to bare. So maybe part of our ministry to one another is to
bring the blessing of appreciation and focus to our brothers and sisters in Christ, so they are reassured they
are walking in His ways, to the glory of His name, Amen.

So thank you brother for this question, truly a difficult issue, but also a part of our walk

5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Matt 5

Of course. I acknowledge that I can be nothing, say nothing, or do nothing good save through Jesus.

Lol @your OP. I was so like that, trying so hard to be humble. Prided myself on it. What a foolish sheep I am, sometimes. Then the most humble, selfless, serving One let me know, I was too wrapped up in me to be humble. He is the way, the answer, the guidance, all of it. Humility doesn't mean we think less of ourselves (which was where I was), but thinking about ourselves less often (said by someone else).

So many great men in the bible showed us what humility looks like and how God is able to be used in the midst of it. Humility leaves room for growth and listening. I think there is no greater example of Humility than Christ Himself. Humility is such a beautiful and honorable characteristic of His.

All very well said, in my opinion.

Focusing on Him and Him in others, yes yes yes...Paul did do that

Faith in the Cross creates humility - Faith in ourselves or other things creates self-righteousness. When People Encounter the Presence of the Lord, Lives Change!

If that's the definition of dying to yourself, then yes, we want that, to be free from the negativity of the heart, but it is so unnatural, we wonder if we had have to fake it till we make it sometimes

I wish this can be easy and effortless, not a single drop of willpower is expended, I wish, but we are on Earth and not yet in heaven

I think it a challenge to say the least, nearly impossible now. But I think it is a great thing to shoot for, especially with Him in the drivers seat. I struggle with it because sometimes my insecurities are in the drivers seat, but He is working with you and with me. I am so grateful for His mercy, guidance and patience. I te you what, He sure finds a way to keep us humble, huh?

Humility that can relate to the struggles of other can encourage more than a "super-Christian"

No one is super except God, no matter how crazy fast they grow, or how high their standards can be

For humility, you don't want God to resort to James 4:9

Which can feel like a kryptonite, see what I did there?

Scratch that, praise God's creativity

Yeah, I agree with you. The only thing super in any of us is Him. I honestly believe it is about genuinely loving and caring for Him and others without ourselves in mind. I think it is only possible with Him. I have not arrived, brother, not by a long shot. But He has and it is Him that I want to lean. I know it is Him, all of it. I am so grateful. If it were up to me, I'd be face down in a ditch every time. He is our Hope, even with humility.

Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
James 4:9‭-‬10 ESV

I think you have a unique way with creativity brother. Of course, I give God all the Glory.
