7. We Don’t Always Suffer Because of Sin

Thanks to Adam, we live in this corrupt world and we must face the consequences ! Right, but once again we may suffer because of what we do and what others do ! We should be able to learn through our experience and through the biblical examples to make us stronger and reduce troubles as far as it is possible ! We must learn to take appropriate decisions even if it is easier to behave stupidly and always repeating the same mistakes !

This article interprets Job’s teaching on suffering from five broad perspectives: (1) God’s purpose in allowing suffering; (2) how Job “diversifies” our interpretations of suffering; (3) what God requires of us when we suffer; (4) what promises God makes about the end of suffering; and (5) how Job-like suffering grants us a new vision of God.

How does the book of Job help disciples of Jesus Christ remain faithful to God as they suffer—or walk alongside others who suffer—in ways that are extreme and inexplicable? Job is an obvious place to turn to when one is overwhelmed with pain, but it is easy for a casual reader to leave the book more mystified than encouraged.

Let’s concentrate on the word casual reader! That’s the problem, the Bible is not for casual readers, it has never been and it will never be! In fact, the more you read it, the more you open your mind to it! But you must dig again and again! You need to take time and tame it! It’s the same when you communicate with God, if you don’t do it regularly, it’s like speaking with strangers, you can’t share deep ideas, it’s only superficial! It is necessary to express ourselves, to tell find! If you agree or disagree, you must give arguments otherwise you won’t make any progress!”

Looking for Job

- YOU FEEL BAD THEN HAVE A LOOK AT THE BOOK OF JOB AND ESPECIALLY AT HIS WORDS

- OR BETTER SAID, HAVE A LOOK AT THE BOOK OF JOB AGAIN AND AGAIN AND BEFORE YOU FEEL BAD, ALWAYS HAVING IN MIND HIS WORDS AND THINKING ABOUT THEM AND HOW HE STAYED A ROCK EVEN IN THE PIT ALWAYS FIGHTING BACK WHATEVER WOULD HAPPEN!

Looking for Job

Job 7:
Thus I have been assigned months of futility

And nights of misery have been counted out for me.

- There is often one element we don’t take into account and which is essential: TIME!

- In fact, the book of Job doesn’t enhance the period of time Job had to suffer!

- Pain and suffering are difficult to bear but when it lasts and lasts and lasts!

- Here Job speaks about “months of futility”!

- Of course, he would have been more useful for him and for people if he could live a normal life during this time!

- Of course, he was trained through hardship!

- So everything is relative: one situation in exchange of another one with positive and negative effects!

Looking for Job

Job 9:
He is wise in heart and mighty in power.
Who can resist him and come off
uninjured?

- What a balance “wise in heart and mighty in power”!

- What a balance “wise and mighty”

- Are there better words to qualify God?

- And Job knows God personally!

- These words are a testimony!

- Also about his faithfulness!

- What powerful words!

Looking for Job

Job 9:
If I call out to him, will he answer me?
I do not believe that he will listen to my voice,

- A human being is nothing compared to God!

- A creator of the universe and one small creature of his creation!

- Just think about the few cases who had the opportunity to have a personal contact with him!

Looking for Job

Job 9:
If I say, “I will forget my complaint,
I will change my expression and be
cheerful,”
I would still be afraid because of all my pains,
And I know you would not find me innocent.

-Job knows he is faithful!

- But he also knows he is in trouble!

- And it wasn’t so before!

- So he can’t understand because it seems he is guilty but he doesn’t know what he has done wrong!

Looking for Job

Job 10:
Are your days like days of mortals,
Or are your years like those of a man,

- Yes, Job never forgets to speak about God’s nature!

- How he is unique!

- How nothing can be compared to him!

- How he has no beginning and no end which is difficult for us to understand because we have a beginning and an end!

- That’s also the Book of Job!

- Even if he is in bad conditions he never forget to speak his creator and about his quality!

- Not to forget it!

Looking for Job

Job 10
You bring new witnesses against me
And increase you anger against me,
As hardship after hardship comes upon me.

- Yes, that’s what Job sees but he doesn’t know he speaks about the devil instead of God!

- It’s interesting to compare this situation to what may happens to us when we think wrong about people we care or love because we see with what we know but when what we know is wrong it may have very bad consequences so we must be careful about that!

- Thus we may avoid hurting our dear ones!

Looking for Job

Job 10

In his hand is the life of every living thing
And the spirit of every human.

- Yes, God created us!

- And we are his creation!

- And we can live thanks to all his creation!

- And he knows us!

- We can’t trick him!

- And yet he listens to his servants and to those who are really looking for him!

- And he listens to Job!

- But he answers him at the appropriate time!

- And God’s time is not ours!

- It is easy to forget it!

- And think wrong!

Looking for Job

Job 13
Yes, my eye has has seen all of this,
My ear has heard and understood it.
What you know, I also know;
I am not inferior to you.

- Job knows himself!

- He knows he is faithful to God!

- He is not a young boy anymore!

- He is wise!

- God says it!

- His words show it!

- And he will keep fighting!

- Job has a fighting spirit!

- And his faithfulness is the source of it!

- May we follow his example and let him strengthen us!

Looking for Job
Job 13

Only grant two things to me, O God,
So that I will not conceal myself from before
you:
Remove your heavy hand far away from me,
And do not let the fear of you terrify me.

- Wow, wow, wow!

- He wants God to stop striking him, we can understand that!

- Even if it is the devil and God will stop him!

- But the last verse is so powerful!

- In fact, he wants back his personal relationship with God, nothing else!

- It is vital for him!

- It is his root to life!

- well, well, well, a newcomer!

I have checked the meaning of Taranis:
the god of thunder

In Celtic mythology, Taranis (Proto-Celtic: *Toranos, earlier *Tonaros; Latin: Taranus, earlier Tanarus) is the god of thunder, who was worshipped primarily in Gaul, Hispania, Britain, and Ireland, but also in the Rhineland and Danube regions, amongst others.

- Could you be more precise?
