According to Job, man is nothing compared to God ! God is powerful ! He is the creator of everything ! There is no one like God ! May I say that Job is angry against God, I don’t know, he tries to do his best to be God’s friend, he was blessed and now the situation has changed to the opposite and he doesn’t know why ! Does he complain ? Yes because he doesn’t understand at all ? Who wouldn’t do the same ? Would it be wrong ? I’m not saying that believers would complain to God but what I know is that many complain today because they don’t understand what’s going on ! Many think that if there was a God, he wouldn’t permit what’s on ! I’m not discussing this point, it’s only to make people think about Job’s attitude !

Is it really necessary to have separate threads for each chapter of book of Job? It’s an awful lot like spamming.

Thanks for the question! That's a good one! You are the first to ask such a question at chapter nine! Personally I would have never asked such a question! I would have not thought about it! But think when I do something I read it again and again! Let's take the way I am trying to answer your question: it's not a text I am writing from beginning to end, not at all, when I start to read it again, I have more ideas, not at the end of the text, no, at the first line or the second one or the third one... I would say when you buy a sandwich, there isn't one flavor, people have different tastes, some will stay with one flavor, others will want to try every flavor! Does a tree have only one root to feed itself and to stay firm? What is more important? The number of neurons we have or the interconnections between them? When you go to a building, do you go to all the floors or do you choose one or more? if everybody was answering the question, would they give the same answer? There are plenty of reasons! Why does the Bible have so many books and not only one? If you watch TV, do you always watch the same channel? People may decide only to look at Chapter one or some chapters or all chapters, it's up to them, it's a free choice! Personally, I try to answer everything I can whenever possible or according to what I want to say! For me, it's far easier to do so, I couldn't do the same if there was only a big amount of pages and pages! I would find it boring! Sometimes people answer, sometimes no, but when nobody answer or only few people, I can concentrate on the summary and add something I hadn't thought about! It's more personal, it helps me to go deeper because the more you think about one idea, the more ideas you get! Personally, I often do different things at the time, I have always done that! My thoughts go faster than my hand which writes! It always go in many directions and I want to explore all these directions! if you hadn't asked your question I would have never said what I am saying now! Every chapter is a new experience, a new travel to Job! I want to exchange ideas with a maximum of people and that's what I do by doing it through chapters! It's a way to renew the ideas on each chapter because each chapter has its own importance and can make you think about something particular and it is not possible if you just have one big puzzle! When you do a puzzle, you finish it and that it, you forget it, that's not my way! I always want to renew the subjet and push people to express themselves! Sometimes they need time, a lot of time, maybe never, who knows, it doesn't matter! I just want to give the possibility to people to THINK! Probably the best answer is that if I hadn't do so, you wouldn't have asked your question and I wouldn't have written this text!

According to the World health Organisation here are some facts about depression:

Key facts

  • Depression is a common mental disorder. Globally, it is estimated that 5.0% of adults suffer from depression (1).
  • Depression is a leading cause of disability worldwide and is a major contributor to the overall global burden of disease.
  • More women are affected by depression than men.
  • Depression can lead to suicide.
  • There is effective treatment for mild, moderate, and severe depression.

Overview
Depression is a common illness worldwide, with an estimated 3.8% of the population affected, including 5.0% among adults and 5.7% among adults older than 60 years (1). Approximately 280 million people in the word have depression (1). Depression is different from usual mood fluctuations and short-lived emotional responses to challenges in everyday life. Especially when recurrent and with moderate or severe intensity, depression may become a serious health condition. It can cause the affected person to suffer greatly and function poorly at work, at school and in the family. At its worst, depression can lead to suicide. Over 700 000 people die due to suicide every year. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in 15-29-year-olds.
Although there are known, effective treatments for mental disorders, more than 75% of people in low- and middle-income countries receive no treatment (2). Barriers to effective care include a lack of resources, lack of trained health-care providers and social stigma associated with mental disorders. In countries of all income levels, people who experience depression are often not correctly diagnosed, and others who do not have the disorder are too often misdiagnosed and prescribed antidepressants.

What about Job’s family? His children went well together because they used to invite each other. Except that we have no information. We don’t know about their relationship with their father Job. But we know well what happened when Job was in trouble and how his wife acted, she told him to curse God and die. We can imagine she had spent many years with Job and she wasn’t of any help to Job, on the contrary, she acted against him like Job’s companions. Did she have a good or a bad influence to their children?

https://www.gotquestions.org/patience-of-Job.html

The patience of Job—why is Job famous for being patient?
When someone exhibits great endurance through all kinds of trials, annoyances, or provocations, we say that person has “the patience of Job.” The idiom is applied to those who nobly persevere in the face of overwhelming hardships. The expression has its origin in James 5:10–11: “Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.”

Among the many Old Testament examples of patience, Job is selected as the prime illustration. He is the exemplar of a patient man. There are many reasons why this must be the case.
Job’s patience stands out because Job’s story is extreme in the amount of suffering he endured. Job lost all of his children and his wealth in a single day. He then was covered in painful sores, and his wife offered him no support—she encouraged him to give up, curse God, and die (Job 2:9). When Job’s three friends came to comfort him, they could not even recognize him from a distance (Job 2:12). Adding to Job’s pain, his friends falsely accused him of wrongdoing and blamed his troubles on his unrepentant heart. Through it all, Job patiently endured (Job 2:10).
James used Job as a prime example of patience in suffering because of what may have been in store for James’ readers. By the time of the writing of the epistle of James, Stephen had already been killed as the first Christian martyr (Acts 6—7). The early Jewish Christians had fled from Jerusalem for safety (Acts 8:1). Saul had arrested Christians in Jerusalem (Acts 9). By Acts 12 (approximately AD 42), James the apostle (not the writer of the epistle) had been killed, and Peter barely escaped death. James wrote his epistle sometime between 44 and 49; it was a troubled period, and the early church faced much persecution. The believers were in need of endurance.

With the many forms of suffering facing these early Christians, it was important to be reminded that they, like Job, had done nothing to deserve their suffering but were to patiently endure for the sake of Christ. Just as Job faced many struggles, they would face hardship in living for God. This is one of the key themes of James (1:2–4, 12–15; 5:7–13).

Still today, the patience of Job serves as an inspiration to Christians who face times of struggle and suffering. No matter what happens, we are called to follow Job’s example as we patiently endure in service and worship to the Lord, remembering that our God is “full of compassion and mercy” (James 5:11).

Does Bildad do what Job asks? What tack does he take in responding to Job's lament?

Not at all, he critizes him. He calls his words a mighty wind. Job is wrong so he must ask for mercy from God. Is it related to jealousy ? Was he envious about Job’s position and about all his good actions ?

Like Zophar, Job also goes on the attack. According to Job, what does God do with those people who think they are secure in their own comfort? Who does he have in mind here?

He makes them insecure. He thinks about his three companions who think they are better than him. There we can see Job’s mental strength. Despite his condition, he finds the strength to fight back. There are three against him but he doesn’t matter because there is no one like him on earth and God knows him !

Does Job respond to Eliphaz' charge?

Job just wants to complain and he wants to defend himself in front of God. He says he is faithful to God. I don’t know if he answers Eliphaz because it is always what he repeats.

Once again (as in chapter 33) how does God deal with those who are suffering? Therefore how should Job call upon God?

He gives justice to the afflicted. So apparently the best thing for Job is to keep being righteous and god will help him.

What is the appropriate human response to God? Why?

They should fear God because he is the Almighty.

Socrates is condemned to die, despised by the majority of Athenians. Does he demand that the gods explain and justify his suffering? Why or why not?

He believed gods to be perfectly wise, moral and good. So he thought they did the right things at any time. But he didn’t have a special relationship with them as Job had with God which makes a big difference. Job had a special relationship with God and he wanted to maintain it, for him it was essential to his life, something he couldn’t do without.

Is life fair? Is God fair?

In a world where there are drive-by shootings, child abuse, terrorism and other indescribable forms of evil, it is difficult to speak of life being fair. It seems that too often good people go unrewarded, and evil people go unpunished.

Is God fair? Absolutely. The justice of God is a theme that threads itself throughout the Old and New Testaments. At times, God punished evil people moments after they carried out their schemes. Good people were rewarded with prosperity and health. But these occurrences seem to be more the exception than the rule. How can we maintain that God is just in a world so full of injustice?

Justice delayed is still justice. We recognize this in our court systems, where crimes are often punished years after they are committed and medals of honor are awarded decades after a war. God promises that no evil will go unpunished; no good act will go unrewarded. As Solomon said, God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil (Eccl. 12:14). If there is anything we can count on, it’s God’s justice. Waiting for it to come, however, can at times seem unbearable.

Yes we see with human eyes and not with God’s eyes but time doesn’t count for God because he has no beginning and no end whereas we have beginning and end!

10. How do you start again when you were a believer that has doubts or has stop believing due to suffering?

Seek the truth. Chances are, any faith which has been lost was probably not a real faith. It was probably a faith built on false assumptions. Losing one’s faith can actually be a positive experience since real faith can’t be lost. Losing a false faith might open us up to real faith.

It is necessary to keep building up our faith. To be good at something we need to strive and learn more about God to strengthen our faith. We must build it on the rock not on the sand to resist any storm. Knowledge is essential. So reading and meditating about the Bible and about the examples of faithfulness. Then we know it is not always easy but it is worth doing it. Looking for a better relationship with God, something we must always improve.

Does one need to have the blessing of God to rebuild one’s life?

Yes and no. People without faith can build meaningful earthly lives without God. They can find a sense of satisfaction. But for lives that eternally matter, we need God. It’s only in him that we can rebuild a life that truly matters.

And when we try to build a strong relationship with God and we express ourselves in prayer we feel more confident and secure and like a rock !

Here’s 10 Lessons We Learn From the Book of Job
https://womenlivingwell.org/2016/02/10-lessons-from-the-book-of-job-the-conclusion/

1.) Bad things happen to good people .

The book of Job opens in verse one by telling us that Job was a blameless, upright man who feared God and turned away from evil. Then…his life unraveled. Job’s suffering did not come because he was bad but rather because of his unwavering faithfulness to God. (Job 1:8)

It happens every day to any kind of people ! We must learn to cope with real life, with good and bad things ! When we try to follow God’s commandments it helps us in our life, it can also help us to avoid bad things, but bad things can still happen and there are many examples in the Bible. But we must develop our fighting spirit and mental strength !

Overcoming Adversity
1 # Short Commentary and Lesson from Job 1.20-22

Job's life was in ruins, His financial security had come crashing down four times in a row. His family had been destroyed in a natural disaster. Everything that had made his life happy had been wiped out.

Job's response was twofold. He grieved heavily (v.20) like any normal person would. Then he worshiped God. It is only when we acknowledge the power of God that we can put life in perspective. God never promised us an easy life, but he does promise to be with us always (Mather 28.20)

Yes, overcoming adversity. But what thinking of this lesson when everything is fine ? It is easier to use our brain before things happen because then it is hard to think ! And when we try to help friends or people we may find helping us at the same time because training is something essential in life !

Finding God
12 # Short Commentary and Lesson from Job 23.3

Life only has meaning when we focus on God. He is not always easily found because he does not reveal himself on billboards along the road of life. Sometimes his presence is a mystery that surrounds us, causing us to peer this way and that, looking for evidence of him (v.8).

When our eyes are looking for God, our attention is pulled away from ourselves. Our petty concerns fade into the background and the glimpse of God scatter the shadows from the corners of our souls.

We must not only use our eyes but our mind and our heart and maintain out link with him by communicating with him through prayer when we drive or sleep or walk or think or at any time of our life! It must be like breathing and eating and drinking and sleeping! He must be real to us and not a cold statue! Someone we need to talk too whatever may happen, good or bad!
